Operation: INVESTIGATE REDCLIFFE VILLAGE AND THE ENTRANCE TO THE VALAMMAR

Acquisition: Upon entering Skyhold, before doing Wicked Hearts, Wicked Minds or From The Ashes

Operation Text:

A recent report from the Inquisition Scouts have determined that someone passed through the Hinterlands and has killed several darkspawn and Carta dwarves by the entrance of the caves in Valammar. There were also reports of a hooded figure providing aid to the people of Redcliffe without us knowing. Despite the numerous number of scouts, it seems that none of them had been able to trace who the mysterious person is. It is suggested that whoever this person is, he must be recruited by the Inquisition. – Leliana

Advisor Suggestions

JOSEPHINE: 14:00:00

I could ask some of our noble allies to conduct investigations around the Hinterlands.

LELIANA: 13:00:00

The fact that this person has alluded the notice of my scouts makes me uncomfortable, Inquisitor. I can send my best man to find out this person is.

CULLEN: Not participating in this mission.

RESULTS

JOSEPHINE

How infuriating. Even the townspeople seem to be protecting this person. We've conducted interviews, and our noble allies have sent spies, but it seems that this person is very elusive. One of Arl Teagan's people was even knocked out cold, his belongings stolen. Whoever this person is, he still evades our grasp. A thousand apologies, Inquisitor, but I don't think we'll be able to recruit him.

LELIANA

I am very sorry, Inquisitor, but this person is very slippery. He had used a sleeping poison to knock my scouts out cold, and have stolen all their belongings. It seems like he is expecting us, like he knew we were looking for him. My apologies again. However, the methods of this man seems… rather familiar.

Operation: THE MYSTERIOUS LETTER

Acquisition: Upon completing INVESTIGATE REDCLIFFE VILLAGE AND THE ENTRANCE TO THE VALAMMAR

Operation Text:

A white raven recently arrived in Skyhold, Inquisitor.

Inquisitor (Last Name),

I must apologize for stripping your people bare of their belongings, but it had to be done. I am not doing this to add to my mystique (but I admit it makes me look awesome, does it not?), but rather to keep some people safe. As one who's decisions ride on the fate of so many, I expect you understand.

From the letters on your spies, I understand you are looking for me for recruitment. I am willing to arrange a meeting with you, and you alone, whenever it is convenient for you. I have lodged in the inn at Redcliffe, though the people might be wary of you. Speak to the barmaid, and if she asks if you have encountered any wolves, tell her that you have, but you are looking for one who roams and fights alone.

I await your arrival.

The Dark Wolf

LELIANA: 9:00

I will send my scouts to accompany you to Redcliffe's inn, but to ensure he will not run away, you would have to proceed alone inside. Be careful, Inquisitor.

CULLEN: 10:00

I am not comfortable with this, but it must be done. I will send some of my soldiers to act as your guard, but I will order them to wait outside. If there is trouble, they will act immediately.

In Redcliffe Inn

*The Inquisitor enters with his/her companions and looks around, but immediately the patrons glare at them. He/she raises a hand, and the companions nod before heading back out again. The Inquisitor heads towards the counter, where a barmaid is wiping, giving him/her a small but tense smile*

BARMAID: You look a little tired, luv. Are you thirsty? We have some ale if you'd like.

INQUISITOR: Not right now, thank you.

BARMAID: You look like you've traveled a long way, dear. Did you encounter any wolves on the way here? There's so many of them in the road.

INQUISITOR: I have seen some wolves, but I'm looking for one who roams and fights alone.

*The barmaid blinks but smiles softly*

BARMAID: Upstairs, last room on the left, luv. She's been waiting for you.

INQUISITOR: "She"?

*The barmaid smiles mysteriously, and the Inquisitor leaves the counter and heads for the rooms upstairs. He/she knocks at the last door.

FEMALE VOICE: Come in.

*The Inquisitor opens the door to see a neat room, and a woman in a black cloak and hood on a chair, one hand under her chin, and the other twirling a dagger*

FEMALE VOICE: Hello, Inquisitor. It took you a while to get here. I saw you entering the inn, here by my window. At least your advisors are wary enough to follow orders.

INQUISITOR: Thank you for taking the time to meet with me.

FEMALE VOICE: I watched the goings-on of your Inquisition, they are doing good work. I admit, my adventures have made me witness many atrocities, but this thing happening now… it cannot be ignored. You're going to need as much help to defeat this evil. I can help you with that. *she shifts, putting the dagger into her boot and putting her hands together*. So, you wish to recruit me to your Inquisition, then? Funny, there was a time when I did the same. *removes her cloak, revealing herself to be Jenna Cousland-Theirin, Queen of Ferelden* Warden Commander Jenna Cousland-Theirin, at your service, Inquisitor.

INQUISITOR: *blinks in shock and bows down* Your Majesty!

COUSLAND: *waves a hand, and the Inquisitor stands again* Stop that. I am not wearing the crown right now. Outside of Denerim's Palace, I am just the Warden Commander. But Warden would suffice.

INQUISITOR: So it is you! You're the Dark Wolf.

COUSLAND: It was just a name I picked up during my time in Amaranthine. I am rather famous, you know. *laughs* I had to hide my identity for a time. Before now, I had my investigations to conduct, but I can't exactly do that when everybody knows who I am. Besides, if my people from the palace finds out, they'd have a fit.

INQUISITOR: But if you join the Inquisition, won't they find out?

COUSLAND: *raises a parchment roll* They would, but I was ordered by King Alistair himself to join you. He knows he must do something to help, Inquisitor, and he decided he should send me. Personally. There might be a political backlash because of this, but we don't care. This… Breach is much more important than any political bullcrap we'll get. *puts parchment away*

INQUISITOR: (What have you been doing?) Cassandra and the Seekers have been scouring Thedas for you. Where have you been all this time?

COUSLAND: Ah… the Seeker. Yes, I know they have been looking for me and the Champion of Kirkwall. Unknown to her, I have been watching her movements, and I decided to elude them as much as I can. I had an investigation of my own concerning the Wardens, and I cannot be detected by anyone, lest I put them in danger as well. But when I heard about the Breach, I had to return to Denerim to speak with Alistair. We argued a bit, but he understood the situation, and we thought it would be best if I was here to help.

INQUISITOR: (The Wardens) Do you know we have been investigating the Wardens? I've heard that they've disappeared.

COUSLAND: Yes, and that is the reason why I am worried. I sent some of my Ferelden Wardens to Weissaupt, but many Orlesian Wardens are gone. I do not like this at all. I will help to investigate them, Inquisitor. If there is danger concerning my men, then I will do my best to save them.

INQUISITOR: (Investigation) What were you investigating?

COUSLAND: It is a Grey Warden concern, not the Inquisitions. However, if my investigation shows that it is just as much as a danger to your group, then I will not hesitate to divulge the information to you. For now, it is private, and I am not at liberty to discuss it with you.

INQUISITOR: (What can you provide?) It has been ten years since the Blight. What can you provide the Inquisition that would be of help?

COUSLAND: If you think that I won't much of a help, then you shouldn't have looked for me, Inquisitor. *chuckles* I am still the Queen of Ferelden and Lady of Highever, and I have an in-depth knowledge of the Ferelden Court. One word from me, and you'll have the nobles bowing at your feet. I am also skilled rouge and poison expert, as your scouts and spies could agree with. As Commander of the Grey of the Ferelden Wardens, I can also help you approach them, answer your questions concerning our order or conscript soldiers if needed. *chuckles* I am also skilled in slaying dragons, as Leliana is sure to have told you.

INQUISITOR: (We don't need you.) I'm sorry but I don't think you could help us.

COUSLAND: Ah, I see. Sorry for wasting your resources then. Good luck with this Breach then, Inquisitor. You will not be hearing from me again.

INQUISITOR: (Yes. Please join us.) It would be an honor to have the Hero of Ferelden ally with the Inquisition, Warden Cousland.

COUSLAND: "Ally". Such a simple word. *stands* I thought I've saved the world ten years ago, but it seems it needs people like us to keep it at peace. I will not just 'ally' with you, Inquisitor. I will fight for you and your cause. I will meet you back at Skyhold. I did miss Leliana. It would be nice to chat with her again.
