*I don't own Jane and the Dragon or its characters
It's been a busy month for Jatd FanFiction. Chronically Lazy, KnifeInTheCrayonBox, Sarastro the Queen o the Night, SapphireShelle91 are the latest writers updating thier stories. I haven't been so much busy, though I have been working with several genres. Lack of inspiration has slowed me down, but I plan on doing more reading and perhaps that will kickstar my muse. Anyway, I'm happy for everyone whose writing great FanFiction for this fandom, it really is heartwarming. Hope you enjoy, and don't forget to review since it feeds my muse. Thanks to Amelle Kyre for the correction, I appreciate it.
Standing on the edge of a cliff was like touching the end of the world. Underneath her feet was the beckoning sea splashing against the cliffside. To jump or not to jump, not to jump was the logical answer. Though, the thought of a nice swim would wash away all her troubles, turning it into nothing but salt air and sea foam.
How could he forget his promise? She thought as the breeze threatened to blow her away.
They were going to run away together, to new lands and adventures for as long as they both shall live. But, right at the moment he was off getting married to that sickly girl of large fortune, which everyone knew had not long to live. He forgot his principal, he forgot his pride, but most of all he had forgotten her. Whether she liked it or not, she had a feeling she would lose. If she had spoken up, if she had not waited so long, perhaps it would be her standing before a grand audience in her best garb marrying her comrade, but she forgot. She forgot to tell him, to show herself worthy sooner. Worthy might not be the right word, but to show he was worthy is more like it. He mattered, he always did, but it was too late.
So there she was on the edge of the cliff, where the end of the world could be touched. But she stepped back, away from danger, away from the edge. She had her better days, even worse days then this, but she will get through it, she had too. Duty will keep her busy, and Dragon was a handful that would not leave her wanting for adventure, but he would still be in her world. As long as he was alive, he was in her world, breathing the same air.
Perhaps one day he will forget their promise, but she knew she never would.
