Chapter 8

It was like watching a battle of samurais. Two entirely different people stared in complete concentration towards each other. One was tall and a little buff and the other was short and lanky, almost delicate. One was a man and the other was not. One had a job and the other was a prodigy. One threatened to choke the other and the other held his fake Styrofoam sword in a ready-to-attack stance. Yes, this battle of the samurais consisted of Suikotsu and Sesshomaru.

How did this happen, you may ask? Simple. Little innocent Rin answered a question that no fathers would want to ever hear from their daughters. Let's get back to this particular moment, shall we?

The children, Rin, Sesshomaru, and Inuyasha, had just sat down at the dining table to eat their breakfast. Rin ate her favorite cereal, Sesshomaru ate oatmeal, and Inuyasha ate a full loaded hot breakfast full of pancakes, eggs, sausages, and of course, bacon. Of course, the daily routine would consist of Inuyasha scarfing down his breakfast with Sesshomaru looking in disgust while managing to eat in a prim and proper way rich folks would do, but today was different. There was an exception to their daily routine and that would be Rin. Of course, Inuyasha would be scarfing down his food but instead of Sesshomaru watching his younger half-brother eat in disgust, he would, instead, watch Rin who is also eating enthusiastically. There was no disgust etch on Sesshomaru's face this day. No, instead, he stared at her in awe. She looked like a cute bunny, reminding him of that ridiculous game called 'Chubby Bunny' except without the disgust. Her bulging cheeks full of cereal made him want to hug her. Who would not want a chubby bunny Rin?

Rin had noticed Sesshomaru staring at her and she merely smiled with her full mouth. He could feel heat coming through his face and immediately turned away. Why? He does not understand himself. The only thing he knows is that his breakfast had gotten sweeter because of her even though realistically his oatmeal was bland as a piece of paper.

With the sudden doorbell ringing echoing all the way into the dining room, an unimportant servant rushed to the front to open the door only to be greeted by a frantic Suikotsu asking where his little Rin is and Abi, who merely rolled her eyes at her overprotective husband's antics. Today was going to be another crazy day.

Without even permission to enter, Suikotsu ran into the mansion only to realize how large the mansion was in the inside, even Abi had to open her mouth in awe. The inside screamed 'Rich People Alert: No Poor, Average or Even Slightly Above Average People Allowed' written all over it.

"Interesting. Never thought I would see a mansion disguised as a house before," Abi stated, "It's giving me those 'Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory' vibes."

Suikotsu ignored her statement. His mind was running a mile a minute wanting to see his daughter and squeeze her cute chubby cheeks. One day without her was like a death penalty to him. Abi can attest to that. She even had to watch him make a voodoo doll of Sesshomaru and then putting nails into the doll, cursing Sesshomaru for taking his daughter (which was partially untrue since Abi gave the okay for the sleepover).

Suikotsu wasted no time in searching for Rin, running around like a madman while calling out Rin's name. The commotion was so great, it even startled the Taisho family and Rin from their breakfast, well, except for Inuyasha who tuned it out and only concentrated on finishing his food.

Rin looked worried before she slowly got off the chair with her little feet landing on the floor. She knew what to do to calm her father. She was used to her father's overdramatic performance. With the way things were going, if she did not do something, her father would so much as to destroy other people's properties to find her. She looked at her cereal sadly before waving goodbye to it as if it would be her final farewell. She turned around and walked to the voice of her father.

Meanwhile, the Taisho clan, except for Inuyasha, watched the scene with sweet adoration for the little girl. As if enchanted by her, Sesshomaru followed her. He would not accept being left behind.

Just as she stepped out of the dining room, she could see her father running to her with tears in his eyes while yelling out her name. Without a second thought, she smiled her usual bright smile.

"Good morning, Daddy," she said while waving at her father. Without a second thought, she was suddenly up in the air being held by her father, holding her under her arms. He twirled her around, both father and daughter giggling.

"I missed you, honey," Suikotsu exclaimed, holding her to his chest. It was a picture perfect father and daughter moment.

Jealousy spread across Sesshomaru's frowning face. He wanted to twirl Rin and hold her to his chest like that. Why do adults get to be so strong while he was still weak? He needed more milk and protein, he thought. The almighty Sesshomaru would not fail to seek ultimate power.

"Silly daddy, no pout," Rin said patting her father's head to comfort him. Her father relaxed instantly. Only his daughter and wife can calm his nerves.

Sesshomaru could feel a surge of the green-eyed (technically, red-eyed) monster (demon) within him. Rin's pat was supposed to be his and only his. He cannot let this adult male take what was his to begin with.

"Honey, how was your sleepover?" Abi asked, ignoring the fact this little kid named Sesshomaru and her husband was still crazy obsessive of their daughter to the point it became a rivalry between them.

Rin looked to her mama and beamed.

"Rin had lots of fun. Rin got to play tea party and make cookies and took a bubble bath and did lots and lots of things," Rin explained brightly then frowned, "Then Rin got afraid of the dark and Rin cried a bit," She then brightened up again and continued, "But then Sesshy came in and became a prince knight. He fought the monsters scaring Rin at night and hugged Rin all night until Rin went nighty-night."

When Abi heard that Sesshomaru stayed and probably slept in the same bed as her, she swiftly took Rin out of Suikotsu's arms and held her, knowing full well her husband will have a mental breakdown soon. And he did.

The announcement stunned Suikotsu. The repetitive words of 'hugging Rin all night' stayed on his mind until he finally fell dramatically on the floor in shock as if he was about to faint. His pure Rin tainted by the little brat named Sesshomaru. He could not come to terms with that.

He growled, stood up and pointed at Sesshomaru, "You!" He roared.

Thus came the present. The two ready for a face-off. Who will reign supreme?
