Thinking back to the tender look in his eyes I prayed to the gods Sebastian would never become tainted. I could never purify him if that was the case, I care too much for him. Clearing my head, I slipped away dreaming of the Mischievous acts Ciel and I could cause together...

Black Miko Chapter 14: The Difference

Two weeks later

I woke up and decided to get some research done in the library today. Anything I could find would be helpful in figuring out what Midori was talking about. I search through the rows of books but only found the same books for before, which provided no new information. I'll have to go somewhere else if I want answers, the question is where? I doubt there's any stores on demon mythology around here. Sebastian might know somewhere I could look, but I'd have to explain why I need to find one. I could say I'm interested in how western demons are depicted. I decided stop searching the library and go over the information I've gathered so far.

Tainted Demons? I know that demon auras can be corrupted, the shikon jewel did that on several occasions. Not all demons get tainted though, Sesshomaru was evidence of that. So powerful demons can withstand the evil demonic power, while lesser demons are easily influenced. The shikon jewel was destroyed, so there's no way it could make Sebastian's aura corrupt. Even then, his aura might not be corrupted since he is very powerful, though I'm not sure to what extent. He could be just as powerful as Sesshomaru. And then there's the fact he's a western demon, they have similar traits but are very different to the demons I'm used to. Sebastian has called himself a devil before, and his aura has a dark feeling to it but its not the same as a demon who's been tainted by the jewel.

His aura's not evil like Naraku or corrupt like a tainted demon. He's powerful like Sesshomaru. When he saved Ciel and I the other day, he reminded me of Inuyasha when he loses control to his demon side. How his eyes turned fuchsia and his features became more demonic, but he seemed fully in control. I guess the first thing is to figure out the difference between a full demon and a devil. I know a lot thanks to Inuyasha and Sango, but I know next to nothing on devils. Looking at the time I see I've missed breakfast and its nearing lunch. I should go check on Ciel and see what's going on. I leave the library and make my way to Ciel's study.

I see Sebastian in the hall carrying a stack of letters. "Good afternoon Sebastian." I say smiling to him. "Good afternoon Lady Kagome, where were you this morning?" he asked walking beside me. "I was trying to get some research done in the library but hit a dead end" I told him. "What kind of research, I might be able to assist." He asked. "Well I was wonder the difference between a devil and a full demon?" I asked looking at his face for a reaction. He looked surprised for a split second but quickly covered it with a smirk. "Well I believe I could be of assistance to you in that regard, Kagome" he replied with a wink. I could feel my cheeks flushing but I refused to give him the satisfaction of looking away. "I doubt there are any books I could read to understand." I said.

He looked thoughtful for a few seconds. "I do know everything there is to on devils, but only limited on full demons. There might be someone who could provide you with more information than me. Though they can be…... distasteful at times" He said scolding softly. "Hmm I would like to talk to them if possible, but I'd appreciate anything you could tell me." I said. "As long as I can accompany you, I think it should be fine." He said stopping in front of the study door. He turned to face me fully and leaned down slightly toward me. "Lady Kagome, I will help you in any way that I can, but you may like some of the answers you find." He said. I could sense he was worried about something, what I have no idea. Was it something about him, he thinks I would find horrifying and run away?

I looked into his eyes; they were quite serious but seemed to be trying to tell me something. Reaching my right hand out I gently touched his face and smile up to him. "There's nothing that I wouldn't like to know about you Sebastian, I don't frighten that easily". He looked as thought he was about to correct me; I drop my hand touching his check and quickly placed my other hand over his mouth. "Nothing you say will change my mind on this, I want to learn more about you and your world. No matter what I find, it won't change my feelings for you." I say. I lean forward to place a kiss on the back of my hand covering his mouth. If I where to move my hand I would be kissing him directly.

Pulling back I see his eyes looked slightly alarmed, and I'm sure my face is a blazed. He reaches his left and up and holds my hand in between us gently. "Lady Kagome… perhaps it would be best to discuss this at a later time." He says breaking my gaze and releasing my hand. I could feel humiliation and hurt creeping up on me but shook it off. He's not rejecting me; he just wants to talk about it later. "Yes, that be for the best" I say smiling up at him. He nods and turns to know on the door. I hear Ciel tell us to come in and Sebastian hold the door open for me.

'Good Afternoon Ciel" I said talking a sit in front of his desk. He was doing some paperwork. "Good afternoon, Kagome." He said greeting me with a slight smile. He then turned to look at what Sebastian had place on his desk. "Young Master, these are the letters that we received today." He pulled of the ties and gathered a few to hand to Ciel. "It's the social season again. These people really have nothing to do. They spend the whole day hosting meaning less balls, courting and dancing…... London's lifestyle is so dull." He said. He started going through the letters seeing who sent them then promptly rejecting them. He stopped looking down at a letter with a red seal on the back. "What is it?" I asked. "It seems I have received an invitation by my aunt, the baroness Angelina Durless-Burnett, also known as Madame Red." He said placing the rest of the letters in the trash. "Sebastian prepare my bags and the carriage; we will leave after supper." He said reading through the letter. "Yes, my lord." Said Sebastian leaving the room.

"Kagome would you like to accompany us?" he asked looking at me. "That be a bit hard given I'm supposed to protect the manor, Ciel." I said. "I said that meaning for when you are here, my servants are quite capable of defending this manor but sometimes they go a bit… overboard. I'll most likely need your assistance in London" he explained. "I see, what's happening in London that would require my assistance?" I ask. "There has been a series of murders where the victims have all been prostitutes. The Queen has gotten worried because it is quite abnormal, so I must go investigate and put her worries to an end. From what I can tell, you don't seem bothered by gore and are a quick thinker, it would only benefit to have you along." He said. "I will do my best to help you then, Ciel." I said. "Have Mey-rin help you pack and bring your bags to the carriage." He said. I nodded and made my way out the study and on my way to find Mey-rin.

I found her in the laundry hanging up some sheets. "Hey Mey-rin could you help me pack some clothes? Ciel invited me with him on his trip to London." I asked. She finished folding and turned toward me. "Leave it to me, Kagome. I'll have you dressed to impress!" She said smiling. We walked down the corridors making are way to my room. As we turned the last corner to my room, we paused seeing Sebastian Outside my door. "Mey-rin you can go finish the laundry; I will help Lady Kagome with her packing." He said. Mey-rin nodded and turned to leave. Sebastian held the door for me as I made my way inside, shutting it behind him.

I guess this would be the time we discuss what happened earlier. Sebastian made his way to the closet and pulled out a large and smaller suitcase. He then started looking through my wardrobe deciding with dresses to pack. He picked out three dresses, two night gowns, a shirt, some pants and three different shoes. "Everything else you might need will be at the London manor." He said packing away the clothes. Once he was done, he sent the suitcases by the door and joined me in the lounge. We sat on the couch, in an awkward silence, I could feel his glaze on me, I decided to speak first.

"Sebastian about earlier… I meant what I said. Any new information I find out about you won't change how I feel.?" I said looking up at him. His eyes had the same serious look as before, but it wasn't frightening, more of a firm gentle glaze. "And what exactly are your feeling toward me, Kagome? "he asked me, reaching out and grabbing my hand. I could hear my heart pounding in my ears. If I tell him I'm I like him, he'd think of me a fool, but I can't bring myself to lie to him. Taking a second to breath, I told him exactly how I felt. "I like you Sebastian…..." I said. His eyes showed his surprise and I could blame him, I was as well. I knew I liked him, but that didn't mean he felt the same. I could see him think of what to say next.

"How…could someone so pure and full of life like me, a devil damned to hell?" he asked. I wasn't sure if the question was directed to me or not, but it didn't matter because the next thing I knew he pulled me in his arms. I was basically sitting in his lap; he had his right arm around my waist and his left cupping my chin. His ruby eyes were staring so intensely into mine I wanted to look away. "Kagome, we are very different. I am a devil who devours souls of those he is contracted to and you are a spiritual gifted human meant to purify things like me. We were never meant to be friends much less..." he trailed breaking our eye contact for the first time. Before I could think I grabbed his face and forced his eyes back onto me. "I could careless! I t doesn't matter what we were born as, it matters who we are and how we feel! I know that what I feel for you is real, and Id be damned if I let you or anyone else try and stop me because of what we are." I shouted at him.

The next thing I knew his lips were on mine kissing me passionately. I couldn't help but kiss back nearly just as fierce. My hands moving from his face into his hair trying to bring him as close as possible. After what seemed like not nearly long enough, he pulled back letting me breath. "As fierce as ever, my little Miko." he said with a smirk. I looked down feeling more blood rushing to my face, and was about to huff at him a bit, but as I looked at his face, I stopped dead in my tracks. He had a smile one his face, not a smirk, but a genuine beautiful smile that made my heart flutter. Looking down at me he came closes I could feel his forehead against mine. Then he whispered so softly to me I almost didn't hear it. "I like you as well Kagome…"
