"I am not kidding!" Korra rolled her eyes and looked back over shoulder. She blushed slightly when he saw her staring. He slightly smiled. She quickly whirled around and rounded the corner out of the apartment building. The bright sun slightly blinded her. "I am not going to ask him out."
She wove through the crowded sidewalk. She ran her tongue over her teeth and shook her head. What did Asami know? "Yes, he has a brother, but no, I am not going to hook us up with a double date."
Korra stopped at her favorite coffee shop and gestured towards the barista. She mouthed, "Normal," and put her money on the counter. She listened as Asami rambled on about Korra's drought of dates.
She took a sip of the coffee and flinched from the pain. She futility blew gently into the cup. It should be cool enough by the time she got to her work. She cursed as she realized she left her work badge at home. She was going to be late, again.
"Hey Asami, I did it again. I'll call you after my shift."
Korra recapped her coffee and darted back to her apartment. She panted as she topped the last set of steps of the third floor and smashed into someone. Her coffee sloshed and fell from her hands. The burning, dark liquid covered her new neighbor. He gasped from the startle and pain.
"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry," Korra cried, her face was crimson.
"I'll heal," Mako mumbled as he removed the drenched garment.
Korra's mouth gaped slightly open at his chiseled six-pack. She quickly recovered, and gushed out, "I'll pay for your shirt. I'll wash it for you. You can have one of mine… oh wait, um that won't work. Um, I can buy you a new one?"
Mako's eyebrow's darted in confusion and then he nervously smiled, "It's okay. I'll get it washed."
"Again, I'm so sorry." Korra looked around helplessly. "How about dinner? On me? I mean, not on me, but I'll buy?"
Mako gave her a quizzical look and shifted slightly. He extended his hand, and said, "I'm Mako. Welcome to the building."
Korra looked confused, but shook his hand, and said, "Um, thanks. I'm Korra."
"How about seven?"
Korra gave him a crocked grin, and nodded, "Seven."
She turned and started down the steps.
"Were you going to get something from your apartment?"
Korra closed her eyes mortified, but gave another grin and dashed down to her apartment.
Mako smiled and shook his head as he entered his own apartment.
"Dude?" Bolin said as she saw his brother was half-naked.
"Neighbor spilled coffee on."
"The cute girl in 3B?"
"Yea."
"Isn't she a…"
"A little weird? Yep, she is always sweet and cute."
"You finally get a date?"
"Dinner at seven."
"You finally asked her out?" Bolin howled incredulously jumping up from his chair and rattling the table.
Mako's face flushed and he looked away. Finally, he turned around with sly smile and said, "Nope, she asked me."
