Hello my wonderful readers!
I said before Friday and I delivered!
Well as promised here it is! The next chapter has finally come, I am working on fixing the previous chapters grammatically and punctuation wise. Maybe a few more details changed, nothing too major.
Please don't bite my head off too badly, I must refresh my memory hard core with this.
So, our story continues….
Aedan was by no means in a hurry to get to the manor but had processed enough thought to know that his delayed driving pace was probably irking Haruhi.
Haruhi on the other hand was trapped in a hurricane of emotions.
She was confused as to why Kyoya did not tell her the truth from the start, upset of how she treated him after he saved her, and pissed off because of how he ignored her for two months. Yet recently before that incident he enjoyed every little manhandling, harassment session he could manage to ensnare her in. Worst of all she was embarrassed by how much she had to keep telling herself she hated those moments, right?
She needed to keep herself from becoming flustered at those inappropriate thoughts.
As if on que she could see the Ootori estates in sight, they had arrived, and she was unprepared.
Pulling around to the side entrance that was closest to Kyoya's quarters the car came to a stop. Employees were not to use the main entrance anyhow which would allow her to slip by his personal staff unnoticed.
Or so she thought.
Stepping out of the car she noticed a figure at the top of the stairs leading to the entrance.
Hesitantly walking up the steps to the manor Haruhi realized it was the elder butler from whom she had recognized on her first day was standing at the top of the stairs, an obstacle between her and the entrance.
"Miss Fujioka, I was informed you were to be out for the evening, Young Master Kyoya is indisposed at this time. I am to inform you that once you have completed your given assignments you are free to retire for the evening." The butler said decisively.
It seemed that he was made aware of her responsibilities, how much did he know though?
"Uh, yes Master Kyoya wanted me to, um…" she tried to think up a plausible explanation that would get her past the gatekeeper.
"Mr. Tanaka! It's been too long, how are you doing?" suddenly hearing Aedan called out to the butler 'Tanaka', the elderly man raised his head to acknowledge Aedan, she looked back at him as he was now out of the car waving to them.
The old butler raised an eyebrow "Mr. Minamoto, what are you doing here with Miss Fujioka? I was told that you-"
"Yeah about that, one of the contracts for the construction group was not acceptable to them, management said there was a few signatures missing and they would only accept a new written document and his personal approval." He was way too good at this.
"Also they complained about the time frame demands and that it would take double the staging period time to build than originally planned." Aedan didn't even flinch with his well thought up lie.
It was so legitimate it was a bit intimidating how casual it sounded, she would have to ask him to teach her since everyone made it perfectly clear at how dreadfully mediocre her falsifying skills were, but that was for another day.
Gazing back up to the butler who now looked as if he had smelled something foul.
"Honestly, how they dare insult the Young Master is in poor taste. Those documents were review several times, nothing was overlooked or missing. You'd think with their level of station they would be grateful for the opportunity to be employed by the Ootori Family" he sneered.
Wow, even the staff of this family was snobbish… or maybe it was a natural defensive they had built up over time?
"The audacity!" Aedan exclaimed, it took a lot to hold back the scoff she almost let loose, but she kept herself composed.
"But she needs this done immediately before they close the office for the night, Master Kyoya would be most displeased and the blame would fall upon her naturally."
'Naturally?!'
She would have punched Aedans arm so hard if she was close enough. Mr. Tanaka seemed to ponder momentarily, no doubt whether he should take the papers himself or allow her to pass.
"You have so much to do already Mr. Tanaka, more important than just running around like an errand boy, that's why we have her!"
When she returned she was damn sure she would give him a good punch. She knew he was grinning as he egged her on, knowing full well she couldn't act out in front of the esteemed butler.
"Indeed you are correct Mr. Minamoto, off with you then." He waved his hand at her in a somewhat rude dismissal.
Hastily she made her way past the elder Mr. Tanaka without any word before he could change his mind.
Making her way up the grand staircase and through the long corridors contemplating on what she should even say to him, on the drive there she had been so focused on dealing with the rush of emotions she hadn't considered anything else.
After many twists and turns she arrived at the door of his study that she was almost sure he would be in.
She froze, only for a moment.
Should she throw open the door demanding answers and why he lied or should she simple bang on the door till there was an answer.
She decided on a third option.
She quietly opened the door all the way expecting to see him look up from whatever papers that were occupying his attention and see her with a surprised, if not angry, expression.
But when she had looked to the desk that he was indeed sitting at it was her who was surprised.
He was not overwhelmed with papers nor was he drinking tea or any activity she might have suspected of him. There he was, the great and fearsome Kyoya; asleep in his chair.
As silently as she could she entered the room cautiously, shutting the door behind her. Discreetly she tip-toed her way across the large study and around the desk till she was a mere two feet from him.
His head was tilted in any way that the moonlight gently illuminated his features, something was different though, his glasses were absent from his person as they lay on the desk next to him. Asleep he looked so… so defenseless and innocent, one never would have thought he was the fearsome intellectual that had dirt on almost anyone in the nation!
Well maybe that was overstating his abilities, or was it?
By the looks of it he had fallen asleep reading a book, said book was resting on his knee and with even a single twitch it would have fallen to the floor disturbing his seemingly peaceful nap. If that book dropped it would look really bad for her considering she had snuck in instead of barging in like she really wanted to.
But then as she examined the book closer she noticed it was not just any book, it was the black book of which he was so fond of carrying around. What secrets were scribbled down on those fine sheets that probably cost more than her weekly grocery allowance.
If she could manage to sneak that little book away, she could… well she didn't really know what she could do with it. Maybe use it as leverage incase things went south for her in the coming argument she knew would follow his awakening.
That sounded like blackmail… when had she ever blackmailed anyone? It made her even more hesitant knowing that it was not just anyone she would be up against, it was Kyoya.
Carefully as to not disturb the sleeping tiger, she grabbed the edge of the book with two fingers, slowly sliding the book out.
'Why the hell do I even care if he fell asleep like this?! I'm mad at him not trying to coddle him!'
Another inch and it would be free.
Almost there…
Got it!
As soon as it was free from his touch she staggered backwards quickly as if he would pounce her any moment. She crept around the floor to the desk where if he awoke she still could not be seen.
Lowering herself onto the floor she stared down at the book.
She must have completely lost her mind, but it was too late to turn back now, the book was in her trembling hands.
Taking a deep breath, she pinched the corner of the cover and opened to the front page. It was a long table of contents, of course, he was a business head so one of the most important qualities was organization, he liked to think himself as a perfectionist, which really wasn't far from the truth.
Skimming down the list her eyes focused on several point.
Ouran HC Budget
That wasn't surprising considered he was after all in charge of their finances, she wouldn't even dare open to that page for she knew how extravagant and frivolous their club activities were.
Tamaki Damages/ Repair Costs
Thatwould have been so tempting to read if she hadn't already taken a good guess that those expenses would most likely be more costly than the host club budget.
Tamaki's HC 'Adventure' Planning (Make note to throw out submarine magazines)
…Okay this was getting on the point of ridiculous.
Going further down the list she stopped when she noticed a certain name.
Haruhi Fujioka
She had a page of her own? Well of course she would, he obviously would keep track of all her debt and work hours. Flipping through the pages till she found her designated page she saw that at the top of the page was her name, address, and contact information. But the list below, that was what caught her attention.
Peeking up over the desk she made sure that Kyoya was still unconscious, once she saw that he was, she turned her attention back to her page, reading the list.
Tea service/presentation- grade D …. + 10,000 Yen
That bastard added to her debt because he didn't like the tea she made! Anger slowly started to bubble in her stomach.
*Note hide the Earl Grey tea
…Okay maybe that was called for.
She did become accustomed to using Earl Grey as a safety net. It was not long after he noticed the pattern that he informed her that drinking too much of Earl Grey could harm you from excess intake of the bergamot oil in the tea. It wasn't like she did it on purpose though.
She continued reading.
Took exemplary structural notes on building X in zone 48 …-32,500
He watched her take notes? How did he even know what she wrote down? But wait, he subtracted that from her debt?
Class: Chemistry, ranked in top 5% …. -13,000 Yen
The classes she took were also contributing factors, well that she expected.
That's it, that's what this whole page was, a list of her performance, and how he graded her on her actions was reflected in the amount he would add or subtract from her debt.
Smiled while sorting through building permits in Zone 32…-11,300 Yen
Her smile? Shouldn't he have put that towards the actual work?
Organized building permits in Zone 32….. -7000 Yen
There it was, but he took more off her debt for her smile rather than the actual work itself, why would he do such a thing? Checking the dates of each encounter she saw there were similar entries from the past two months, when he had been completely ignoring her.
Continuing down the page she could not make sense of any of it.
The anger she had felt in her stomach shortly before turned into a burning sensation like acid. She didn't understand, why didn't he say anything to her? Two months of silence and nothing…
She was more confused now than ever as to what was really going on in the mind of Kyoya Ootori, but she wanted to find out.
She wanted answers.
Closing the book she hugged it to her chest, she needed to speak to him about this, about everything.
Slowly and quietly she slid her legs from under neither her body while still crouching so she would stay behind the desk surface and out of sight.
As she started to turn her body, that's when she noticed it.
Out of the corner of her eye she noticed a pair of legs that were standing to her right.
There, she could feel it.
The fiery sensation she had become accustomed to every time his eyes were upon her.
She looked up, only to be greeted by those searing eyes, burning into her very core.
Oh god he had been standing behind her, when did he move? How long had he been watching her and how did she not hear him?
"Tell me Miss Fujioka" he voiced harshly.
Oh shit.
"How should I punish you this time?"
Ooh dear, oh dear, what will happen to our dear heroine?
Short chapter, yes my dears I know, but it's not the end maybe the beginning?
The next chapter will be longer, I'm already working on it just let me just get back in the groove of things. All shall be well
Until next time!
