Oh my God! I said to myself as I looked up at my apartment from the parking lot. All the lights were on. Did I not turn them off? Obviously it was one of possibly three scenarios. Morelli still had a key, although we'd been off for several months and I was planning to ask for it back. Ranger had a way with locks, so it wouldn't be much of a shock to find him perched in my living room. Or I'd picked up a new creep. I was betting on a new creep or Ranger as I approached my door, gun in hand.

Oh my God! I said to myself again, turning the locks as quietly as possible and opening the door. It was none of the above. Standing in my kitchen, stirring something on my stove was my grandmother.

"How come you only got one pot?" she said without turning around. "How do you expect me to make a decent meal with only one pot?"

"How did you get in here?" I answered her question with one of my own.

"That nice super of yours let me in. He recognized me from the last time I stayed here."

"But what are you doing here?"

"Your father and I had a fight and I thought it best to get out of the house for a while. You know how touchy he is about his bathroom, well I showed him. I stayed in there for a full hour and a half taking a leisurely bath."

Oh my God. This could turn ugly and I only had one bathroom, too. I wasn't exactly sure what to do but instinct told me to call Ranger. Maybe he had a safe house or somewhere to put grandma until I patched things up with my dad for her. I picked up my phone, went to 'B' for Batman and placed a call.

"I may have to cancel our date for tonight," I said, knowing we didn't have one and Ranger would pick up on that.

"Babe, are you in trouble?"

"I have an unexpected guest..."

"...that you need help getting rid of? I'll be right over."

He disconnected without letting me finish the rest of the story. Now I was going to be in deep shit. Oh my God.
