Without thinking of how much time it could take to search the entire digital world for her, without realizing how dangerous or foolish it is to go there without solid confirmation of this being her location, he ventured into the world he once knew like the back of his hand. He stumbled in upon entrance. Entering and exiting this world was never a simple or sound task anyway. His first thought was to find his lifelong partner Tentomon. This wasn't a particularly difficult task, the bug-like digital monster had a tendency of finding Izzy without call.
"Izzy! What are you doing here?" Tentomon exclaimed curiously, having no clue as to what happened before his friend's sudden entry.
"Mimi is running away from something she doesn't need to run away from. I need to find her as soon as possible and this place was the only place I could imagine her being." Izzy explained seamlessly, checking his email before setting off in some random direction. Tentomon flew by his side, asking a million questions a minute without response. Finally, after random stops to check his email or review their location, they rested for more than a few minutes.
"Izzy, really, what are you doing? As far as I know, Mimi hasn't come to the digital world. What is she running from?"
He sighed, leaning back and looking up to the sky, "She's running from me. The other day she told me she loved me. I didn't understand what it was like to love another person romantically and froze up. I told her loving someone takes time, but we've been through years of friendship. Months of dating. I have had more than enough time to realize I love her romantically yet I couldn't realize it in the heat of the moment. Of all times to be an idiot, I chose the worst possible moment."
"Don't be too hard on yourself. I don't really get this whole 'romance' humans experience, but it seems rather important."
Izzy chuckled slightly, "I didn't understand it either until someone loved me like that."
Mimi had found herself pouting with Palmon under the sun, saying nothing relating to her feelings the entire time she was there. She updated her partner on school, the group, but failed to update Palmon on her relationship with Izzy. While the plant-like friend had some knowledge of her romance, she wasn't particularly aware that Mimi had come to escape him, to escape the thoughts of her relationship falling apart because of three words the boy didn't understand.
After sighing, Mimi couldn't keep quiet any longer. She looked to her partner who was only smiling and couldn't help but smile too. Palmon noticed immediately, "Why're you smiling?"
"Because I have a wonderful partner like you," Mimi began, "I need to tell you some things."
"Oh! What's up?" Palmon asked curiously. Mimi updated her on everything. From their dates all the way to her confession of love. She wanted to cry but felt it would make her partner uncomfortable if she had, if not make the partner cry as well. Palmon, with a minuscule understanding of love past that of family and friends, replied, "How can he not love you! You're cute, funny, stylish, smart, you're the best! Everyone loves you!"
This made Mimi giggle finally, "Oh Palmon, this love is different. This is the type of love that isn't easy to own up to. The kind that, hopefully, establishes a long-term future with that person. It's hard to fall in love sometimes, but Izzy made it so easy. He cares for me a lot. I can't believe that I could have ruined it all because I fell in love too quickly. He was right, loving someone takes time. I feel shot down."
"Mimi, I don't think you fell in love too quickly. I may not have been there the whole time, or even most of the time, but you two have been friends for a very long time. Surely that may have had a play in your love for him."
"I don't know. Maybe it's time for me to go home. I shouldn't disappear on him like this. It isn't fair." She sighed once again.
"You should stay for however long you need to. It's your life. Izzy is very understanding, I'm sure he'll forgive you."
About two nights had passed when Izzy finally came across Mimi. Seeing as she had been ignoring her, he wasn't sure if she'd even talk to him. Then, he recalled something she had said. He quickly wrote on a piece of paper, "How long have you been out here?" He gave it to Tentomon to deliver it to her.
Mimi was surprised when Tentomon appeared, note in hand. After reading it, she looked around to see Izzy in the distance. She yelled, "Why did you write a note?"
He called back, "You said that if you can't talk to me, we'll have to write notes. Since you wouldn't talk to me for a few days, I figured a note would work."
He hurried over to her, panting ever so slightly upon getting to her. She furrowed her brows, "You came all the way out here to find me?"
He looked to her, straightening his back as he completely forgot the speech he had planned out for this very moment, "Uh… You see...well. I said loving someone takes time when you told me you love me. I realized that I only said that because I was afraid to confirm my own feelings. I have known you since we were kids. I don't know when it occurred or what, but, I love you too. I feel very...dumb for not recognizing that when you told me. I was just-" He was cut off by Mimi kissing him. Palmon and Tentomon gasped, quickly looking away. Izzy kissed her back, confused but relieved.
When she pulled away, she answered all the questions he had running through his head, "You were talking too much. I'm just glad you love me too." She hugged him, starting to cry as all her pent-up stress was expelled through his speech and that kiss.
They returned home shortly after that. Their friends were glad they came back safely, almost prepared to enter that world on their own.
Their relationship only grew stronger as time progressed. Eventually, they were no longer the couple teased by the other digidestined as more began pairing off. TK and Kari got a lot of comments, but neither of them were even bothered by it, both too busy looking at one another.
As time passed and they all discovered what they wanted to do with their lives, it was all aligning well. When the digital world was starting to fuse with the real world, they all faced some trouble, but ultimately it was something they are happy they had the opportunity to help forge. To bring together two worlds that support one another. It was the beginning of a wonderful future.
A/N: It has been a long two and a half years, but I think I have finished this fanfic. My first fanfic and what could possibly be my last depending on how my life goes. Since the last chapter, I have finished my first semester of college. Before writing this I actually sat and read my previous chapters which were riddled with little errors that I may never actually fix... Overall though, I am happy to have made a decision to write this out and post it on here for others to see and enjoy. I don't know why it has taken me this long to finish this story, but it has finally happened. Thanks for the reviews and thanks for reading! This may not be the ideal ending to some but this is just how I imagined this ending when I wrote the first chapter. That being said, thank you once more and I hope you enjoyed it!
