Hey, it is I, haven't whispered a word since 2016, Jesus. I always felt guilty about leaving this story, so I recently thought you should all know why I have abstained from writing all this time and wrote this. I had a couple of reasons:
1. Lack of playing TF2. Due to the game suddenly turning into a potato a long time ago, crashing often and being on less than 30 FPS I'm lowest settings, I was forced to stop playing as it was unbearable. I don't know what caused the sudden potatation, maybe the new updates were just too much for my average comp. I've tried playing again recently and it runs a little better, but I've moved on to other games (although I still enjoy playing it).
2. Lack of reading PJ. And lack of reading in general. I used to be a huge bookworm, but nowadays I'm more focused on reading stuff on my phone or computer, and even then I almost don't read actual stories. I planned on re-reading the entire HoO series in English instead of Hebrew, but I've just haven't gotten to it.
3. Lack of reviews. Believe me, I am joyful to see Follows and Favorites from my tiny fanbase, but I've only gotten 9 reviews so far. I would love to hear your opinions, ideas, criticism, etc on the story.
4. The story is just too hard to continue. I was not creative when I started it, so I just thought about following the original story of PJ with the added charm and hilarity of the mercs. Soon I found out though, 9 professional, trained, battle hardened warriors, each with their own unique skills, with advanced weapons and high technology make solving every conflict in the story very easy. It's tough to think of ways they don't just steamroll through all opposition. In addition, its difficult to organize all of them. 9 people with different personalities, it's complicated to fit them all in the story, both physically and mentally. Can you believe that I actually thought I would write out all the PJ series? Oh young and ambitious me.
5. I also don't 100% like how the story works out. So many errors and plot holes and what not. I cringe reading my Author's Notes too. It looks so stupid. You know I'm even thinking about making an "Everything Wrong With My Fanfiction" chapter or separate "story" just to point out all the mistakes.
Now let's get out of the way the first three reasons. They're defiantly were problems, but not as bad as the last two. Know why? Because I actually want to continue writing. I enjoyed writing this story when I did and I still get nostalgic re-reading it. Granted, the first two only came in to major effect during the last 2 chapters, but the third always existed. So what do we do now? I don't know if I'll continue this story. I'm thinking about re-writing it with any of these changes:
1. Write with the entire team or three members of the team, but this time with only medieval mode weapons.
2. Write with only one member of the team, either with normal or medieval weapons.
3. Write with SAXTON HALE! He would still be overpowered, yes, but it would be incredibly fun and ridicules (not that the regular mercs aren't, he just as his own charm, y'know?)
Now, I can maybe actually continue the story by how it is, but it would mean I might have to conjure plot bullshit so the story won't be boring with how powerful the mercs are in the PJ universe (especially how Mary Sue I personally made them). I don't know how much you'd enjoy it, but it's an option if you don't want a "new" story.
In addition, I'm also conflicted if I should start with The Lightning Thief or any of the other Percy Jackson and Olympians books. And then I got conflicted if I should even start in any of the Heroes Of Olympus, Kane Chronicles or Magnus Chase books (Although KC and MC fanfics are pretty low, so I would barely get any attraction there).
As for why I don't try to write an independent crossover… Well, first I got no creativity for an actual story which is why I chose to follow the original Lightning Thief. Second, it would probably be filled with clichés, plot holes, errors and what not.
I'm still thinking about what to do, and if there's any of you who still care (probably not, but worth trying), you can advise, suggest or question me anything in your reviews (or PMs, if you feel like it).
Thanks, and have fun.
