Literally I write all of my stories in present tense now because that's what you do for screenplays, so I kept messing up but hey that's what you do when you let a story sit for THREE YEARS anyway it has finally come to a close, no more updates for you. I'm now on ao3 under the same name it's a way better site no offense

Pearl sat with Steven, all the other gems around them. Ruby and Sapphire fused again, and Garnet clasped her hands together. Peridot sat next to the couch, Citrine's gem resting in her lap. The Doctor sat next to Clara, her eyes trained on Pearl. Pearl would sing out several words, and Steven would repeat them.

It was two minutes into the lesson that Citrine's gem glowed and began to form. Pearl looked up, tears beginning to form in her eyes again, as a short, pale orange gem appeared, a square four-faceted gem in her stomach. She took a moment to open her eyes, at which point Pearl rushed forward.

"Citrine-" she said, and Citrine swept her up in her arms.

"Pearl! You look positively dangerous. Garnet- loving the new outfit. Where's Rose Quartz?"

Steven raised his hand. The entire room shifted toward him as he swallowed nervously with the weight of what he had to say. "She's gone. I have her gem."

Citrine nodded grimly. "What happened to Turquoise?"

"She's gone,"Garnet said. "I'm so diamonds came, they corrupted everyone."

"Can we fix it?" Citrine asked.

"We're working on it," Garnet said, looking at Steven. Steven took a deep breath.

Right as Pearl began to sing, Lapis wandered out into the open. Peridot motioned for her to sit. She slumped against the couch, watching Steven.

Finally, Pearl stopped. "Can you remember that?" she said. Steven nodded with determination.

His voice started off quiet, but by the end, he sang as loudly as he could. He stopped at the end, staring at Amethyst's gem apprehensively.

"It's okay, Steven," Pearl said gently. "You did your best. We'll try again later."

Amethyst's gem glowed.

"Amethyst?" Steven said nervously. Garnet jumped to her feet, poised to strike if need be.

There was no need. Amethyst came out perfect- every limb intact, no extra hair. "I'm sorry," she said, her voice cracking, and Pearl pulled her tightly into an embrace, hiding her face in her hair.

There was a long stretch of silence. Lapis stood up again, wandering outside to stare out over the open sea. Citrine followed her, the loss of all her friends only just beginning to hit her.

"Are you going to be alright?" Pearl asked Garnet, letting Amethyst crawl into her lap and holding her firmly.

"Yes," Garnet said. "I am a conversation. I just had to remember how to be that."

"Whatever happens next, we can face it together," the Doctor said, turning her head to look at Clara. Clara grinned.

"I'm not scared," Clara said.

"You should be," the Doctor said.

"Maybe not," Garnet said lightly, reaching over to stroke Amethyst's hair. "Not if we really face it together."

Steven's eyes went wide, and he stood up, causing everyone to look up at him. "I need to find Centipeedle," he said. "I made a promise."

In case you couldn't guess, Steven uses his diamond powers to sing all the corrupted gems back into their normal forms and they all face Homeworld and the Daleks together. The end!
