So... I went a whole ass year without updating. But, I did make it into Law School, so I consider it a win (this is an Avengers reference). I'm gonna try and do better (she said, for the fortieth time).

This is a short chapter, but I wanted to dip my toe in the water, get used to writing this story again before jumping in once more.

When Sirius came down to the common room the next morning, he wasn't at all surprised to see Demi sitting on the sofa by herself. If she hadn't been wearing new robes, he'd have thought she didn't move since the previous night. Tentatively, he stepped towards her, unsure of whether she was awake or asleep. "So, are we just going to pretend the two of you weren't out for blood yesterday?" Sirius asked conversationally, as he sat down next to Demi on the sofa.

She groaned in response, curling herself up at his side. "I don't get why he's mad. Actually - no, I get it. But how long's he gonna hold this grudge for?" she asked, looking up at Sirius, who looked thoughtful for a moment.

"Well," Sirius began. "I was going to say it would be a week or so, but we've elapsed that. We're actually going into the months, which is unchartered territory for Remus' grudges."

"Not helping," Demi huffed, burying her face in his shoulder. "I just wish I knew what I could do so he would stop hating me." She paused, "I miss him."

Sirius nodded, "I know you do. But you know what'll cheer you up?" Demi looked up at him, curiously. "Helping us with a prank?"

Demi considered this. "Okay, what kind of prank are we talking about?" she asked, grinning slightly as Sirius pulled out a piece of parchment. Just then, the paper was yanked out of Sirius' hand, who swore loudly. "Fucking hell Moony," he cried, sucking on his thumb and eyeing the man angrily.

"She's not a part of this," Remus hissed, tucking the paper away into his robes, before attempting to head out for breakfast. He looked quite rough, the transformation clearly taking a toll.

"Okay, ENOUGH!" Sirius said, sounding positively annoyed. He stood up, and turned to Remus, "sit down, NOW!"

Remus quickly perched himself on the edge of the sofa next to Demi, who looked a little startled at Sirius' outburst. They all knew it took a lot for Sirius to yell, and you would have to be pushing his buttons constantly for him to have an outburst like this. "Padfoot, calm down," Remus asked placatingly.

"No, don't tell me to fucking calm down. You're going to sort out your shit, otherwise I'm going to lose my goddamn mind, alright?" Sirius said, sounding breathless. "Now, Moony, what's your issue?"

Remus was silent, and Demi turned to face him. "Silent treatment? Really? Grow up Remus," she said, attempting to antagonize him.

He sighed loudly, "You're so irresponsible! And- I just don't know if I can trust you," he admitted. Demi nodded, "You used an unforgivable curse," he said, "It's unforgivable."

Demi raised her eyebrows. "I know that. You know that. We all know that. But what I don't get is how you can still be mad about it. I was trying to help Sirius. You saw what she was doing to him. Did you just want me to leave him like that? He was in pain!" she argued.

Remus nodded, "but that doesn't give you the right to make that kind of a choice."

"Sirius, are you at all bothered by the choice I made? Be honest," Demi said, turning towards the black-haired man, who looked pensive for a moment.

"I know you're not proud of what you did, but I am glad you did it," Sirius replied, looking back at Remus. "I'm okay with it."

Remus nodded, before turning back to Demi. "This goes beyond that. We're- you and I, we're different than these guys" he said, gesturing to Sirius, who looked somewhat shocked. "We have so much stacked against us already. Do you really want to add another straw?" he asked.

Demi cocked her head, her brows furrowed in thought. "So that's why you're mad about it. I guess I never really thought about it like that."

"What are you two on about?" Sirius asked.

Remus sighed, "We're not fully witches and wizards. We have these other facets that some people - well actually many people, would find repulsive. I know that's the way it is, and I'm not about to pretend everything is all sunshine and daisies between werewolves and wizards. I don't know too much about vampires and wizards, but I bet things are pretty fraught there too," he added, turning to Demi, who nodded. "We're seen lesser than, and the moment we start to disobey and break rules, it - it gives people in power who hold these prejudices, like Pavor in third year, the opportunity to use it as reasons for why we shouldn't be allowed to practice magic."

"I'm so sorry Remus," Demi said, giving him a hug, shocking the man slightly, and also tugging at a few of his wounds, causing him to wince in pain. "Sorry, again," she said, quickly letting go.

Sirius grinned widely, "So, you two are done with your argument?" he asked, and the pair nodded. "Good, I'm glad to know I'm worth a month and a half of Moony's silent treatment. Really, it ups my self worth."

Laughing, the pair stood up and headed back down to breakfast, glad to put the whole mess behind them.
