sentence.

and it's ejected entry plug, with Shinji placing his hands on the burning plug hatch

Like anyone would be
(Shinji, inside the entry plug like his father, asking if Rei is alright)
I am flattered by your fascination with me
(Rei and Shinji sharing a smile in the ruined entry plug)
Like any hot-blooded woman
I have simply wanted an object to crave
(Rei holding Gendo's broken glasses. The image becomes Shinji wearing them)
But you, you're not allowed
(Rei removing the glasses from Shinji face)
You're uninvited
(The image spins to show Gendo as a dark shadow, standing protectively and predatory over
Rei)
An unfortunate slight
(Rei goes to step toward Shinji, but is held back by the Gendo-shadow)
Must be strangely exciting
(In Rei's apartment, Shinji collects the paper that litters the floor)
To watch the stoic squirm
(Rei, saying, "Thankyou," and blushing)
Must be somewhat heartening
(Gendo, from his desk in the Geofront, watches Shinji and Rei in a blank space walk toward
each other)
To watch shepherd meet shepherd
(As they reach each other, the smile behind his hands becomes once again his neutral
expression)
But you, you're not allowed
(The pilots, in their plugsuits, are replaced in Gendo's view by their Evas)

(A brief flashback in both Shinji and Gendo's eyes, from when their lives became separate)
An unfortunate slight
(Shinji watching his father walk towards a Nerv helicopter, glimpsing Rei for a brief second
in the window)
(As the violin's play, images of Rei flash on the screen, the last being the DummyPlug
clones all looking at Shinji)
Like any uncharted territory
(Shinji standing, hesitant, in front of Rei's apartment door)
I must seem greatly intriguing
(Shinji and Rei, both seen lying on their beds, in deep thought)
You speak of my love like
(Toji telling Rei that she has a thing for Shinji)
You have experienced love like mine before
(Rei's hands clamping down on a wet rag, and Shinji telling her she would make a great
mother)
But this is not allowed
(Gendo, the ever-present shadow, appears in the elevator, and brings his hand to the
emergency stop button)
You're uninvited
(The doors open, and Shinji is ejected by his father. He turns to take one last look in the
elevator...)

(...To see Rei mouth, behind Gendo's back, the words, 'I'm sorry')
(Through the instrumental, we see Shinji run through the darkened streets of Tokyo-3, every
shadow looking like his father, to arrive at Rei's decrepit apartment. He opens the door, to
be faced with Rei, and as the music quietens to almost silence, he mouths the words, 'I love
you.')
I don't think you unworthy
(Rei and Shinji stand still for a moment, and then Rei steps back from the door)
I need a moment to deliberate
(She shuts the apartment door, and Shinji stands alone in the dark)
It really fits Rei, doesn't it? Apathetic, yet moving...
