Keeping Hiei and Kagome in separate rooms was easy enough, but after a few hours, another problem started to rear its ugly head. Botan couldn't be in the same room as Hiei or Kagome. It triggered electric tremors through her body that caused her to fall unconscious again after she'd only just woken up.
"What a nightmare," Koenma muttered. "...once we devise a method that will wake up Kagome, we can figure out the problem the Jewel has with Hiei and Botan."
"Sadly, that's proving to be more difficult than earlier thought. I wonder though, should our strategy not be the right approach..."
Koenma frowned, turning his eyes from Kagome and to Kurama, "What do you mean?"
"While I think separating Hiei and Botan was the correct action, I don't believe it was the right one with Hiei and Kagome here."
"But Hiei has no energy when he's around her."
"Not entirely true." Kurama glanced pointedly to the door that led to the room where Hiei lay sleeping. "He has no energy either way. Being near her, or far from her, his status hasn't changed any. Whereas Botan's was instantaneous. She woke up after an hour once we moved her to a different room. I think...the Jewel connected with Hiei's Energy...and when Botan made to heal him, the Jewel's energy reacted to it as though it were a threat, it may be protective because he saved the Jewels Guardian, maybe another reason altogether, I don't know. What I am growing more certain of by every passing moment though, no change is being made between both Hiei and this girl. It may not hurt to at least try placing them in the same room."
Koenma sighed, "I see your point...I guess we can move them to the same room, I'll have Ayame keep watch on them and should anything change she'll notify me immediately. Hopefully...everything will be sorted out soon."

Dark swirls of madness gave into the ebb and flow of time. Lost in this destructive energy, Hiei had been searching frantically for a way out. Seductive as the tendrils of power were, he was no weakling Demon, and would never allow himself to give into such a conquest.
"What would you have me do…?"
"..." Hiei turned around, having heard the soft and melodic voice throughout this void of chaos many times, but choosing not to answer.
"Will you not make a wish?"
"..." He glared and turned again, facing every direction possible, but finding no one to whom the voice could potentially belong.
"Speak...your desire...and I shall make it so."
Again, he said nothing, but the pull...oh the pull. How it was tenderly caressing his will. "...tch..." He couldn't move.
"Power..."
He clenched his fists tightly at his side.
"Immortality..."
Closing his eyes to distance himself from the nightmare that was taking place before him.
"Perhaps that's too easy...I can bring back the dead...you could see your mother. You could be a family...you, your mother...your sister."
His eyes snapped open and black flames gathered dangerously around his right arm as his red eyes narrowed with annoyance. "...bring me your Guardian."
"...she is asleep."
"Then wake her."
"...Not yet...she needs more time...a wish has not been made yet...she must sleep."
"Why must a wish be made, who are you!?" Hiei shouted out aggressively.
A glowing orb appeared before him and took the shape of an iridescent woman, "...I am Midoriko...I reside within the Jewel, that lies dormant within Kagome."
Hiei looked at her critically before he glowered, "you didn't answer my first question!"
"...a pure wish must be made, so that a new Guardian may be chosen..." a look of disdain washed over her eyes if only for a single moment before vanishing as quickly as it came.
"...no, I don't buy it. Wake her up, and release me from this comatose prison!"
"...I will not."
"...then I will force my way out!
Midoriko, as she had introduced herself, moved further away from Hiei as the Black flames became more widespread and more fierce in there invasion of her trompe-l'oeil of a dream world. "You...you can't! You'll destroy your psyche and Kagome's!"
He scoffed, "...so be it…"
She shook her head before raising her hands, "ALRIGHT!" Letting a flare of pink energy surround the dreamscape milieu, she vanished and everything became a blur of distortion.
Hiei could still feel the pull of the insidious jewel, but no longer was it all consuming. He felt himself being released from the mind cell, and found himself rejoicing in the bright light of the world of the alert.

Hiei sat up and glared heatedly at his hands that were burning furiously with his dragon of the darkness flames. The woman had done quite the number on him to rile him up so much that he'd sacrifice his body and state of mind if it meant ridding himself of the nuisance she'd proven herself to be. Glancing around, he noted that no one was in the room with him.
"Mm-mmn..."
Soft, a moan feathered through the air and grazed gently against his ear. He turned in shock, lying in his bed, the bed he was in, was a human girl. The Guardian of the damned Shikon Jewel. She was waking...his eyes widened and he placed a hand on her shoulder before giving her a slight shake. "Girl, wake up!"
A fluttering of eyelids revealed oceanic blue eyes that reflected all of the wonders of the world in a single glance. There was love, knowledge, the thirst for adventure, and a hunger and thrill for fighting. She stared curiously into the proud red eyes before her, and silence fell around the room as the two remained lost in orbs of fire and ice.
