A loud roar and then a booming sound deafened their ears. Their bodies tensed and Greer slowly pulled away to look. She gasped and Levi turned slightly, his eyes wide.

"GET ON!" the unfamiliar titan snapped and held out its hand.

Greer saw that the other titan that was approaching them had been decapitated as well as all the other titans around them.

"NOW!" the titan screeched and Levi grabbed Greer's hand and pulled her onto the titan's open palm with Evie still in Greer's arms.

"ON ME!" the titan yelled to the remaining scouts.

The remaining survey corps scouts landed on it as it took off into the forest.

The Titan Village...

The titan stopped running when it got to a small village by the mountains and set Greer, Evie, and Levi down.

Levi wasn't doing well. Sweat poured down his temple and blood steadily seeped out of his mouth. His breathing was labored and the wheezing was getting worse. Greer wiped the blood from his lip and touched his cheek.

"You're going to be fine. We're going to get you help," she said and he stared at her.

She seemed to have her composure back and her mind seemed more focused. She brushed some damp hair from his face and he shivered and closed his eyes, his head resting tiredly against her shoulder.

"Who did that to him? Did I do that?" Evie asked panicked.

Greer ignored her, keeping focus.

"Hey!" she called to the titan and it looked down at her.

"Please, he needs help!" she called up and the titan leaned forward.

Steam engulfed its nape and Sully emerged from the titan's neck.

"Don't ya worry lass, we'll fix Levi up just right," he said and Levi stared at the man wide eyed.

"You?" he breathed and Sully grinned.

"Ya remember me; that's good!" Sully cheered.

Then he became serious.

"Can we get a stretcher out here?! Come on friends, the Ackerman ain't doin' so well! We can't have him dyin' on us!" Sully snapped and people ran out with a stretcher.

"He's not going anywhere without us," Greer said firmly and Sully nodded.

"He's in good hands, but I hear ya. Ya don't separate, I know that much," he nodded.

They helped Levi onto the stretcher and Sully approached him with a syringe. Greer tensed.

"Easy lass, he's in a lot of pain and this here will just ease it a bit. Good ol' morphine," Sully said calmly and Greer was unsure.

"It's f-fine," Levi breathed, pain clear in his eyes and she stepped back, allowing Sully to inject him.

Greer eased Levi back and smiled.

"G-Greer, you're in charge," he said softly and she nodded.

"We'll be right here when you wake up, okay?" she whispered and he nodded tiredly as his eyelids grew heavy and he passed out.

Greer swallowed the lump in her throat watching his hand fall to the side. He was just sleeping she knew, but it still startled her more than she would have liked to admit. She watched as they put an oxygen mask over his nose and mouth.

"Let's get 'em to the medical unit. They're all high priorities yeah? So, make sure they're treated that way. No funny business," Sully ordered and Greer frowned.

"Where are you going?" she asked and Sully grinned.

"I got to go tell the boss that you all arrived. Cards on the table lass, the little sister is going to have to be locked up good and tight for now, yer understand?" he half joked and Greer was about to respond when Sully waved her off.

"I'll come back later. For now, go get treated and then rest some. Ya earned the break," he smiled and left.

The squad followed the others to the medical unit. Everyone was on guard.

Two Days Later...

Levi wasn't used to sleeping for long periods of time, usually getting in two to three hours here and there. So, when his eyes slowly opened and the events of two days before flooded back to him, he panicked. He shot up, but was stopped by two firm hands and a soft throbbing in his rib cage. His wide eyes met Greer's and his body relaxed slightly.

"Greer," he whispered and she smiled at him.

She looked a little pale, but her smile still lit up her face.

"It's good to see you awake Captain, though I must admit, I was happy that you slept as much as you did," she mused lightly and he blinked and looked around.

The squad was in the room with them. Most were passed out, but Mikasa, Armin and Eren remained awake.

"Are you feeling better Captain?" Armin asked and Levi nodded.

"It was weird seeing you hurt that bad. I was beginning to think you were indestructible," Eren mused and Levi was about to speak when Mikasa spoke.

"What you did was foolish," she said and all eyes widened.

"Excuse me?" Levi glared at her and she glared right back.

"You should have never attacked Evie by yourself. You should have left her to me," she added and Levi stared at her.

Silence.

"You're right, I should have," he admitted and Mikasa's eyes widened.

She wasn't expecting that.

Silence.

"Thank you Mikasa...for disobeying my orders yet again," he mused lightly and after a moment she smiled.

"Anytime," she mused back and he smirked.

They had grown closer over the past few years. Levi turned his attention to Greer.

"Evelyn...is she—"

"—she's in their holding cells in the basement of the main hall. They won't let us see her yet, but provide us with updates," she explained.

Silence.

"How long was I out?"

"Two days," she spoke softly and his eyes widened.

"Have you found out anything?" he asked but she shook her head.

"No, we were waiting for you to wake up before we did anything. They gave us food and new clothes. Sully hasn't stopped by since our first encounter, but I'm kind of relieved that he didn't. We were all tired. Some of us still are," she mused lightly noting the others still passed out behind her.

Silence.

"Have you slept any?" he asked and she smiled weakly.

"I'm not tired," she said.

"Greer—"

"—Levi," she cut him off and his eyes widened slightly.

Her expression softened immediately.

"Captain...please," she added and he stared at her.

"I needed to make sure everyone was okay," she admitted.

Silence.

"We can't stay here," he said and she nodded.

"You're awake so now we can get some answers," she said and stood.

They woke the others and left the room. They walked down the hall cautiously and came to a door. Soft murmurs were behind it and though they tried to listen, they couldn't make out the words. Levi grabbed the knob and pushed the door open quieting the murmurs.

"Well look who it is?! Up an outta bed in two days like a true Ackerman!" Sully cheered.

He was sitting in a dining hall with a few others. He got up and walked over to the squad.

"We were startin to get worried! You were hurtin a lot more then you let on friend," he mused.

"We?" Levi asked and Sully nodded.

"Yeah me and the boss," he said nonchalantly.

"But first, before all that, I want ya to get settled some. Yer not prisoners, but please understand we can't let ya go just yet," he explained.

"Why?" Eren asked.

Sully smiled at him.

"Well friend, you're quite the popular lad with those folks over in Marley. They sent one of their big guns for ya and ya took er' out but good. So good she is down in our holdin cell on er' best behavior," he spoke quickly.

"Now I don't believe they'll be attackin anytime soon, but those over in Marley can surprise ya so we want to be prepared," he explained further.

"And if that don't satisfy ya, then think of it as doin me a solid for bringing yer precious friend back from the dead, yeah?" he added and Greer blushed.

She glanced at Levi and was surprised he seemed completely unfazed.

"We can't stay long," Levi said after a moment.

Sully nodded.

"Give us three days. We'll patrol the shore for ya in good faith. We're on yer side friend. Let us help," he said and Levi nodded after some hesitation.

"I want to send one of mine with yours to let the others within the wall know we're alive," he said and Sully nodded.

"I'll take them myself," he promised and Levi turned to Jean, who nodded quickly in understanding.

"Will we be meeting with your boss?" Levi asked and Sully grinned.

"Of course; tomorrow in fact. We just want ya to rest some now. We can't imagine how tired ya all are," he answered simply.

"I'll have some of my folks show ya to yer rooms. They've been prepared for ya likin and they're all next door to each other. If ya have any problems just let me know. I'll handle 'em," he said and left the dining room with Jean following close behind.

Greer turned to Levi.

"Why aren't we asking more questions?" she asked lowly and he looked around.

"Because he's not in charge here and the questions we have should be answered by the one in charge," he said quietly.

"Do you think he could be lying? Maybe there is no 'boss' and he's it," Mikasa spoke up.

Levi nodded.

"It's crossed my mind, but I don't know why he would hide that from us," Levi admitted.

"Besides, we're not at our best and we don't have our gear or weapons. Keep to yourselves, but keep your ears open," he said and they all nodded.

Into the Night...

Levi had searched the entire room he was currently staying in. He didn't find anything suspicious. Now he sat on a couch looking out the window. He realized that this was the first time he was staying outside the walls and felt relatively safe. He stared up at the stars off in his own world when there was a soft knock on his door. He turned as the door opened and Greer walked in. She shut the door quietly and walked over to him, sitting next to him on the couch and looking up at the stars. They lit up the sky and were the only light source in the room.

Silence.

"You should be sleeping," he murmured and she smiled, her eyes not leaving the stars.

"And miss this? I don't think I've ever seen so many stars," she whispered and he stared at her.

Silence.

Silence.

"You haven't slept since we've arrived here. You need—"

"—why did you hesitate?" she asked suddenly, cutting him off, and he furrowed his eyebrows.

"With?" he asked and she looked at him.

"Two days ago, I asked you if Evelyn had hurt you and you said you hesitated. Why?" she asked and he held her stare.

Silence.

Silence.

"I had the upper hand for a while in our fight, but I was stalling with the final blow and she knew it. I was trying to think of a way to remove her from her titan without killing her," he paused.

Silence.

"I found an opening and went for it, but...she spoke to me. And I made the mistake of listening," he admitted.

"She caught my ropes while I was distracted," he stopped.

Silence.

Silence.

"What did she say to you?" she asked and Levi broke her eye contact.

Silence.

"Levi—"

"—she said, 'please don't.' So, I didn't," he cut her off weakly, his eyes closing.

He felt her hands on his cheeks and opened his eyes to meet hers.

"You love her. It's normal that you hesitated," she said and he looked at her.

"That's no excuse. You love her too. If I had done what needed to be done then you wouldn't have had to do what you did," he whispered and she shook her head.

"It had to be me. And besides, whatever I did seems to have snapped her out of whatever daze she was in. I swear it looked like she was waking up from a long sleep," she whispered back.

Silence.

After a moment, he leaned his head against hers gently.

"Stay," he whispered and she nodded as her lips met his slowly.

He returned the kiss immediately, his eyes closing and a small groan escaping his throat. He didn't realize how much he craved her touch as he unconsciously moved closer to her on the couch. His hands rose to her cheeks deepening the kiss and her hands fell to the hem of his shirt, lifting it up and over his head, dropping it to the floor carelessly. She stood up then and was deliberate in her movements as she removed her clothes. She pulled her shirt over her head and dropped it to the floor. His eyes never left her as she unbuttoned her pants and pulled them down, stepping out of them. He went to stand when she stopped him, pushing him back onto the couch and settling in his lap carefully, their lips meeting again.

He held her close to him, one arm wrapped around her back while the other rested on her thigh, squeezing it lightly. She broke the kiss, biting his bottom lip lightly and trailed soft kisses down his neck, nipping at his collar bone. Levi shivered, his grip on her tightening. She continued her ministrations and her hands lowered to his pants, unbuttoning them slowly. She slipped her hand passed the fabric and he jolted slightly at her touch. She began to slowly stroke him and his breathing increased. He was already hard and her slow strokes were torturous. She nibbled on his ear and then muffled his gasp with a kiss.

His hands roamed, going over every inch of her, causing her to tremble. He was very familiar with her body as he leaned forward pressing his lips to her throat. She moaned softly, relishing the feel of his lips on her skin. Her strokes increased in speed as his lips trailed all over her body, nipping and licking. She could feel his body tense up and stopped her strokes suddenly. Levi pulled her closer as she removed her hand, his face flushed and his breathing labored. It had been awhile since she'd seen him so flustered and she liked it.

Silence.

Silence.

She smiled and bit his bottom lip playfully, getting him to release a smirk. And then he was off the couch with her quickly. She tensed and her smile faded, a look of concern washing over her features. He lowered her down onto the bed and settled between her legs. Her hands skimmed his rib cage and he smiled lightly at her concern.

"I'm fine," he whispered and felt her relax.

She arched her back rubbing against him and elicited a sharp hiss from the soldier above her. He took hold of her leg and buried himself deeply within her. Her eyes widened and she gasped, her breath hitching in her throat. Levi paused, trying to control himself as an overwhelming sensation of pleasure exploded within them. He pulled out and thrust back into her, burying his head in her neck to muffle his gasps.

She hugged him to her protectively, trying to keep him as close to her as possible. Sweat trailed down the side of his head as he continued his thrusts, never breaking momentum. Greer bit his shoulder trying to muffle her moans as best she could. He lifted her leg, allowing himself more access and she cried out as his thrusts hit deeper. He caught her lips with his and she returned the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him down onto her. She was at her end and the orgasm hit her hard, her walls contracting in bursts of pleasure. She threw her head back in pure ecstasy, her mind going blank to the world. Levi gasped into her mouth as her walls clenched around him and he came hard, holding her body to his tightly.

Silence.

Silence.

They didn't move or speak for a while, both hoping to extend the bliss a little longer. Greer pressed her lips to his sweaty forehead, his hair tickling her nose lightly. It had gotten longer over the past few years, and she wondered briefly if he was going to ask her to cut it soon. He rolled off her onto his side and immediately pulled her closer to him pressing his lips to hers in a gentle kiss. She rested her head on his arm and he caressed her cheek, watching her eyes become heavy.

"Sleep," he whispered and she sighed tiredly.

He gently brushed her hair back making it harder for her to keep her eyes open.

"We should talk..." she whispered and he shook his head.

"In the morning," he said softly and Greer's eyes closed and she was out in seconds.

Memory...

Greer was exhausted as she walked up to her door. It had been a long day and all she wanted was some sleep. The house was dark when she walked in and she frowned. Usually Evie was up and waiting for her, but she assumed since she was later than usual that Evie had just gone to bed. She removed her boots and walked further into the house. Her eyes widened and she paused at the sight before her. Her heart swelled and she covered her mouth. Isabel was passed out on the couch and Farlan was out like a light on the floor, his head leaning back against the couch cushion. Levi was sitting on the sofa chair with Evie snuggled in his arms. They were both fast asleep.

It was the most beautiful thing Greer had ever seen.

They all looked peaceful as they slept. Greer pulled out extra blankets and draped them over each one. She adjusted the blanket on Evie when Levi grabbed her wrist startling her. She put her finger to her lips and smiled at him. Levi blinked and his body relaxed.

"Go back to sleep," she whispered and his eyes lowered again.

He tugged on her wrist, pulling her down some and she smiled and leaned in as he pressed his lips to hers in a chaste kiss. He must have really been disoriented. She placed a quick kiss on his head and headed upstairs to shower. She stripped off her clothes and stepped into the steaming shower, the hot water massaging her aching bones. She heard the bathroom door open and smiled as he stepped into the shower with her.

"Evie?" she asked.

"Still asleep with Farlan and Isabel downstairs," he answered and let the hot water pour over him.

"I'm sorry I woke you," she whispered.

"I had to wake up eventually," he said and her eyes saddened slightly.

"I know you don't get very much sleep and—"

"—it's not a big deal. I would have been upset if I had missed you come in," he said moving closer to her.

"Why?" she smirked.

"It's been a while since I've seen you. I've missed you," he admitted and she blushed.

She leaned up, her lips capturing his in a steamy kiss. He returned the kiss eagerly and she pushed him so his back hit the wall. She pressed against him and he let out a small groan into her mouth. His hands rose to her cheeks, deepening the kiss, savoring the taste of her. He turned her so that she was against the wall and lifted her leg. She hooked it around his waist and gasped feeling him enter her. Her walls clenched around him and he grunted, burying his face in her neck to muffle himself as they fell into an intense rhythm. He held her securely against the wall, each thrust harder and deeper than the next and she bit into his shoulder to keep from crying out. His hands moved expertly, going up to her breasts, massaging them. She looked up and their eyes met. They held the gaze for a moment before he kissed her. She felt his tongue trace over her bottom lip and she shuddered, almost succumbing to the pleasure.

His thrusts became slower, gentler, as they stared at each other. He gently entwined his hand with hers raising it above her head as he continued his thrusts. She could feel the buildup in her stomach and knew he did too as his breathing increased. He closed his eyes, his grip on her waist tightening. She gripped onto his shoulders and kissed him breaking the kiss only to hold his gaze as they both reached their end. They both gasped, they're bodies shuddering, but they never broke eye contact.

She leaned her forehead against his as they both worked to regulate their breathing. Their eyes were closed, each one replaying the last few minutes in their heads. She pulled back and pressed her lips to his quickly.

"Wash off and come to bed," she whispered and left the shower.

Levi washed off and exited the shower, walking into the bedroom quietly. He saw her eyes were closed and slipped into the bed, tucking his arm around her waist and pulling her close to him. He buried his face in the back of her neck, inhaling her scent and closing his eyes, joining her in sleep.

End Memory.

Greer's eyes opened slowly and she lifted her head. The sun was rising slowly and showered the room in a dim light. Levi's grip tightened and she turned to face him. She stared at him for a moment before a sly smirk fell on her face.

"I'm a very lucky woman," she whispered and he smiled lightly.

"Lucky isn't the word I'd use," he whispered back and she pressed her lips to his slowly.

When they pulled away, she stared at him, her face becoming serious. He frowned slightly.

"What is it?" he asked and she thought about her words carefully.

"How do you see this ending?" she asked.

"See what ending?" he asked unsure and her eyes lowered.

"This war with the titans...or with Marley rather," she corrected herself.

Silence.

"I don't know."

"Best guess then," she pushed and he stared at her.

Silence.

"It's going to get worse before it gets better. There won't be any winners...just survivors. And then, one day, there will be peace again," he said bluntly and his eyes widened seeing a tear trickle down her cheek.

He sat up and brushed it away quickly, pulling her closer as she covered her face.

"Look at me," he said and she moved her hands and sniffed, her eyes glassy.

"What's gotten into you?" he asked and she wiped at her eyes.

"Nothing, I'm sorry," she said and he brushed a few more tears away.

"Be honest," he whispered and she sighed.

"When we went to the medical unit to get checked out the day we arrived, they told me that—" there was a knock on the door and Greer jumped.

"Captain, Eren isn't in his room!" Armin yelled from outside and Levi shot up with Greer.

They got dressed and Greer looked for a place to hide when he stopped her.

"That's not necessary," he said, his tone almost amused.

She stared at him wide eyed.

He opened the door.

"Where's Mikasa?" he asked and Armin held up two sets of gear.

"We're all in the dining hall waiting for your orders. Mikasa found our gear. She told me to bring one for you and Greer," he said and Levi nodded and took it, handing one to Greer.

Greer made a note to talk to Mikasa about what she knew. They suited up and stormed into the dining hall. Sully grinned. Eren was there with the squad and Mikasa looked pissed.

"The boss just wanted to meet him, is all," Sully tried, but Levi's face was stone cold.

"I think it's time you make good on your word. Where is this 'boss' of yours? We want to meet him now," he snapped, his authoritative voice fully returned.

"You'll meet the boss in—"

"—no, our captain said now," Mikasa growled, her hands on her blade hilts and Sully sighed.

"I'm right here," a soft voice came from behind them and Greer froze.

Everyone had turned and she glanced at Levi, whose eyes were wide with shock and disbelief.

Silence.

Silence.

"Greer?" the voice called and Greer didn't want to turn around.

She shook her head. It wasn't her. It couldn't be. She stared at Levi, refusing to turn around. Levi swallowed the lump in his throat and blinked glancing at Greer. She turned around and her eyes widened, immediately becoming glassy as she stared at her mother.

"Oh Greer…we have so much to discuss," Millie Elliot said and Greer felt her world blur before it all went black.
