Author: hello all. Been a super crazy few weeks. But since I've had this one on my phone for a while, I thought I'd give all the Raptor Pack lovers something to go "Awwww" over. I don't own but if I did...
"Okay girls. Have a look at your new home." Owen said, opening the door to the cage.
His four girls all tried to rush out of the cage at once... Instead only managing to land into a little wiggling heap on the grass.
His girls... a clutch of one month old velociraptors who had imprinted on him shortly after hatching.
Blue, Charlie, Delta and Echo.
They each only weighed three to five pounds each and were only about two feet long from snout to tail.
Echo screeched and pulled herself away from her sisters as the rest started to nip and snap at each other.
Owen clicked his tongue at them and called, "Hey!"
All four looked up at him briefly before untangling themselves to go investigate the new place.
Delta sniffed at a patch of grass before proceeding to dig a small hole.
Charlie and Echo joined her while Blue tackled his boots and began to gnaw on the toe.
"Hey you. Why aren't you digging with the rest?" Owen asked, picking her up.
She chirped at him and looked at her three sisters finished digging.
"Okay girls what is that for?" He asked.
They chirped at him and began to sniff the yard again.
Charlie investigated his motorcycle while Echo and Delta jumped at his clean laundry still hanging on the line.
Blue scrambled up onto his shoulder and nibbled his ear.
"Okay, okay you're hungry." He laughed, putting her down on the ground again.
Owen clicked his tongue at them and headed inside to fix up a small meal for them.
He was already a big meat eater himself so keeping a supply of raw meat handy was no problem for him.
A series of chirps and screeches drew his attention to his screen door.
Charlie and Blue had both climbed partway up the screen but couldn't figure out how to get down.
Delta was snapping at the screen and Echo was busy sniffing at his tool kit.
He laughed and opened the screen door which let Delta into the bungalow.
Charlie was still screeching and Blue was trying to bite the screen.
"Easy girls." Owen whispered, gently unhooking one set of the claws at a time from the screen then setting the baby raptors inside.
Echo darted inside when Blue was set down, narrowly missing getting her tail caught.
The girls were immediately fascinated by anything shiny where they could see their reflections... Except they didn't understand what they were seeing.
He laughed when Blue tried to tackle her reflection, only to fall onto her back with a confused hiss.
"Come on girls... Food." He told them.
Food was not a word in their vocabulary yet but they knew the smell of raw meat.
Owen sat on the couch with his girls at his feet, all chirping softly but waiting to be fed.
Each of them stepped forward when he called for them, taking the piece of meat that was offered.
They occasionally snapped at each other which got them a quick bop of the snout that made them yelp.
The last thing he needed was an all out war between the four of them.
