p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"Silence rang out in the car as Mikael drove past the sign which read Welcome to Mystic Falls. Both Elijah and Klaus looked to another before looking through the windows of the car which revealed the rain which had been their own continuous companion their entire ride. Elijah looked back down at the book which he was reading. Timeline by Michael Crichton, before he had looked up to gaze out the window at the scenery which was going to lead to Klaus and his own personal hell. Feeling his phone vibrate against his leg he looked down to the screen and barely managed to keep a smirk from appearing on his face. The smirk would have been in poor company though because of the fact that his brother chose not to speak because of the effect which their conversation would have on their father. And his actions which would result from such a conversation. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"K- Kill me now. It would be less painful than this/p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"Elijah read the text and then looked up to focus on the moving van which both Esther and his sister Rebekah were driving. Which had meant that Elijah, along with Finn, Niklaus, and Kol had been forced to ride in the same car as their father. From New Orleans to Virginia. A hell which Elijah would not have forced upon anyone. Mikael liked to drive in silence. No music. No talking. A complete and utter hell for Kol who fourteen years old and could barely manage to sit still on a good day. Give Kol a long car ride and he was driving nearly everyone in the car crazy. Nika and he had been fine with listening to their own music, reading, and even drawing for the ride but Elijah was practically ready to rip off Kol's leg which had been steadily bouncing off the floor for three hours. His brother was getting even more fidgety which was making his father annoyed. And when his father was annoyed Elijah became extremely nervous. Mikael never managed annoyance very well. Elijah had never been more desperate for his own car which was beyond repair back in some junkyard in New Orleans. Mikael had said that there would be a replacement upon reaching Mystic Falls. Because his father had said that he was not going to lug around Niklaus' or his ass when Elijah could do it just as well. Mikael may have a certain hatred for them both, but Elijah knew that his hatred for having to be their own personal chauffeur was greater. Which would result in the new car. But that did not help in the least at this moment in time he thought with a sigh. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"Looking back up from his book, placing the bookmark so that he wouldn't lose his page, Kol making it impossible to read. Looking to the rain which had if possible begun to fall at an even harder pace he thought back to the events which had happened almost two months ago. Their brother had died around this time, the effects of the death still hanging above each of them like a dark cloud. Elijah and Klaus felt their brother's death heavily. Elijah knew that his father blamed him heavily for their little brother's death and to a smaller extent Nik as well. After the funeral their father had declared that they would be moving elsewhere to the family's surprise and to Nik and his own despair. The only reason that they hadn't moved sooner was because Mikael knew that there would be a reaction to the multitude of injuries Klaus and he had. New Orleans had memories of Henrik and Elijah was extremely loathe to leave them back there. The sudden feeling of his phone vibrating against his leg once again had him looking down once again. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"K- Do you think that Henrik's death is not the only reason that we are moving? There has to be another /E- Why do you think that? /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"K- Because I bet. In fact I'm absolutely certain that people were getting suspicious of just how badly Mikael was treating me up until a few months ago. And he would still yell at me. Around the end of the school year he stopped and in New York during the summer he did but I know that people noticed. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"E- Yeah. That is probably a major factor as to why exactly we moved. But let's try not to attract too much attention to ourselves if we can help it. I'd rather not inflict the fury of the dictator upon us./p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"K- Yeah. Alright. I just wish that I could know exactly why Mikael suddenly stopped with his vendetta against me. I know that he yells at you more so that's probably a contributing factor. Thank you./p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"E- That is a good question. And you're welcome. Anything to take some of the heat off you./p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"Elijah kept the fact that he knew exactly as to why their father had stopped hitting Klaus nearly as much as the man had been. There was no big change of heart which had occurred for the man. The man was still as much of a son of a bitch as he had been when Klaus had been his own personal punching bag which had been caused by Klaus being his half-brother. Elijah had decided that he was unable to be the one cleaning up after his brother's wounds any longer. He had figured out the exact way in which Mikael's focus could be taken away from his younger brother. Elijah had begun to do all of the things which would piss his father off. So that Mikael would focus more upon his own shortcomings which the man perceived there to be. Elijah had started going to all of the parties which he had known that his father and mother would never approve of, and he had even started sleeping around, and allowed rumors of him sleeping around to spread like wildfire so that it would distract his father from Niklaus. Most rumors which had been spread about him he allowed to remain. Because anything that would protect his brother was worth it. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"Just as he was about to text his brother he felt the car slowing down and upon looking up he saw that they were pulling into the drive of an enormous house. White with pillars which was accompanied by trees which progressed up the sides of the drive and even up to the house. The sense of foreboding which he had felt the entire drive was intensified upon seeing the house. Mystic Falls would not have as many places to hide as New Orleans did. They had no friends which would be able to keep them away from Mikael's anger. Elijah wanted to scream out because of the injustice of all of this. As each of his brother's climbed out of the car Elijah took a moment to take in a deep breath before following his brother's actions. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"Elijah watched as Mikael opened the boot of the car, listening as his father told each of his brothers to begin taking in luggage from the back of the car. Not looking back to check if they had listened, knowing that there would be obedience before he began to head toward the house. "Do you think that this is going to be any different Elijah?" Klaus asked his older brother as he took hold of a duffel bag in the back of the car. Elijah rather than replying just looked to him with a face that very clearly displayed exactly what he thought. The look which read 'not in the slightest' before he grabbed his own duffel and headed toward the house with Nik by his side. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"Mikaelson Mansion /p

p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"Later as Elijah was laying on the enormous bed in his room he heard the sound of his door opening up and upon recognizing the sound of his father's footsteps he immediately sat up. Looking to his father who had walked in the room before he was able to stand up from where he had been laying on the bed he tried to get up in a quick fashion before his father could say anything. Facing his father was always a threat in itself but he hoped that in this circumstance that it wouldn't be the wrong thing to do. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"Mikael continued to walk up to his son until he was a hair's breadth away from him, Elijah feeling his father's breath on his face. Mikael looked into his son's face, focusing upon his eyes and then reading something on his face which Elijah hoped was not going to end up being bad for him. Elijah tried not to react as Mikael reached out and took ahold of his upper arm, the old bruises causing pain which had begun to heal. "We're here to stay Elijah. Do you understand what that means?" Elijah focused upon his father awaiting to see if the older man wanted an actual answer or if he was going to tell him. Luckily it was the second. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;""It means that you are not going to be the local man whore like you were in New Orleans. I was surprised when you were in the hospital that when they checked to make sure you were clean that you actually were." Elijah did his best to get rid of any reaction which would have revealed how his father was getting to him. "Since we know reside in a small town that means that it will be all that much easier for your mother and myself to tell if you are partying and sleeping around as much as you did in New Orleans." Elijah felt nervous as his father continued to talk. Usually the man would just tell him what exactly was wrong with him and get straight to the point of hitting him. "No sleeping around Elijah. No huge parties." Elijah nodded upon realizing that his father wanted an actual response rather than him just standing there listening to him./p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;""And if I hear that you have been sleeping around and partying as hard as you were up until we moved here along with any more of your more unseemly activities then I will punish you as I see fit. You understand?" Elijah nodded, keeping his gaze upon his father as he watched the older man leave his room breathing a sigh of relief as soon as he heard the man's footsteps disappear. Elijah could only question as to how both Nik and his own life had gotten so bad. Having to trick his father so that he wouldn't know that he was protecting Nik. If Mikael ever found out about that then he knew that the man would make room for his younger brother. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"Elijah decided that he had had enough of suffering by himself before he headed over to where his brother's room was. The room next to his own which he knew that Klaus would have chosen. Ever since the two of them had been very young they had chosen rooms next to each other's because out of everyone in their family Elijah and Klaus were the closest. Everyone in their family was fairly close in age but Klaus and Elijah relied the most upon each other. Elijah's generally calm nature balancing out Klaus' sometimes volatile one. The two teenager's like two sides of the same coin. The two of them were in the same grade because of how Klaus had managed to skip a grade back in elementary school. While most brothers would have been annoyed Elijah had been overjoyed at the fact that his younger brother was going to be closer to him. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;""Father come in to tell you that you shouldn't sleep around? That you need to clean up your act?" Klaus said to his brother, not even opening his eyes from where he was laid out on his bed. Elijah rather than replying chose to just lay down on the bed next to him, feeling his body relax from being in the general proximity of his brother. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;""You never told me exactly why you started doing that by the way. Or why you suddenly started going to all of the parties that both Kol and me could never get you to before." Elijah took a moment to consider his answer, his eyes still closed before deciding to speak up. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;""Maybe I just wanted to be a part of the fun which you and Kol seemed to enjoy so much." His younger brother just started laughing and upon opening his eyes Elijah saw that Klaus had his hand held out. Offering the hand to his older brother Klaus, with a smirk fully displayed upon his face looked his brother in the eye. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;""Welcome to the dark side." /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;""I'm already there aren't I?" Klaus laughed as he heard what his older brother said in return to what had been said before he closed his eyes once again. The two brothers laid there quietly, neither of them talking. The only thing though that Elijah could think of as he thought about where they had moved was that the sign which had said welcome to Mystic Falls should have said. The sign should not have said that. The sign should have read. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"Welcome to Hell. /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"Because this was his literal Hell. /p
