If Kakashi could have turned back time, he would have picked that moment. You know, that moment.

Okay, so maybe you don't. Maybe you are so simple minded you couldn't possibly understand that moment, but Kakashi did. It was that moment where everything seemed to slow down, where you can process everything around you, when it all falls into place. Whether it be breaking your arm or realizing how fucked up your life is, it doesn't matter. It is always that moment.

Everyone's moment is different. Some is pain, some is anguish, and some is fear.

Kakashi's was generic.

It was a hot summer afternoon. He was sitting in his Uncle Jiraiya's lap. The snaps and crackles of fireworks boomed in the distance. Sakumo sat the right of his uncle, and the two chatted aimlessly as Kakashi dozed.

Jiraiya began to tickle him until tears stung his eyes. They went home, and Kakashi had that moment.

It was like a cognition. He sat on the wicker chair in the parlor and sighed out a tired breath. Sakumo picked him up and carried him to his room.

It was that moment.

If Kakashi could turn back time, he would have picked that moment. That moment when he could bury his face into his father's chest and breathe in the deep, earthy smell of his jounin vest. When he could have run downstairs and wrapped his Uncle Jiraiya in a hug, and told him how much he appreciated him, how much he loved him. When he could have stayed up late and played shinobi, when he could wake up in the morning and eat his fill of his father's pancakes, before going to the park with his uncle.

If Kakashi could turn back time, he would have done those things. He would have breathed in his father's scent, hugged his uncle, played shinobi, eaten his fill of his father's breakfast and gone to the park with his uncle Jiraiya.

There were so many things he would've done. Looking back, now, he wished he would have done it in the first place.

But he couldn't, all he could do was wish.

All he could do was wish for that moment.

I don't know what this is.
