I don't own One Piece.
Roronoa Zoro usually liked blood, but it wasn't because he was some bloodthirsty demon that most people in the world thought he was. While it was true that he did live for the sword and was always ready to cut down an enemy, he didn't exactly delight in how much blood he had spilt.
Rather, Zoro saw blood as a tool. A tool that helped him to know just how much damage he had dealt to an enemy. An enemy that had to be stopped because he/she was in Zoro's way to defeat Hawkeyes Mihawk, or even worse, trying to hurt his nakama. And no one was going to hinder Zoro in his journey to become the greatest swordsman, much less lay a fatal blow on his friends.
And when Zoro was the one losing the blood, it helped him to judge how close he was to being defeated. How close he was to dying before he could fulfill his and Kuina's dream. How close he was to failing to protect his Captain and his crewmates before they could fulfill their own dreams. Getting reminded of these dreams will push Zoro to fight harder till his opponent had lost a great quantity of blood, as well as lost the fight.
This special red liquid was an extremely helpful tool for Roronoa Zoro, and he appreciated it. Zoro was even grateful for how much the sight of blood had helped him to judge the situation in his battles, and he thought he would always be grateful for it. Until now.
Because it was Tony Tony Chopper who had lost this red substance of life. Not the 'priest' who called himself Ohm and not the crazy guy named Wiper. Zoro had lost some blood in that stupid ordeal but it wasn't anywhere close to an alarming amount. It was his little and youngest nakama, the ship's doctor, who had lost the alarming amount.
Chopper was the one who took care of Zoro when he was injured; the one who thought Zoro was cool and awesome. Chopper was the one who went to Zoro when he was scared, the one who looked up to Zoro because the green-haired swordsman was one of his biggest heroes. Chopper was the one who Zoro himself admired and appreciated. Chopper who Zoro saw as a dear younger brother, someone he definitely needed to protect and watch over.
That someone was not supposed to lose any amount of blood, let alone enough to soak his brown fur coat. But Chopper did lose that much blood and Zoro felt horror and abhorrence at the sight of it. But above all, Zoro wished for once in his life that he didn't know what all the ruby red, life-supporting liquid, from both him and Chopper indicated. That while he himself will be alright, Chopper was injured badly enough to die.
But the green-haired swordsman did know. And because of that knowledge, as Ohm babbled about how Chopper got hurt in his ordeal, Zoro felt something within him snap. He felt a raging fire fill up his soul and body so much that he decided that Ohm wasn't going to get away with this. Yes, it was revenge and Zoro didn't like fighting for that kind of thing. But, Ohm had made his nakama bleed. And because of that alone, Zoro was going to make Ohm pay. And since Roronoa Zoro had plenty of strength left, he was going to make that stupid false priest pay hard.
Well...what do you think? This may be one of the...um...strangest fanfics I have done but I am pleased with how it turned out. Please review so I can become a better writer!
