AN: Alright everyone, welcome to chapter two. For those who put their opinions on the deck suggestion in 'Death's Gravekeeper', I'm torn between an unthemed deck (currently with Burstinatrix as the pairing) or spellcasters with the pairing as Dark Magician girl. The reviews from this chapter will be the one to determine who is used. So tell me which option you'd prefer. Dark magician girl with spellcaster deck (include who you want as the boss monster or monsters) or an un-themed deck (tell me burstrinatrix or what other option you wish as well as boss monster or monsters) and more importantly why.

AN2: I'm torn on who should be Jaden's close friends in this story. I like Syrus well enough but he never really grabbed my attention. So! I want your ideas for who should be Jaden's close friend group in this fic. I have some ideas but I'm curious if you all have any suggestions I just hadn't thought of. Currently I'm thinking of trying to utilize Chazz and make him less of a high school bully.

The King of Fiends

Chapter 2

-Jaden-

"That was a splendid duel Jaden." Pegasus smiled as they sat at a small café near the testing arena, "I'm glad to see you and the wicked gods working so well together still."

"Thanks grandfather." Jaden smiled as he sipped his drink, "Although I hardly even think it counts as a duel. My opponent was rather pathetic. I'm honestly starting to question going here if that is an example of the kind of faculty employed by the top campus of Duel Academy."

"Now Jaden, you need to at least give it a chance." Pegasus smiled but Jaden could tell the old card creator was amused, "This will help your career and you know it."

"If I can beat one of their top faculty without breaking a sweat, I don't see how." Jaden frowned, "I'd likely do better just entering street tournaments."

"Jaden," Pegasus sighed, "I'm going to be honest with you. I wanted you to go to Duel Academy for more reasons than just your career, although that part was a real factor. Central Duel Academy was created by myself and Seto Kaiba as a joint endeavor to keep a different set of god cards contained."

"Another set?" Jaden blinked surprised as he took a bite of his lunch, feeling the attention of the Wicked gods from his deck on the conversation.

"They're known as the Sacred Beasts." Pegasus took a sip of tea, "And their power is comparable to your wicked gods or the three Egyptian god cards. More than that though, their energy is…well corrupted, malevolent. Just having them out can actually drain the essence from duel spirits to the point it will even erase the cards themselves. Even further there is a fusion of the three sacred beasts that went missing."

"Fuck." Jaden groaned, running a hand down his face, "And you want me at the academy because of this?"

"There's been a shifting in the world Jaden." His grandfather nodded, "I may not have the Millenium Eye anymore, but I am still sensitive to Shadow Magics. They're growing in the world so I know something big is coming. You not only have the Wicked gods but you have Yubel."

"You boys talking about me?" looking up, Jaden smiled at Yubel walking over from the bathroom in her human form, a trick they had found she could use by leeching off his shadow magic. The form was one she had intentionally crafted to resemble a Mai Valentine but with Yubel's heterochromatic eyes and the hair being the silvery gray that half of her head ported in her spirit form.

"Grandfather was telling me why he wanted me to go to Duel Academy." Jaden told her seriously as his closest friend sat down with them and kicked her feet up on Jaden's lap.

"To laugh at you being bored?" Yubel asked, raising an eyebrow as she took a gulp from her drink.

"There are more god cards hidden on the island he's afraid of." Jaden told her blandly as Yubel began to choke on her drink.

"Which ones?" Yubel coughed as she set her drink down.

"Sacred Beasts." Pegasus summed up for her, "Jaden isn't just a talented Duelist but he has a strong grasp on the shadow magics. Combine that with having you and the Wicked gods nearby to help him then I think Jaden is the best bet at being able to keep the Sacred Beasts contained or being able to help stop them should they get out, perhaps even finding the source of their corruption."

"So we're stuck going to Central." Yubel sighed, "You owe us old man."

"I'm aware." Pegasus laughed, "Perhaps if you two hate duel academy so much I'll let you turn Duelist Kingdom into your own duel school."

"Can you get things cleared so Yubel can be at the academy in her human form when she wants?" Jaden asked.

"Of course." Pegasus nodded, "Kaiba Boy is already aware I'm sending you to the academy as a precaution and has agreed to let her enter the school as a student studying to become a card designer."

"I'll take what I can get." Yubel sighed, "What about the dorms?"

"You'll be placed with Jaden." Pegasus promised, "I'm sure after that duel you'll get in Ra Yellow if not being placed straight into Obelisk Blue."

"Let's hope so." Jaden groaned, "I've heard about the Slifer Red dorms, and the food." He gave a shudder at the thought, glad he had given a good showing at the tests.

Pegasus let out a deep belly laugh, "That would be ridiculous." His grandfather wiped away a mirthful tear, "Placing one of the Kings of Duel Monsters in the lowest ranked dorm?"

"Especially after I got a perfect score on that stupid written test and demolished that professor for my entrance practical.

-Sheppard-

Taking a long drink from his Coffee, Chancellar Sheppard looked over the various test results for this years first year students. "Some familiar names in here." He smiled as he flipped through the files. Syrus Truesdale, younger brother to the top student to ever attend the Academy, Zane Truesdale. The reports surprisingly showed very poor practical and academic scores but his testers note that the young man seems to have confidence issues. "Hopefully he gets over those soon." Sheppard set the file aside, looking forward to see what sort of potential will come out as the young Truesdale grows.

Alexis Rhodes, younger sister to the missing Atticus Rhodes, "I'll have to keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't sneak off to the Abandoned dorm." He frowned, knowing the old building was still dangerous and full of shadow magic. She was the top female student of her year at the Duel Prep school.

Chazz Princeton, the only Duelist of the three Princeton brothers who were all working hard to master their fields in the world. His brothers were considered one of the most influential businessmen in the world as well as a rising politician expected to go far. If Chazz, the top male student of his year right alongside Miss Rhodes, was anywhere near as talented in his chosen field as his brothers then the young man would likely give even Yugi Moto or Seto Kaiba a run for their money in a few years.

"Jaden Yuki?" Sheppard read the unfamiliar name. The young man's test scores were shown as very unimpressive and the young man apparently barely won his duel according to Crowler. "I can see why Crowler recommended the young man for Slifer red." Sheppard nodded as he finished reading the young man's file. Attached to it was a note that the young man had a close friend who was going to be attending the academy to be trained as a card designer, an experiment by Kaiba and Pegasus to have the academy be for teaching more than just professional duelists. "A talented young woman. I hope the young man improves to match his friend, or that he doesn't slow her down." With that, the Chancellor resumed checking on his other first year students.
