Flight

"Are you kidding me? Syndrome!?" Fred exclaimed, and if he was honest Hiro couldn't blame him for his reaction, "That psycho who murdered all those super then sent that giant robot to attack the city so that he could pass himself off as one? He was your boyfriend!?"

"What can I say, he was different when we first met," Odette told them, and Hiro guessed the pain he heard in her voice didn't have much to do with her wounds, "At least he seemed to be. I mean he had his vendetta against supers back then, but he acted like he was simply wanting to prove that he was wanting to prove that he was worthy of standing among them, and if you could have seen the pain in his eyes when he talked about how he was rejected as Mr Incredible's sidekick... I don't know, maybe I was just fooling myself. I probably already knew about the darkness inside him but I didn't want to see it, wanted to think that the good and brilliant man I fell for was still there, so I turned a blind eye to some of his more questionable activities. That turned out to harder and harder to do as the heroes continued to die during the Omnidroid development process, and by the time I saw the monster at his heart I was already in too deep: There was so much blood on my hands from helping him I thought myself beyond redemption, that I had become a monster too."

"So what happened?" Hiro asked her.

"Mr. Incredible did," Odette told them, "I was staking out Frozone's civilian identity as a potential hero to be lured into being a new test subject for Buddy's latest version of Omnidroid when I uncovered evidence that indicated the fat friend with him was, in fact, the one hero Buddy most wanted to find, the very Super that was at the root of this grudge: Mr Incredible. I was glad when I made that discovery and more than happy to change the target to him, for not only did I have no confidence that Frozone stood any chance of surviving the testing process, especially since stronger Supers had fallen to earlier Omnidroid versions (and I was growing quite weary of all the death), but also I knew that Buddy would have wanted me to make the change. Finally, and you can call me dillusional if you want to (I myself think that I was), but I was hopeful that once Mr Incredible was gone that Buddy would finally let his grudge go and focus instead on his marginally more legitimate enterprise (as well as his play-acting at being a hero.) I didn't know until after Mr Incredible destroyed that Omnidroid version, which led to the version that served as the prototype for the one Buddy would use to attack Metroville, that his successful test would leave a family without a husband and a father." Odette seemed to realize where she was, probably a bit out of it due to her exhaustion and whatever Baymax used to treat her wounds, and she looked panicked as she stammered, "Um, actually, what I meant was..."

"We actually know a bit about the Incredibles," Hiro assured her, "Not their civilian identities, mind you, so you can keep that to yourself, but we do know about them from earlier."

"Huh? Oh, right," Odette said in realization, "the alien invasion incident from a couple months back. Anyway, after he shot them down when they flew to Nomanisan Island looking for Mr Incredible, and he dared Mr Incredible to follow through with his threat to crush me to death when he overpowered his restraints and held me hostage in exchange for his release, that's when I knew the man I'd fallen for so long ago was truly gone (assuming that he was ever there to begin with.) Buddy Pine was as dead as Incrediboy, and all there was here was the monster known as Syndrome. I knew that doing so might land me in jail for the rest of my life, if I was lucky, but I still had to help Mr Incredible and his family escape and I had to help them stop Syndrome. Therefore I was surprised when Mr Incredible testified for me during my trial and got my charges reduced and my sentence commuted to community service. I was even more shocked when Agent Decker approached after the Screenslaver incident and invited me to apply to join the newly re-formed NSA. After all I'd done I didn't think I would ever see the light of day again. Unfortunately, Syndrome's underlings took my 'betrayal' personally and seem to want me dead. During an investigation of reports of a new super in this area I got separated from my group, my communications with them were jammed as I was ambushed. If it wasn't for the training the NSA gave me, as well as what Syndrome taught me about how to fight, I probably would have been killed then and there. It's kinda funny, isn't it, my being grateful for anything Syndrome gave me while his men are trying to end me."

"No, it's perfectly understandable," Go-Go countered, giving her a half smile as she said, "though it's hard not to appreciate the irony there."

"Irony, yeah," Odette said under her breath in a melancholy tone.

"But what are we going to do with her?" Honey Lemon asked as she used her holo-pad to check through the various security feeds, "Those guys don't seem to be leaving, and I doubt that we'll be able to do so well hiding her next time if they decide to double-back this way and do a more thorough search of the lab."

Hiro knew she was right but he had some difficulty thinking of what to do about it, so it came with a mixture of relief and annoyance when Fred suddenly said, "Why don't we take her to my place? I doubt that anyone would think to look for her there, and even if they did we have so many rooms they would get lost before they found her. If worst came to worst I know where the rooms where Dad keeps his old gear are hidden, and we can stash her in there while we prepare some nasty surprises for those guys should they refuse to vacate."

"Dude!" Wasabi complained, "Do the words 'secret ID' mean nothing to you!?"

"Chillax, bro! She's with the NSA," Fred assured him, "I'm sure that they know all about us."

"Assuming that she's telling the truth about that," Go-Go said, not bothering to conceal her suspicions.

Hiro looked at each of them, weighing the options in his mind before saying, "Fred's right, his place is the best place to take her until she can contact her superiors."

"Hiro," Go-Go started to say before he held up his hand and said, "Just hear me out. This lady needs protecting, and what's happening here is bigger than even us. Whether she is telling the truth about working for them we need to contact the NSA to help deal with these guys, and with them crawling around campus it's too dangerous to do so here. If it turns out that she's lying they can wipe her memory of what she learned tonight." At Wasabi's raised eyebrow Hiro shrugged and said, "I had some questions about that close call we had last week, so I gave Mr Incredible a call."

"That was good thinking, I was sure that our faces were going to end up plastered on the cover of Otaku Inquisitor," Wasabi said, "but how are we going to get Miss Asis out of here? I doubt that those guys are going to let us walk her out the front door."

"The roof," Fred suggested, "They're not likely guarding the way up there, as this girl's likely not a Super, are you?" As Odette shook her head no, Go-Go said, "But there's really no way down from there, unless...no. Are we really doing this?"

Hiro nodded as he said, "Get to it, Honey Lemon." Honey Lemon nodded her acknowledgement, and as she walked towards a workstation in the corner Hiro grabbed a long scrap of cloth left over from some other student's project and turned back towards Odette as he said, "I'm sorry about this, but..."

"Don't worry about it," Odette interrupted as she took the cloth from him and deftly tied it over her eyes, "I've done this so often during basic training that it's become routine."

Hiro felt good about this, that he was making the right decision here. If Miss Asis was lying about being an NSA agent (or cadet hopeful) then she was certainly an excellent actor. Still, he wouldn't prioritize protecting their secret over someone's life: that was the NSA's job. Once he made sure that Odette's makeshift blindfold was secure and that she couldn't see anything Hiro looked over at Honey Lemon and nodded, at which she then pressed the Enter key of the keyboard's numeric pad with her thumb while simultaneously clicking a couple of cleverly camouflaged buttons on the keyboard's edge. When she did her thumb lit up from beneath as a fingerprint scanner hidden in the Enter key activated and, a couple seconds later, tool racks and cabinets slid back or rotated around to reveal the hiding spaces where their hero outfits were stored, as well as several drawers completely filled with Hiro's microbots.

Several agonizing minutes later Hiro and his friends made it to the roof. Fortunately it seemed as though these guys were focusing their search on the lower floors, and what few they came across they were able to get past by Hiro's luring them someplace by creating distractions with his microbots. The roof, however, was completely deserted, the only ones here being Hiro and his friends in their Big Hero 6 outfits, as well as Odette who had some of his microbots clinging to her form like an chain-mail suit.

"These tiny bots of yours are pretty neat, the way they work together like this," Odette commented as she looked at them in the pale moonlight and what light got up there from the lamps in the quad below, "They don't make for the most comfortable outfit, though."

"I understand, but that was the best we could come up with in such short notice," Hiro told her, "Besides, my microbots are tough enough to deflect their shots should your friends find and attack us."

"I hope so," Odette said quietly, nervous tension in her voice, "So I take it from what you said earlier that you have a way down from here. Are we going to fly out of here or something?"

"Not exactly," Hiro told her, "Baymax is the only one of us who has flight capabilities, and while he's powerful enough to carry us all while doing so his speed and maneuverability would be limited. If we were to be spotted we would be little more than a large, slow-moving target."

"How are we getting out of here then?" Odette asked him as she looked over the edge of the roof towards the quad, "The campus is crawling with those guys, we'd never be able to sneak past them."

Hiro saw what she meant, that there was indeed too many to just slip past on foot. Fortunately Hiro had already thought of that and had a solution ready. Giving Odette a half smile, Hiro gestured back towards the stairwell, out of which the remainder of his microbots were streaming out, as he said, "You didn't think that those were just useful as armor, did you?"

As they watched, the microbots quickly formed themselves into a bridge that spanned the expanse between the rooftops of the Ito Ishioka Robotics Lab where they were now and the Institute's nearest building. "Let's cross now, as quickly and quietly as possible." Hiro's friends crossed first, with Go-Go and Wasabi leading the way. As Fred and Honey Lemon crossed the bridge Baymax approached Odette and said, "Pardon me, Miss Asis," as he scooped her up and followed the others, Hiro bringing up the rear. As he crossed the Microbots eliminated the sections of the bridge behind him while reinforcing the ones before him, strongly reminding him of back when he first demonstrated his invention what seemed a lifetime ago, back when his brother was still alive, when he was trying to win an admittance to this place.

As he reached the edge of the other rooftop HIro didn't bother continuing to run, instead assuming a surfer's stance as his microbots whisked him around the edge of the rooftop and past his friends before thrusting him over to the next, forming the next bridge as they did so. So on the traversal of the campus went, with Hiro alternating between leading the others and following after them, and as they did so Hiro caught glimpses of both armored land transports and saucer-looking vehicles that looked as thought they would seat one or two scattered around the grounds. Hiro wondered how these guys could have overrun the campus this much without the Institute's security getting involved, then he spotted one of the guards slumped over the wheel of his electric cart. Utilizing his link to Baymax's advanced scanners, Hiro breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the guy was merely knocked out, most likely from some sort of tranquilizer, and had only superficial injuries. A scan of the surrounding area showed a few other immobile heat signatures who were showing the same symptoms, and according to Baymax's analysis they should be recovering in around 20 to 30 minutes, by which time these thugs would likely be gone without a trace (at least Hiro hoped that they would be, as he didn't want anyone to end up hurt just for doing their job.)

It was as they were traversing the bridge spanning the distance to the campus' outer wall that disaster decided to rear its ugly head. Apparently some birds had made a nest in a tree near where the bridge happened to form, and they made noisily clear that they didn't appreciate Hiro and his friends intruding on their privacy. Some of the intruders nearby heard the commotion and raised their lights to look.

"Who's there"

"It's that local group of supers!"

"Who's that with them?"

"That's got to be the target! Don't let them get away, open fire!"

As the men started firing in their direction, which in turn drew more of their comrades to their position, Hiro felt himself grateful that Julian had helped them upgrade their armor during the Chitauri invasion. Still he did not want to test their armor's durability or vulnerabilities nor those of the microbots forming the bridge and Miss Asis' armor, and the important thing was getting her to safety so she could contact her superiors for help, so Hiro focused on sending a mental command. The next thing anyone knew the bridge changed into a slide under their feet, and they were all swiftly swept down onto a cushion of the microbots which caught them at the bottom. As they got back to their feet Hiro heard the slamming of doors and the vehicles' engines starting. Thinking quickly, Hiro had some of his microbots seal off the north entrance, and a second later an impression of one of the front end of one of the vehicles was punched into the barrier as they tried and failed force their way through (again, due to the improvements Julian had made to his original design.) Unfortunately Hiro knew that would only slow them down as they merely needed to drive to one of the Institute's other entrances (and he wouldn't want to coop them up there and have them take their frustrations out on the guards anyways), and the barricade proved to be no impediment at all to the saucer-like vehicles, which indeed could fly and quite fast too.

Having Honey Lemon take his customary place on Baymax's back, who himself was still carrying Miss Asis in his arms, Hiro used his microbots to sped himself along with Wasabi and Fred down the road, Baymax flying before them and Go-Go racing along on her disc-like wheels. As fast as they were going, however, the flying saucers were able to keep pace and even cut them off from trying to take any alternate routes to try and lose them. They weren't able to turn Hiro and his friends from their course to reach Fred's mansion, though, and the few who tried found themselves smashed out of the sky by a giant microbot fist. It still felt like they were being herded somewhere, however, and that bothered Hiro nearly as much as how all throughout this frantic chase Hiro heard no sign of the authorities coming to intercede. Pulling up Baymax's scan data, Hiro saw that their pursuers were jamming all long-range communications, including phones, within a 10 block radius: only the communicators Hiro had built into their suits seemed to be largely unaffected.

Eventually their path took them through an alley that was too narrow for the disc-flyers to follow them through, but as they exited the other end Hiro saw that they were completely surrounded, each road blocked by the armored vehicles (which apparently had found their way here from the Institute) and those disc-flyers, every one of the men leveling their guns at them. He felt incredibly frustrated when a magnification of the street before him, and behind the men blocking his way, showed that Fred's mansion was a mere 5 blocks straight ahead. It was highly unlikely that they would be able to get through without a fight, and with this many guns pointed at them the chances one of them might get in a lucky shot was very good, and bulldozing their way past them wasn't likely to work either ad the outer rings of those fliers looked rather sharp.

As Hiro was contemplating the options he realized that the thugs weren't making any actions towards them, weren't either moving towards them or actively firing at them, which is odd considering how they had no problem doing both back at the institute. Apparently he wasn't the only one to notice as Go-Go popped her gum and said, "Just what are those guys waiting for?"

"I do believe they're waiting for me," Hiro heard a voice say from up above them. He looked up and, for one moment, Hiro felt his mind go blank in disbelief at what he was seeing. A glance out the corner of his eyes told him his friends were just as gobsmacked (especially Fred.) Odette, however, looked downright horrified as she softly said, "No, that's impossible!"

"You should know that nothing is impossible, my dear Mirage," Syndrome said as he floated down slowly on the thrust of his rocket-boots, his voice clearly audible even though, "Not for us Supers."

"But...you're not a super!" Odette insisted, "You're human, and Mr Incredible said that after you tried to steal his son you were sucked into your jet engine and killed. You're supposed to be dead!"

"I gotta say, I'm disappointed in you," Syndrome said as he landed, clucking his tongue, "I expected that muscle-head to underestimate me like he always had, but I thought you at least would know me better than that. Still, he wasn't entirely wrong: after I attempted to steal that freak he calls his son I did indeed get pulled into the engine of my jet by my cape, but the emergency force-field I designed to deploy in the event I happen to be too close to something exploding proved to be more than up to the task."

"That '"freak'!?" Honey Lemon growled angrily, and Hiro looked over to see Wasabi reaching over to stop her from doing something to provoke an escalation they were not ready to deal with yet. Hiro understood and sympathized with her reaction, however, recalling how she and Jack Jack had bonded during the Chitauri invasion.

"Unfortunately the response time wasquite not what I would have liked it to be yet, as you can see for yourself," Syndrome told Odette, completely ignoring Honey Lemon as he reached up and removed the half-mask. Hiro couldn't blame Miss Asis for the gasp of horror she let out when Syndrome's face was fully exposed: he looked much like the character on the box art of that horrible Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde video game, except he looked much more revolting as his deformities were all too real. "You like it?" Syndrome said with a horrible grin, made much more horrible due to the fact that his mouth on the burn-scarred side didn't work as well, "I owe my new look due to your betrayal, when you chose to send Mr Incredible and his family to Metroville in my own rocket, not to say nothing of when you set him loose after I captured him the first time."

"I betrayed you!?" Odette said in an outraged tone, which was nearly ruined when she started to gag in the middle, "You betrayed me when you gave Mr Incredible the go-ahead to kill me! 'I just called his bluff' my foot! You just wanted to see him reduced down to your level."

"Potato, po-tah-to," Syndrome said dismissively, "Anyway, you're lucky that I'm in a rather forgiving mood right now as I've come to offer you back your old position in my organization."

"What?" Odette said in shock at this unexpected turn, "But your men tried to kill me just now!"

"They were just a little overly zealous in their efforts to to bring you back, and maybe some of them took your new leaving us a bit too personally, not understanding the reasons why," Syndrome countered, "I promise to have those responsible punished appropriately and that everyone will be on their best behavior from here on out. Well, what do you say Mirage?"

Miss Asis stared at the offered hand for a moment, and Hiro wondered if she was seriously considering taking Syndrome up on his offer. Then she crossed her arms and said in a determined tone, "I'm sorry, but I like what I do now. I like who I am, I cannot possibly go back to how things were. And my name is"

For a moment Syndrome didn't react, simply raising his eyebrow in response. Then he shrugged and said over his shoulder, "Well I had to try, didn't I my dear?"

"I could have told you she'd turn you down," A female voice said from behind the line of goons behind Syndrome, and Hiro saw the speaker a short time later as she pushed her way past them. Her outfit was somewhat altered from its original appearance, the full hood replaced by a simple pair of goggles (which she was currently wearing on her head rather than over her eyes), but Hiro recognized her as the Screenslaver who not long ago tried to sabotage the Supers efforts to return to being able to operate legally again. Screenslaver gave Odette a condescending smile as she draped her arm over Syndrome's shoulders and said to him, "She has become too much like my brother, too enamored by these Supers to see how they're leading our society to ruin."

"True," Syndrome said as he pointed in Odette's direction, "Still we cannot leave her here, she knows too much. You should have taken my offer, Mirage, cause you are coming with us all the same."

"No!" Odette exclaimed as Syndrome's fingertip began to glow. Acting on impulse, Hiro commanded his microbots to form a wall in front of Miss Asis, managing to do so just as an energy blast enveloped them. The diagnostic analysis of the ones within the field showed that they were still active, but their motor functions seemed to be stuck in a state of quantum flux, as if they were frozen in that moment of time.

"Fascinating, did you see that response time?" Syndrome said as he reeled in the mass of microbots still caught within his energy field, "They reacted fast enough to block my Zero-Point energy. I don't think that even Mr Incredible's speedy little brat could have managed that."

Syndrome reached in to grab hold of one of the microbots to inspect it better, but the moment it was clear of the Zero-Point energy field Hiro commanded it to flip out of his hand and rejoin the others still gathered behind him. As Syndrome grunted in frustration, Screenslaver smiled and said, "Yes, the neural interface must be practically 1 to 1, with a broadcast latency lag of less than 0.3 microseconds. That's better than even the most advanced prosthesis with a direct connection to the human nervous system. You truly are a prodigy, Hiro Hamada, but you're wasting your talents by playing hero here in this little town."

"Huh?" Hiro said calmly, trying to hide his shock that this lady seemed to know his real name, "Just what are you talking abou-"

"Oh, please!" Screenslaver said exasperatedly, "You may fool the brainless masses that you entrusted your story that you entrusted your preious nanobots, your fines and potentially most dangerous invention, to the team of heroes to fight the alien invasion with, but as an inventor myself I know better: You would never let something like that fall into the hands of another without a means to control them yourself, and maybe not even then as countermeasures can be overridden."

Hiro silently cursed himself for his oversight. Of course he had come up with that story on the fly to explain how this new hero was using his microbots to fight the aliens, but he realized belatedly that he should have stopped using them after the invasion was over. However, it felt good to be actively participating in battles rather than just riding around on Baymax's back issuing orders (especially since his teammates were becoming increasingly proficient in this and more capable of making their own decisions in the field.

"Don't be salty, you and I are much the same really," Screenslaver told him, "You formed your group to help you get your revenge against the man who stole your tech and killed your brother. I created the Screenslaver to ensure that the heroes who lulled my parents into complacency and got them killed as a result were never able to operate legally again. You see? Your talents are totally wasted here. We can give you the funding and resources to take your ideas further than you ever imagined. Your friends too, as I understand that most of them are rather talented in their own fields. All you have to do is hand over the woman. I'll even give you my word that we won't kill her or cause her undue harm, so you won't have to worry about being involved in that business indirectly. Well, what do you say?"

Hiro wanted to tell her no, that she was wrong about him and that he would take her offer Jigoku froze over, but he couldn't deny the truth in her words. taking a look at the expectant look in his friends faces, taking particular note of the fear in Odette's. Finally Hiro sighed and said in a heavy tone, "You're right. I did form Big Hero 6 in order to to get revenge for my brother's death. I had told them that I wanted to bring him to justice, but the truth was that I wanted to make him pay, even more so after I found out it was Professor Callaghan, the very man who my brother died running back into the fire to save, who had set the fire in the first place. The man I most wanted to be like, who I looked up to as a role model and potential mentor, he stole my invention and left my brother to die. I mourned his 'death' in the same breath as I did my brother's, and when I found out everything I thought I knew was a lie I didn't think twice about subverting the caregiver programming my brother had programmed Baymax with to have him try and kill Professor Callaghan." Hiro took a couple more cleansing breaths to steady himself, then he continued, "However, my friends were able to stop Baymax before he was able to carry out my order. They were able to show me that Professor Callaghan did what he had in the pursuit of revenge against Alistair Krei, for his involvement in what he believed to be his daughter's death. They helped me realize that if I continued on my path I would end up just like Callaghan, that it's far more important to stop him from hurting anyone than anything else. So you see, we're actually not the same: I've learned from and grown beyond my desire for revenge, but you're still stuck on blaming Supers for the decisions your parents had made. I'm sorry, but I will have to pass on your offer."

"Well said," Go-Go praised him.

"Exactly," Honey Lemon agreed.

"Begone, foul temptress!" Fred said in his usual over-acting manner.

"And take your goons with you!" Wasabi chimed in.

"No harm will befall Miss Odette Asis while she is under my care," Baymax announced.

Syndrome chuckled and said, "It looks as though you are even worse at this persuasion tactic than I am, Evelyn."

"Oh, I have just begun with my 'persuasion', Buddy," Screenslaver replied to him, and Hiro didn't like the sinister undertones in what she said, a feeling that was intensified when halfway through her statement she lowered her goggles over her eyes and began typing on a holographic keyboard that appeared over her left forearm. Not even a second later Hiro received and alert that a worm-style virus was trying to break its way through his suit's firewall. Acting quickly, Hiro began furiously typing on a virtual keyboard, removing the worm from his system, reinforcing his firewall, and completely changing the security protocols of his suit's onboard OS.

"You're right about the kid," Syndrome said in grudging admiration, "he is good."

Screenslaver nodded as she said, "Mmmhmm. Not only did he manage to block my hack, something that nobody has managed to do yet, but he managed to do so so quickly and had locked me out so completely that only a brute force attack might manage to get me through now. A shame, though, that he wasn't able to do the same for his friends."

"What?" Asked as he turned around to see his friends glaring at him, their narrowed eyes lit up with swirling patterns from inside their visors (Hiro couldn't see Fred's face, due to it being hidden in his full-body suit, but he assumed that the same held true for him. "Wasabi? Honey Lemon?" Hiro called out to them, his voice breaking as he said, "Go-Go?"

"It's no use Hiro," Screenslaver told him smugly, "Your friends only have eyes and ears for me now."

Hiro glared at her, then when he saw Baymax looking in apparent confusion at his friends he asked, "Baymax?"

"I detected a digital intrusion in my CPU by an unknown program, but its instructions was in direct violation of my core programming so I had it quarantined and deleted," Baymax told him.

"You couldn't get the robot?" Syndrome asked Screenslaver, who answered, "Its various protocols were too complicated to counter them all, but I did block its access to its secondary combat programming."

"Let. Them. Go!" Hiro growled at the villains, his last word punctuated as a scream and with his nanobots rising up behind him like a wave whose cascading edge was lined with razor-sharp spikes. Almost immediately, however, his friends rushed out to form a human shield between Screenslaver (and Syndrome) and himself.

"You want them back?" Screenslaver asked, "Fine then, just hand over the traitor and I'll relinquish my command over your friends. Otherwise..." Screenslaver punctuated her unspoken threat by having his friends assume combat-ready poses, with Wasabi activating his wrist-mounted plasma blades and Fred breathing a gout of fire.

Hiro's mind was in turmoil, he didn't know what he was going to do. There was no way he could possibly defeat this many men by himself, especially if Baymax couldn't fight with him, and he certainly wouldn't be able to do so without hurting his friends in the process. Apparently Miss Asis came to the same conclusion as, with a resigned look on her face, she started to walk towards her former employer until Hiro grabbed her by the hand, using his control over the nanobots comprising her armor to lock her in place in the event she tried to break free of him anyways. "Hiro?" Odette asked him in confusion.

"Go-Go and the others would never forgive me trading your life for theirs, and my brother wouldn't approve of that either," Hiro told her, then he turned to the group of villains and said, "I will never turn Miss Asis over to the likes of you."

"As you wish. Mirage's blood, as well as your own, is on yours and your friends' hands," Screenslaver said coldly before commanding, "Destroy them!"

As Hiro saw his friends rush towards them menacingly, Wasabi and Honey Lemon charging towards him while Fred and Go-Go speeding towards Baymax, Hiro called out, "Baymax!" but Baymax was already in action, grabbing Miss Asis and spinning around to trap her bodily between himself and the wall just before Fred and Go-Go reached them, with Fred bathing Baymax with fire and Go-Go chucking her discs at him with great velocity. Hiro then caught sight of Honey-Lemon chucking an orb at him of a compound he'd never seen her produce before, and Hiro commanded his microbots to form a shell around him just before it impacted upon it. Even though his helmet, which sealed itself for his safety, Hiro could smell the chemical odor and heard the hissing, and a spectrographic analysis showed that the substance was creating flaws in the hardened structure of his microbots that Wasabi's plasma blade was now eating into.

"Hiro, my armor's integrity is down to 47% and failing rapidly," Hiro told him through his headset, "I estimate that critical damage and system failure will occur in approximately 1 minute 13 seconds."

"Yeah, I'm not doing so hot over here either, buddy," Hiro relayed back to him, seeing the glow from Wasabi's blade growing steadily brighter. Now he was wishing that they had taken the chance of charging through Syndrome's ranks before he and his ally had a chance to show up, as there's no way he could bring himself to fight and possibly hurt his friends. Now he felt himself hoping that Go-Go wouldn't remember anything that she was made to do today as well as regretting that he never took her out on a real date, agreement or no...

Thwipp, Thwipp. Suddenly the assault had stopped, the glow from Wasabi's plasma blade no longer visible. In confusion, Hiro had his bots part enough for him to see, and his shock at what he saw was so great that the shell fell away entirely: Wasabi and Honey Lemon were lying prone at his feet, restrained there by what appeared to be a giant spiderweb! Looking back towards Baymax he saw Fred and Go-Go stuck to the wall by a similar web.

"What!?" Screenslaver exclaimed, her mouth twisted in an angry snarl. Syndrome looked around for a moment before, fixing upon a point behind and above him, he cried out, "Who, or what, is that!?" Following his gaze, Hiro spotted a medium-large bot clinging to the side of a building on the corner behind the enemy forces. It was blue and red with a section of its front dominated by a large LCD screen which gave the impression of angry eyes glaring down at Syndrome and his men. As Hiro watched the unknown robot lept off the side of the building, leaving behind very little damage (And Hiro wondering how it had managed to cling to the sheer face of the building like that in the first place) and landing agilely between Hiro and Syndrome. Up close he could see that it was as elaborate as anything created for the Bot Fights he used to like watching and participating in (though this one was admittedly 100 times larger at least), with its red and blue paint-job detailed with black web-like accents and a white stylized spider shaped emblem placed on its front just under the LCD display, which now showed a happy face as it did a series of punches and kicks in the direction of Syndrome's group and announced in a synthesized, female-sounding voice, "Designation: SP/ /dr. Function: Kicking bad guy butt!"
