"So anyways, like I was saying, before I was rudely interrupted by miss Lucas and her gooey eyes at you..." Regina grumbled as she and Emma strolled down Main Street, hands linked and swinging slightly. Regina had been telling Emma about when she was seven and her mother had decided that it was prime age to start her impressions of being proper and queenly. "So when I didn't show up to my tea time lesson she was so mad." She shuttered at the thought but shrugged and kept going, "she started yelling at me, going on and on about how if I wanted to be queen, I need to be a certain way and do this or that, so I yelled back, because... Well I was seven... And she slapped me, right it the face, and I fell back and she picked me up with her magic and started to tighten the invisible straps around me until I couldn't breathe anmo-" Regina was cut off by Emma abruptly pulling her hand away from hers. Emma looked at her in shock and horror, her mouth hanging open slightly and small tears building in her eyes.

"What? What's wrong?" Regina asked, completely forgetting her earlier sentence, she lifted her hands to cup Emma's cheeks but the girl pulled away again. Regina's face contorted with confusion and hurt.

"Emma? What did I do...?" she asked again, in a slight whisper.

"H..how are you calm about this?" She said quietly, lifting her gaze to meet Regina's eyes. "You just, go on about how your mother abused you and you don't even bat an eye at it! You think that's normal?" Emma said, louder now, almost yelling.

"Well yes... That's how I was raised, she was only trying to teach me what she thought was best. She wanted the best for me and she-" she tried to explain but was cut of by a harsh back handed slap to the face, that sent her tumbling to the ground, unprepared.

She gasped as she laid of the ground griping the side of her face tightly as tears poured from her eyes.

"What!? You hit Henry like that to!? Grow up with your mom hitting you and you hit your kid right! Well not anymore! You're not seeing Henry again, and we are done!" Emma screamed and then turned and walked away swiftly, rage pouring from her fingertips.

Regina watched as Emma stormed away, the tears in her eyes building and falling down her face. That wasn't what she meant, she was going to explain that it wasn't a good way to do it.. She was going to tell her she would never and never had hit Henry, she hardly even yelled at the boy. But now Emma had gone and taking this to a new level. But maybe she was right, maybe she shouldn't be allowed to see Henry, not if she was a threat to him, she would never hurt him, but what if she didn't mean to and it just happened... She shook her head and licked her chapped lips, tasting a slight tang from her split lip, she whimpered slightly before trying to pull herself up. She felt someone place a helpful hand on her back and guide her to standing. Once she had all her bearings straight she turned to see the friendly face of Archie standing behind her, leash and umbrella in one hand and his other still resting on her lower back.

She sighed and looked away from him, wiping as the bit of blood on her lip.

"Thank you..."

"Always Regina." He stated, and looked at her with a questioning gaze, "would you like to explain to me why Emma hit you?" He asked again, sounding slightly angry that she would just take a hit after all they had worked through together. "Does she do that regularly?"

"What? No! Of course not!" Regina exclaimed looking at him like he was quite out of his mind. "Emma has never hit me before!"

"Well that's what I had hoped, but it doesn't not make this time ok.." He explained, gesturing to her split lip.

She brought her hand up to cover it.

"It just... We were... I was... I think she broke up with me..." She stuttered in a whisper.

"And she thought the best way to do that was with a slap that brought you to the floor?" He asked, almost to calmly. "Explain to me what happened Regina, from the beginning" he asked.

"I was telling her about something, about when my mother started to give me lessons, because you had said that I should be more open about my past, so I was telling her and she started yelling at me.. And then she implied that I had done those things to Henry! And she wouldn't even let me explain that I would never hurt him..." She explained to him and suddenly the realization dawned on him, Emma must have thought that Regina condoned such behavior.

"Regina, how did you say it? We're you upset about it? Or calming telling her like we talked about.." He asked in a slightly worried tone, if she had been that way he suggested this might have been all his fault, he never thought that Emma might take it that way, he just wanted to not have Regina freak out when she told her girlfriend.

"Well he's, of course I was calm about it! That's what you said would go over best!" She shouted at him, taking it back right away, "I'm sorry Archie... This isn't your fault... I just... I need to go" she said, and waved her hands up her body and was gone in a pool of purple smoke.

Archie made his way to the charming apartment right after Regina had gone, he wasn't about to go after her right now, she needed time to gather her thoughts, he would handle her after he cleaned up this mess. So he went in search of Emma. He knocked three times before snow answered.

"Archie! What a wonderful surprise, please come in!" The woman spoke with a smile.

He nodded with a grim face and walked into the apartment. "Is Emma here?" He asked, jumping right to the problem.

"No she's out with Regina." Snow said with a forced smile, while she didn't out rightly disapprove of the relationship she never said that she was happy about it.

"No she isn't, I really need to speak with emma." He said, matter of factly.

"Had Regina done something?" Snow asking with a sigh, calling Henry downstairs.

"No, this was very much Emma. But I'm afraid that it all comes back to being my fault."

Henry jumped down the stairs at the same moment, "what's your fault?" He asked, coming to stand with his grandmother.

"I have been working with Regina about her past" he explained, "we talked about her opening up with Emma about the abuse of her mother. So she did, and Emma took her calmness about the situation as an indication that she condones such behavior... She yelled at her and hit her, then stormed off, I believe Emma is under the impression that Regina has done the same to Henry that was done to her as a child" he explained softly to the woman and teen.

"She hasn't! She'd never hurt me!" Henry explained, running to his phone to call Emma.

"Hello?"

"Emma I need to to come home, I really need to talk to you." He said, and Emma picked up on the use of her first name not the term ma.

"Alright, on my way..." She said, regret in her tone.

"We will speak to Emma Archie, you go and talk with Regina..." Snow said, and looked at Henry for agreement. Who nodded.

Archie nodded to and left the apartment in search of the emotional brunette.

When Emma got home she found snow and Henry both sitting on the couch waiting for her.

"What's up..." She asked nervously.

"You hit my mom." Henry said angrily.

"I-" she started but snow stopped her.

"Whatever misunderstanding happened doesn't condone hitting Emma. But we both no that it was a one in a lifetime mistake, so we are going to explain what Regina meant in her admission to you."

"How do you know what we were talking about?" Emma asked, irritated already.

"Archie found mom after the fact. On the ground." Henry stated angry again.

Emma looked away, shame flooding her face.

"Regina was abused as a child, by her mother, and as an adult by my- my father..." Snow said, a knot in her throat already.

"I know." Emma spat.

"What you don't know is that she's been working with Archie on out to explain the situation to you. And he told her it would be best to do it calmly, and you took that the wrong way." Snow explained.

"My mom has never hurt me Emma! She would never do that!" Henry yelled.

"But she-"

"No! You just took what she said and you twisted it up! She doesn't understand that what happened wasn't normal, but that doesn't mean that she would do it to me! She knows that she didn't like it and so why would she ever do it to me!"

Emma's face morphed from anger to

confusion to regret in a short moment.

"Oh god..." She murmured, standing and heading to the door without a word.

Archie had failed at finding Regina, he looked at her house, office, even her family vault. But he couldn't find her anywhere so finally he gave up, little did he know was that she was sitting at the docks on the very bench that she and Emma had started there relationship.

"Hey..." A voice scared her from behind, causing her to jump.

She turned to find Emma standing with her hands shoved into her pockets, shoulders raised and eyes case downward.

"I don't want to talk Emma." Regina stated as she stood and walked closer to the water.

"Regina please... Just... Just listen, for a minute..." Emma pleaded, moving closer but not dating to touch the woman.

"Your times starts now" Regina snapped and waited for the blonde to talk.

"I... Well I'm sorry... I shouldn't have hit you, it was stupid and I swear I'll never do it again! I just... I thought that..." She sighed and turned her head away in shame.

"Times ticking."

"I misunderstood what you were trying to tell me and I over reacted..." Emma murmured.

"No shit" Regina deadpanned.

"Regina I'm sorry! Please let me make it up to you! I promise I'll never do anything like that again!" Emma cried.

"Times up miss swan" Regina stated as she walked away, all the confidence of the mayor, and all the sadness of the broken hearted woman that she really was.

"Regina!" Emma called after her. "Regina please! Please!" She cried, but Regina just kept walking.
