Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail
Lucy sat beneath the stars feeling the grass under her as the cool wind soothed her overworked brain. She sensed a certain celestial spirit appear next to her and sit on the grass beside her. "Why are you crying?" Loke asked as he too looked up at the stars.
"I feel like a looser." She said trying to conceal her emotions. "I've dreamt up this amazing romance I want to have and I feel like I set the bar too high. I feel like no one is ever going to be what I want and that maybe I'm being greedy by asking for too much." She confessed.
"Maybe you just haven't met the right one yet." Loke suggested. Her eyes fell on him as she felt her sadness turn to frustration. Somehow, since he returned to the spirit world he'd become more feline. Or maybe she'd just never studied him hard enough to notice the small rounded ears nearly hidden by his mane of golden hair.
"I've never even had a boyfriend." She huffed irritated.
"Well that's a crime in itself." Loke said standing and offering her his hand. She took it and he pulled her to her feet and into a kiss. She felt her face turn bright red and the warmth of that blush spread across her entire body.
"L-Loke." She muttered when he let go.
"Tell me some of these requirements." He said casually as he walked beside her under the night sky.
"I just want something epic. An epic love story." She said.
"Well not to brag, but I am pretty epic." He laughed. She rolled her eyes. "What do you mean by epic?" He asked.
"Romance. I want someone to want to tell me everything about their day as we cuddle on the couch at night. I want them to bring me chocolate when I'm feeling bad and to tell me that I'm pretty even if I disagree. I want them to be cheesy and to tease me like a best friend." She said looking down. "I want him to know that I will not be defined by a man and respect me for the powerful woman I am." She added. "It's changed a bit since I was little." She said thinking of living in her father's house and the hero she wished would come to rescue her. "I wanted a big strong hero to come rescue me." She said.
"Yep you're asking for too much." He laughed at her angry expression. "You know I'm kidding right?" He asked genuinely. She looked up at him. "You deserve that kind of guy. Someone who will protect you and respect you." He said.
"Let's go home." She said walking home.
"You are pretty." He added looking at her with a smile.
"I guess I'm alright." She smiled before thinking about it. Loke. He was always there for her, respected her, protected her, loved her, teaser her. Loke was everything she wanted, how had she never seen this before? He was like this best friend she'd had all along but never realized the potential for more.
"So tell me when you've found the one and I'll give him a good thrashing for good measure." He laughed holding her hand as she walked along the wall beside the water outside her house so she wouldn't fall.
"What would you say to him?" She asked.
"I would tell him that if he ever hurt you he'd not only have me to answer to but also pretty much all of Fairy Tail." Loke said looking into her eyes.
"I-I think I've found the one." She murmured.
"Took you long enough." He laughed slipping a hand to her back and pulling her against him so he could kiss her thoroughly. When he let go she laughed.
"Not you!" She said pushing him softly. His eyes went wide before realizing she was joking. Growling in a very animalistic manner, he scooped her up bridal style and carried her inside.
