Yu-Gi-Oh!
The Fall of Ra: The Miracle of Friendship
A/N: To recap the last chapter, Yugi has Dark Magician Girl on his side of the field and Joey has Gilford, the Lightning, Axe Raider and Rocket Warrior on his side of the field. Yugi suspects that Joey hasn't drawn the Winged Dragon of Ra and now needs to ensure that he doesn't play that or Obelisk.
Yugi was unsure how to act in the Duel. Even if he could summon Slifer, Joey could just summon Obelisk and become the victor of the Battle City Tournament.
If only he knew what his friend was thinking. As tempting as summoning either Egyptian God felt, Joey preferred to face Yugi without the influence of the divine trio if possible, but would make an attempt to revive Ra from the afterlife if it became necessary. He faced that golden nightmare twice, even though the first time was a counterfeit and the last time left him feel like he was getting burned alive by fire.
"I draw," he told Yugi, drawing a new card from his Deck. "I'll play the Magic Card Raigeki!"
"Urgh!" Yugi groaned as all his monsters were destroyed, leaving only Joey with his still present.
"And with that, I'll end my turn."
"That's strange," said Tea. "Why didn't he attack with his monsters and reduce his life points?"
"He probably wants to see how Yugi will come back from this," suggested Tristan.
But Yugi was unsure of how to make a comeback from this move.
"Come on, Yuge," Joey encouraged. "You've always been able to turn these situations around when they seem bleak."
"I draw," Yugi went, drawing a new card from his Deck; if anything, his chances of winning the Duel rested upon this card. Heart of the Cards…guide me.
He looked at the card he drew, and looked up at Joey.
"Are you ready?" He asked him, and played the card. "I play The Miracle of Friendship."
It was a Magic Card depicting two warriors on opposite sides walking away into a sunset, helping each other stay up as they sported injuries.
"The Miracle of Friendship?" Joey asked; he had never heard of this card before so he had no clue as to how it worked.
"This card is a last-ditch effort to win the Duel. At the cost of all but one-hundred of my Life Points, casting every monster from my Deck to the Graveyard, the field is wiped clean and we both summon a level seven or eight monster of our choosing and the monster with the highest attack strength decides the outcome of the Duel."
The field was wiped clean of Joey's monsters and he had no choice but to summon a new creature that was either level seven or eight with a high enough attack factor. The only problem he had right now was choosing the right monster to help him win the Duel. And he had no doubts that Yugi had monsters stronger than he did…but he wouldn't know for sure unless he summoned one of his own. All he really knew from what Yugi stated was the monster they chose was of their own volition, meaning it could be any monster, regardless of what was actually required to summon it.
"It can be any monster of those two levels?" Joey asked him. "It doesn't matter what's really required to summon them?"
"That's right," Yugi told him, holding his chosen card in his hand.
"Then I summon the only monster I have left to summon: Gearfried, the Swordmaster!"
On Joey's side of the field appeared his creature: It was a man without armor and only a sword, but looking fierce enough to take on an entire army of veteran soldiers.
"Bring it on, Yuge," he told his friend.
"Time to end this," Yugi responded, summoning his monster next.
On his side of the field appeared another Warrior-type monster, decked out in black armor with a sword and shield.
Somehow, I'd figure he had that card, thought Joey as he saw the Black Luster Soldier. I can't beat that card, no matter what I try.
The soldier whose power rivaled the Blue-Eyes White Dragon had three-thousand points with which to fight…while Gearfied had only twenty-six-hundred points; no matter how one viewed it, the swordmaster stood no chance of surviving. Then, Black Luster Soldier raised his sword up and leaped into the air.
SLASH! It cut through Gearfried's body and atomized him.
Then Black Luster Soldier disappeared from the field.
As per the effects of The Miracle of Friendship, the monster with the strongest attack factor decided the victor…and that was Yugi Moto.
"You did it, Yuge," Joey congratulated him. "You beat me."
Yugi approached him and extended his right hand.
"It was a great Duel, Joey," he responded.
"Yeah," Joey accepted his handshake, "it was a great Duel."
The fallen Duelist then returned Obelisk back to the current owner…along with the rarest card he had obtained, as per the Battle City requirements after losing a Duel. The Winged Dragon of Ra, so majestic, so powerful, so dangerous if ever found in the wrong hands. This was a card that Joey, despite all chance he had of beating, let alone surviving, wasn't really going to miss. He knew that Yugi was the better one suited for handling its immense strength.

"How cool was that?" Tea asked Tristan and Duke. "Even when they were fighting their hardest, they still remain friends."
"It probably would've been better if they had used their Egyptian God Cards," Duke suggested, "but I take the outcome however it plays out. Yes, it was a cool Duel."
"Joey tried his best to win the gold, but at the end of the day received the silver," Tristan uttered. "He went from an amateur to a skilled Duelist."

With the Battle City Tournament coming to a close in a few more hours and the defeat of the Rare Hunters and Marik's dark side, all the previous victims that were sent to the Shadow Realm were released, and those that participated within the tournament were beginning to go their separate ways.
"Thanks again, Joey," said Mai to the second-place contestant of Battle City. "You're bound to be much stronger if you keep at this."
"Thanks, Mai," he told her. "See you around sometime."
"You can count on that. Take care."
She then drove off, leaving the fellow Duelist feeling elated that his victory against Marik had set her free from the Shadow Realm…and that was what mattered a lot to him. That…and one other Duel that still needed to take place before Battle City was officially over because there was something he still needed to prove.

With the Egyptian God Cards safely tucked away in his Side Deck, Yugi walked down the street to where he was scheduled to meet Joey. He was looking forward to their last Duel of Battle City. This time, there was no need for the rarest of cards to fight over to save the world, just one card to see who would be the owner.
"Yo, Yuge," he heard Joey greet him further down the street. "You ready?"
"Totally. This is the last Duel of Battle City."
"I'm getting back my Red-Eyes."
"You will try."
"And I intend to win."
They activated their Duel Disks and drew their cards to prepare for their last Duel of the tournament. And the gauntlet was thrown, with their friends and Joey's sister watching them, cheering them on. Just another friendly Duel.
