Sanji peeled his lips back exposing long, sharp canines as wind howled through the living room; shattered glassed made light, tinkling sounds as it shifted in the tremulous winds. His blue eyes searched for the danger, the attacker he knew was there; he could feel the power and small the scent of steel, he scanned the living room as the lights flickered before completely giving up and shutting off. Nami panted in the corner, her arms over head as she tried to look around as well, Sanji moved to her slowly and pushed his large shoulder against her, trying to get her to move into her own room, into safety.
"Nami, get in your room. Get somewhere safe."
The woman looked at him dumbfounded but nodded, opening her door and slipping inside Sanji stood guard, deep, quiet growls rumbling in his chest as with another burst of wind, a streak of lighting shot through the living room, scorching the carpet at his feet. It was then the shadow began to manifest itself, rising to the window outside Sanji felt a trickle of fear travel down his spine as the wings covered the large window in shadow. The sound of crunching glass made his growl rise further as a large man stepped through, the wings tucking into his back slowly. Sanji felt the hair on his back raise as his hackles raised, his fight or flight response screaming at him to run from this danger. The singing of a sword being freed made his ears pin back, and as the curtains fluttered with the howling wind Sanji could finally see his assailant. He was large, broad in the shoulder and neck, thick muscular arms and legs. He was barrel chested with lean hips and smelt strongly of steel, pine, and sulfur; he was a demon. Sanji snarled as he stepped forward, the light from outside making the mans bronzed skin look darker then it was, his dark eyes shining ebony in the dim light, Sanji's sharp eyes could just barely make out green hair before the man made his move. Sanji almost missed it, the man was so fast and his attack would have lethal had Sanji not moved. The man turned, following his movement, the wolf in Sanji balked at the intensity in the gaze that met his, shrank away from the demonic presence the man let over flow from his being. Growling Sanji stood his ground as the man stood tall and turned on the wolf, his brows meeting in the middle in a deep frown.
"So, this is the beast responsible for the were-wolf plague. I'm not impressed."
Sanji growled more, another hunter; how many had he been forced to kill? How many more times was he going to be forced to uproot his life and start again? He growled in defiance and peeled his lips away from his teeth in a menacing grin that did nothing to intimidate the man before him. The demon simply tilted his head, almost amused that Sanji dare fight back. The man changed once again, Sanji felt the pressure of the attack as he dropped to his stomach onto the floor, the crack of something behind him made him glance and he could see the kitchen counter cleaved in two. Swallowing thickly Sanji took a step back, his bravado dwindling some. Whoever had been hunting him all these years had upped the ante, who ever this man...this demon was, he meant business and his was to kill Sanji.
Zoro stared at the blonde wolf in front of him, it seemed like such a simple thing to kill it now, it barely seemed able to fight back; though it had tired to be tough, showing fangs and letting growls rip from its chest, nothing phased Zoro though. He finally had the beast cornered in a situation it couldn't flee, finally after so many years of hunting the infuriating animal he would kill it, put it down and be done with this entire situation. Vivi would be let free, and Ace would be able to move on with his life, Zoro frowned in determination and raised Wado, ready to end the creature where it was. He frowned more as blue orbs looked into his own, a fire burned in them Zoro wasn't expecting, the wolf had fight left, it wanted to live... The man in him screamed to end the beast, kill it where it stood and be done with it, but the demon in him...it hissed at the thought; rebelled at the idea of killing the creature. The demon in him hissed louder as he poised Wado for the finally blow and as he brought the weapon down, watching almost as if in slow motion the wolf close its eyes, cowering and accepting its fate the demon screeched and forced him to stop. Zoro audibly hissed as his heart pounded suddenly, loudly; as if he'd been running a marathon, his eyes watered as his veins felt as if they were full of fire and he put a hand on the wall next to him to keep himself upright as vision swam. Zoro barred his own fangs as the wolf growled at him again, steeling himself he once again moved to kill the beast, but found his arm heavy, found his body wouldn't listen as he screamed internally at him self to end it. No matter how hard he tried, he could not.
Sanji blinked as the demon staggered, the light from the city outside casting across his face, a growl bubbled forth as realization hit him hard; it was the man that had been hunting him this entire time. That green haired bastard had been following him for years and when he thought he'd lost him, low and behold here he stood, still trying to kill him. He watching as the man barred his own fangs and hissed as Sanji simply watched; he looked as if he were pain, his eyes shined brightly and he could see unshed tears gathering around the rim of the ebony eyes. His blue ones locked onto the demons and he growled again as his body shook on its own. The fur on his back stood on end as his ears began to ring loudly. He whimpered as his body suddenly turned on him, the fur melting away to skin as his fangs retreated back into his gums and his vision and hearing dulled slightly back into the sight of the man. He hunched onto his knees, gritting his teeth and trying to force his body back into the large canine but nothing worked.
"W-what did you do to me...? Bastard."
The demon hissed down at him, pushing off the wall he stumbled and fell forward, Sanji let out a grunt as the larger man fell ontop of him, pinning him to his back as two large hands closed around his throat; but there was no pressure. Sanji glared up at the man who glared back, trembling as he grit his own teeth and shaking Sanji slightly. Sanji tried to ignore the sensation of heat flowing from the man's hands around his throat, the callused hands and how warm his skin felt against his own. Sanji growled through his teeth as he locked his own thing hands around thick, strong wrists and tried to pry the demon off of him, the green haired bastard didn't move, his voice coming out low, hissing and forced.
"I was going to ask you that, mutt. What magic do you posses to stop my killing you?"
Sanji growled more at the insult, lifting his knee he wedged it between them and pushed, the demon toppled off him and using his weight Sanji sprang to his feet taking a fighting stance as the demon stood, sword at the ready. They both blinked, shocked as the petite red head suddenly appeared between them, a small pole held in her hands that made Sanji take a step back.
"Nami, I told you to hide."
"Shut up Sanji, what the hell is going on? My home is in shambles."
The blond ran a hand through his hair and sighed, his blue eyes piercing the demon with a glare.
"This bastard has been hunting me down for years, trying to kill me for some reason, though I don't know why. I don't remember doing anything to piss him off at any point in my life."
The man glared back and hissed.
"I was hired, some big shots with a lot of money and power hired me to hunt you down and kill you. After I failed the first few times they gave me some incentive and took a friend of mine hostage. If I don't kill you, or take you in they'll kill her."
Sanji frowned and pinched the bridge of his nose, pinning the man with a hard glare, he moved past Nami and faced off with his almost killer, looking into the ebony orbs staring back at him. He sighed and looked over his should at Nami and gave her a small smile.
"I'm going with him."
"What?!"
"There's an innocent life on the line Nami, its not in me to just let someone else die because of me."
She opened her mouth to protest but he shook his head and put a hand on her shoulder.
"It's alright Nami, I've lived a long time, and if my life is needed to save some one else then at least it'll have some value."
He looked back at the demon, who was staring at him in shock.
"Stay here, let me get dressed and make a few arrangements."
The man nodded and watched as Sanji walked down the hall to his own room, he rummaged through a few drawers and found a pair of jeans, and a pull over shirt, grabbing a pair of socks and shoes he grabbed his wallet and walked out. Handing Nami a slip of paper he gave her another smile.
"That is my account information, feel free to dip into it to fix the windows and counter. If I don't come back, thank you, for everything."
Nami opened her mouth to argue but Sanji pulled her into a tight hug and shook his head, he smiled and released her walking over to the demon his smile faded and he frowned.
"Whatever you're going to do, do it."
Zoro hissed, wrapping a strong arm around the blondes own and pinning them down; he pulled the smaller man against him and exhaled as his wings erupted from his back, he took long strides towards the broken windows and without hesitation dropped out. His wings billowed out as air filled them and carried them up above the rooftops. Sanji couldn't help but gasp at the view, Zoro ignored it and pumped his wings, making his way back to Robin. There she could make the call and then he could begin the long journey to turn the wolf in and be free of the maniacs. He tried to keep his thoughts on that, his freedom, not how the wolf's lean human body felt against his side, or how warm he was, or how his scent teased him. It was almost intoxicating, fresh like a new rain in spring; but deep and earthy like the woods after the same rain. He grit his teeth as his body suddenly woke and became intimately aware of the other man, he wanted to just drop the beast for tormenting him so badly, so suddenly. But even as the thought crossed his mind his inner demon hissed possessively at him, he glared down at the small man as he watched the scenery sweep by under them, his blue eyes wide and alight with awe and grit his teeth so hard his jaw popped. He shifted his wings slightly and banked them towards the out skirts of the city, his demon hissing in delight as Zoro made a last minute choice to simply start the long journey now instead of taking the wolf back to Robin. He landed them in the grass outside a small wooded area softly, pulling his wings back into his back as he fished his phone from his pocket and sent a note to the raven haired woman informing her of the situation confident she would pass on the information.
"Where are we?"
Zoro looked over his shoulder at the wolf and balled his fists tightly as the moonlight suddenly flooded the area casting across the blonde and making him look other worldly. It was torture and Zoro had no idea why at that moment the other man looked beautiful to him. Shaking him self he glared at the wolf and growled out his response.
"We're on the outside of the city, we'll walk cross country til we get where we're going."
"Cross country? Can't you just fly us to where ever it is? If I'm going to die, I'd rather just get it over with."
The last statement hitting Zoro hard, he closed his eyes tightly as his demon hissed in response to the blond speaking of his death, he took a deep breath and turned looking down at the man.
"If you're in such a rush to die, I'll kill you here and now. I just thought I'd give you a week or so to enjoy breathing before these people get their hands on you."
Sanji blinked and sighed, shaking his head.
"Fine, whatever you say. I already made my choice. At this point I'm just following your lead."
Zoro nodded, turned and began to stalk away from the wolf, very much aware of his following, his inner demon hissed triumphantly; but Zoro had no idea why it was so happy, while he himself was exhausted and irate.
