AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER
Takes place during "The Number Of Rats/Daydream Believer" and is from Jay's perspective on a line and deals with an idea I had for Jay's background. Belongs to Dick Wolf and NBC.
After the interrogation, Jay blew out a quiet breath and his eyes clouded. It had been his first time playing "bad cop" and to be honest, he hadn't had to even pretend all that much. Guys like Greg Yates made him want to punch something. They reminded him too much of what he had gone through due to the Rodiger Family. Not that anyone knew about that. No, they all just thought he had been pissed about Lonnie and what he had done to Ben Corbin, which was true. But so far, he hadn't been able to expose Phil for what he had done to him and given the fact that he had killed Lonnie, Jay didn't see it ever happening. But he had been so sure that he could get Yates, that he could make him break. He just wanted to make sure that no more girls went through something so horrific, especially Nadia. But it hadn't worked out that way. No, instead, Yates had called Nadia "a good girl" and he had lost it. Phil had always called him "a good boy" before threatening him and reminding him not to tell. And to hear someone else getting that moniker by some ass wipe-even in passing-had unnerved him and had made him want to kill the guy. But Voight had stopped him, which was weird. But the older man had reminded them all that they were going by the book on this one and that they couldn't use any of their usual tactics. Jay just hoped that they could put Yates away before he ruined anymore lives. He may have had to live with the memories of what had been done to him, but he would make damn sure that no one else would have to remember. No, they would catch this guy if it was the last thing they did. He would see to it…
