Later…

Kaedan POV

The sun was still very new in the sky as I wandered the training grounds, looking for my padawan. When I didn't find him in the dormitory or in the mess hall, I knew exactly where to look next. The previous night he had been trying to figure out the best way to disarm and disable a droid using only the Force and his training saber. I had to convince him to give up and try again in the morning and I was willing to bet good credits that the droid field was exactly where I would find him now.

I was not disappointed.

"How long have you been up?" I asked.

He shrugged. "An hour or so. I've almost got it."

I chuckled as he turned his back to me and continued. He was determined. What I liked most was that the young man wasn't frustrated or angry at all. All I could sense from him was determination. His constant determination and patience was one of the reasons I had taken him as my padawan. These were traits he had learned before arriving on Tython.

"Keep at it, Thrane. You'll figure it out." I encouraged, then turned to return to the temple.

I took one last look at him before entering the temple. His mother had been training him independently for years before he decided he wanted to train to be a Jedi. He had only been training on Tython for a few months and was already shaping up to be a powerful Jedi, regardless of the late start to his formal training.

I hadn't always agreed with Zanthia's actions since leaving the order, but I had to admit, she did have a talent for teaching the ways of the Force. She had shown her son patience, determination and compassion, as well as instilling a sense of value to peace and calm thinking. All the values important to a Jedi.

"You'll be an amazing Jedi, Thrane, just like your mother." I said quietly.
