Morning light drifted lazily in against the sheer, flowing drapes, casting a pale gold haze around the room. The scent of flowers, dew, and fresh growing herbs, just strong enough to wander into the room, could be smelled carried on the cool breeze as a passive reminder to the occupants of the room that it was a perfect day of mid-spring.

The pair sat together on the bed in the middle of the room, in a space just for them. He kissed just below her ear, whispering his thanks, making promises he fully intended to keep.

He promised his devotion, his protection; he promised that he would always make time to spend being a father, that at least one meal a day would be eaten together, always. He promised that no matter what she and their child would come first.

Looking up at her prince she smiled as she rested her forehead against his before kissing off the happy tears on his cheeks. He grinned at her, reaching one hand up to hold her head still as he kissed her cheek in return, as his other hand reached with a finger to stroke their babe's downy eyebrow in awe.
