A/N: This story is set in Topsy's teen years. His dad is still an ass to him.

It was years later and Topsy and his sisters were now teenagers. Topsy has just been informed that he was doing a leadership test for when he would one day lead a herd. It was only a test for males.

"Okay Topsy; here's the deal, you pass this test and I promise not to be an ass to you anymore," Tyrone stated.

"I think you had your head in the dung heap for too long Dad; you're so full of shit; once an ass, always an ass," Topsy remarked.

"THERESA! GET THAT LAZY ASS OF YOURS OVER HERE SO I CAN TELL YOU WHAT YOUR SON HAS BEEN SAYING TO ME!" Tyrone roared at the top of his lungs.

The older female threehorn rushed over to her husband and son. She wondered what Tyrone was roaring about.

"Jeez Tyrone; I swear you woke up the dead with your loud voice," Theresa sneered.

Topsy chuckled at his mom's remark.

"SHUT THE HELL UP YOU UNGRATEFUL ASSHOLE!" Tyrone screamed.

"Takes one to know one," Topsy retorted.

The look on Tyrone's face at that retort made Theresa chuckle.

"He's got a point, dear; you are an ungrateful asshole; for the last 7 years, you've been mean to Topsy since his brother died," Theresa claimed.

The older threehorn male stomped his foot into the ground. He was furious that Theresa wasn't taking his side in his and Topsy's argument.

"Mark my words Topsy; you fail the test; you disgrace the male threehorn race," Tyrone snarled.

Topsy gulped. He was nervous enough without his dad's hurtful comments. The thought of failing and disgracing an entire male species made his stomach hurt. He ran off to have some time alone.

"Way to go; now you've made him a nervous wreck because of your hurtful comments," Theresa stated.

Tyrone and Theresa went their separate ways. Theresa went to find Topsy and talk to him. He was at the watering hole where his beother died.

"If only you were here to take the test in my place, bro; Dad always liked you better than me," Topsy said.

Theresa showed up just in time to hear Topsy trying to talk to his dead brother.

"Rough day, dear?" Theresa asked.

"Yeah; what if I fail the test?" Topsy asked.

"You won't fail; after all; you put your life at risk trying to save your brother when you were a child; even if you couldn't swim; if that's not courage, I don't know what is," Theresa replied.

Topsy smiled and nuzzled his mom. He knew that he could always count on her.

"I appreciate this Mom; but, that doesn't help the fact that my stomach is in knots," Topsy admitted.

"I understand; just think of me while doing the test and that I'll always love you no matter what happens," Theresa claimed.

Topsy smiled.

After getting some encouragement from his mom, Topsy managed to do his leadership test and passed. However, he was right about his dad being an ass and would never change.
