A/N~ Those of you who read the story right after it was published: I am sorry for the strange text all over the story. Fortunately, I've fixed it now. Thanks for reading! Also, I've noticed that all of my stories make Lucy way too badass and OP, so in this one, I hereby swear that I will only make minor adjustments to Lucy's character. Please do tell me how to make my characters' personality more like... well... their personality, because apparently I write with too much blandness to a person's character. For those of you who read through this Author's Note, thank you and please enjoy my story! Well, for those who didn't read this, enjoy the story anyways.
Disclaimer(I didn't know I had to do a disclaimer until someone told me about it. Oops): Fairy Tail and the characters all belong to Hiro Mashima, and the only thing that belongs to me is the story plot and my only two OCs.
Summary
When the world was new and all ethernanos that existed was frozen in icy terrain and empty darkness, a sudden glimmer of light came to be, and with it came the world of Earth Land as we know it today, full of flora and fauna and full of magic. And now, thousands of years later, a young, purple-haired girl is found on Tenrou Island, an island still full of secrets and mystery, even to the guild to which it belongs. New challenges await Fairy Tail as they try to solve the puzzle of an amnesic girl and the sudden changes occurring in all of Earth Land.
Prologue
"I feel it. That glimmer of something. It's eating away at my domain." Corrupting, poisoning the precious nothingness it previously held. She didn't like it. Could she destroy it? "What are you?"
"I am your equal, your balance. With this the world will finally be made whole." A voice? Who? Where? When? Nothing but Herself existed here. Was there another 'place' from which this sound emanated?
Hm? A light? Previously the concept of 'light' had not existed… Ah! It blinds! It is… warm… What is warm? 'She' did not like it! Everything should be 'cold'!
"Wait! What are you doing? No! I won't allow this to happen! Stop, or I will destroy everything you are!" She loomed over the Thing, the light, and oh, it was burning. It was burning hot as an inferno, but calm as a windless day. What is calm and wind and day? These words kept coming to Her head, and along with them endless images of more of the same light that now meant 'hope' and 'love'.
She couldn't allow this to happen. She liked it the way it was before. Nobody could chip away at her essense like this! She was constant! She was always!
She was-!
Lucy woke with a strangled gasp and lingering resentment in her veins. She could have sworn she'd just witnessed something otherworldly and important, but the dream was already fading away, leaving only the lightest of impressions on her mind.
She sighed heavily, knowing at this point that trying to remember her dreams always ended in disappointment. As she made to get out of bed, however, she was stopped by a pair of arms around her waist.
A pair of very warm arms. In the middle of June. In Magnolia, famous for its sweltering summers.
Lucy's eye twitched. She slowly craned her head to look behind her, and…
Of course. Of flipping course, Natsu my-body-temperature-could-burn-you-alive Dragneel was soundly sleeping in her bed, mocking her suffering with his obnoxious snoring.
She did not have the patience for this, not in this heat.
~...~
One Lucy Kick later, her apartment was successfully eradicated of One fire dragon slayer, along with One blue talking cat, who was found on the floor near the bed and promptly dropped out the window, she was finally rid of the walking furnace and could finally relax, if only for the short amount of time she had before she was expected at the Guild.
She frowned in disgust at the sweat ring around her middle, right where a pair of arms had been previously, and made the ultimately wise decision to take a shower.
By the time Lucy finally got to the doors of the Guild Hall, the heat had already made her sweat through her clothes and her wet hair was beginning to stick uncomfortably to her shirt. When she walked in through the doors, instinctively dodging an inevitable mass of chairs, tables, other guild members and a certain someone's boxers, she was fortunately greeted by nice and cool air, courtesy of Gray, who had erected pillars of ice around the room, and Juvia, who used her magic to shave off cold bits from them and scatter them into the air.
She breathed a sigh of relief, inhaling the cool, refreshing air until someone yelled at her to just walk in and close the door already so as not to let the cold air out.
The cause of the earlier commotion turned out to be a very aggressive arm wrestling contest in the middle of the hall, and Lucy stuck to the sides of the room, not wanting to be dragged into literal hell.
At least, that was the plan until a very menacing presence appeared behind her and dragged her by the arm and sat her down at a table extremely close to the fighting. Levy gave her a grin as she sat down opposite of her, but Lucy could detect pure bloodlust emanating from her person as she finally deigned to speak.
"So...Lu-chan… I hear you got back from your mission yesterday. Yesterday. Why didn't you at least tell me you were back? I have so many headcanons and fic ideas for that one book we read last month!"
Lucy sweatdropped slightly at her best friend's terrifying aura, which, at the moment, could even make the likes of Erza or Mirajane think twice about crossing her. "A-ah, we got back really late, actually, and I pretty much collapsed in bed after I got home and I forgot to send you a MBird to tell you I'm back. We may or may not have gotten stuck in the Exceed's forest, which they'd enchanted to make sure people couldn't find them."
Levy hummed thoughtfully. "I'll have to ask Pantherlily to introduce me to some of the Exceeds at some point; whatever enchantment they used must have been pretty strong. But anyways, aside from being exhausted from your mission, you seem to have some other things on your mind. Care to share?"
Lucy blinked. How could people read her so easily? "Well," she started, "It's not really a big issue or anything, but I guess you can say I keep having dreams that make me feel… wary? As if something is going to happen soon?"
The shorter girl cocked her head questioningly. "Is it perhaps similar to how Carla predicts future events? I asked her how her visions show themselves once out of curiosity, and she claimed they always began with a sense of foreboding."
"Hm, I can see how they seem similar, but I guess with me it doesn't feel like something bad will necessarily happen, just that something big will happen and we will have to deal with it as best as we can, even if that thing isn't a bad thing. I'll let you know if anything changes, or if I finally remember things from these dreams, okay? But for now, are you up for some watermelon smoothies that I see our dearest Mirajane preparing over at the bar?" Lucy asked, trying to steer the conversation away.
Levy clearly noticed her sudden change in topic, but allowed it to slide. "Okay! Mirajane always makes a mean smoothie, and I haven't had one since that one time Gajeel but iron bolts into mine, claiming that I 'needed the iron'. While I appreciate the sentiment, that dummy should realize normal people can't just straight-up consume pieces of metal." she huffed.
Lucy giggled at that, before asking Mirajane for the smoothies, prompting her to initiate a conversation about their friends outside of Fairy Tail.
While she had fun conversing with her friends, the wary feeling never left her, and she found herself unable to relax once more.
A/N: Hello! I am back from my hiatus! Man, I've really changed a lot from the original fic…. Ha ha….
I doubt anybody still reads my stories due to my long absence, but thank you so much to those who took the time to read through this steaming pile of junk.
Earlier in the fic I mentioned something called an MBird, which stands for Magical Messenger Bird. It's a personal headcanon of mine that everybody, not just wizards, can do some basic magic, since at the beginning of the series they say that people choose to be wizards with indicates that while some people are initially born with some form of specialized magic, everyone has the ability to learn magic and apply it to their daily lives. Hence, the Magical Messenger Bird, a recorded message made of magic that flies itself to the intended receiver.
