I don't own Akagami no Shirayuki-hime
I'm actually surprised no one has done something like this.
Not many afternoons were this quiet. Most were filled to the brim with paperwork and inspections and other princely duties. Or in her case filled with tending to the sick, tending to her gardens and studying medicines.
Even though they were already married their days were filled with stolen moments. But, today they both sat together in the quiet of his study enjoying the warmth of the hearth and the softly falling snow outside their window.
Shirayuki sat with her back against Zen's chest, his cheek pressed comfortably against her hair. Their legs tangled lightly and their hands bumping gently together as they both explored and soothed the growing roundness of her stomach. In the total privacy of the room they bared her naked stomach.
The child's restlessness made moving around difficult for Shirayuki and in an act of compassion the head pharmacist allowed her the day off. Zen, after hearing the news finished all of the urgent business in record time and snuck away to be with her.
There had been some conversation but it had dissolved into an involved silence. Ever since the beginning of the pregnancy, Zen had taken to staring dreamily at Shirayuki and her stomach. It was like he was watching fireworks. So they sat, their pinkies entwined as they grazed their baby over the bump and back down. During one of the repetitions they felt something press against their hands.
When they both raised their hands they saw their baby's foot print pressing against the soft skin of Shirayuki's stomach. They watched it as it moved and disappeared in awed silence. When it vanished they looked at each other and shared a happy smile.
