So this is my first fanfiction for this archive so if any of the characters are a bit OOC I apologize. Enjoy!

Brothers

Mika lay down on the bed despite telling Yu that he was fine. His brother always got that expression on his face when he saw Mika after he came back late at night. The one that was filled with worry and hate. Mika knew that the hate was towards the vampires in general despite it being towards one in particular. He heard footsteps walk towards him, and he knew that Yu must be coming towards him.

"Move your shirt collar." Mika opened his eyes and smiled up at Yu, who was standing there with a wet cloth in his hand. He knew that dried blood must still be where he had been bitten, but he hardly cared. He was just tired.

"I'm fine, really Yu." Despite this Yu helped him sit up and carefully moved the collar so that they could clean the bite.

He tried not to wince when the rag wiped up against the bite, as he studied Yu's face. His brother's face held only anger, something that was always noticeable when there were vampires involved.

"How much did he…" His brother trailed off and Mika did wince when he thought of the vampire involved. He shook his head before continuing to smile at his brother, despite his own insecurities.

"Not that much. I'm just tired today." In truth, he had lost more blood than what he was telling his brother, but he didn't want Yu to worry about him.

I can take it if it keeps my family safe…

Yu studied him for a moment before reaching for a piece of gauze to put on the wound. Mika stopped him by pulling the collar back in place.

"We might as well not waste it. It'll be healed soon anyways." He did flinch when he saw his brother's gaze go hard, not trying to stop him when he pulled back the collar and put the gauze on anyways.

"Better to be safe than sorry." Mika couldn't argue with that, noting that the wound had started to bleed a bit again since being cleaned. He pulled the collar back in place before Yu could see; he didn't need his brother going on another suicide mission when they could escape here in a short while.

Just a while longer, then we'll have everything we need…

He lay back on the bed, with Yu joining him on the other side a few minutes later. He noted how his eyes seemed really heavy before he looked over at Yu in concern.

Will he be able to get to sleep?

Just as he was about to ask, Yu glanced over at him and said,

"I'll be fine. You need all the sleep you can get."

Mika nodded, trusting him to tell him the truth. He closed his eyes a second later, remembering that he still had something to tell Yu.

"Yu, thanks." He didn't need to look at his brother to know that he had smiled.

"We're brothers. It's what you would do for me." Mika nodded his head before he fell into a peaceful sleep.

So… just to clarify, AnimeWolfGirl9 and I are writing in collaboration so if anything seems familiar then that is why. We are working on a timeline for this 'universe' so that you can follow along in order when we post them. Please let me know what you think!
