I don't own Harry Potter

"Lets go we have Transfiguration with McGonagall and you know she'll have our skins if we're late."

"Yeah." Neville shuddered. "So want to tell me what that was a breakfast earlier?"

"Oh um later okay." Neville gave him a strange look.

"Okay." He shrugged as they hurried to class slipping into two seats near the back. Harry waved at the cat sitting on the desk causing Neville to crack up laughing.

"Hey Minnie" He whispered. Causing other students to stare at him. Just then Ron Weasley came rushing through the door gasping for air.

"I'm not late, I'm not." He huffed.

"Very Nearly. Mr. Weasley." In a flash McGonagall had gone from cat to human and caused on muggle born girl to fall from her chair in shock. "Take your seat." She pointed to an empty one next to the girl who Harry was sure was named Hermione Granger.

"Today we'll be trying to change match sticks into needles. There is to be no messing around in this class. Transfiguration can be one of the most dangerous magic's you learn at Hogwarts remember that. I won't hesitate to ban you from the classroom.

Harry snorted but tried to cover it.

"Do you have something to add Mr. Potter." She turned her sharp gaze on him.

"No." Harry shook his head, getting elbowed by Neville.

"That's what I thought." Her lips thinned as she walked towards the front of class.

"You have a death wish I swear." Neville muttered.

McGonagall placed match sticks in front of all the students and they all went to work to try and change them. Harry Got his half changed and Neville got maybe the tip pointy.

"Well Dad is going to be disappointed to know I didn't get his talent in transfiguration." He laughed shaking his head.

"That is a very good start Mr. Potter." McGonagall said looking down at the half transfigured match stick.

Just then a hand shot into the air. "I did it professor I changed my match." They all turned to look at Hermione Granger who was beaming down at her perfect little needle.

"Very good Miss Granger ten points to Gryffindor and another five to Mr. Potter for a partial transfiguration I want two feet by next class on the wand movement for this spell you are all dismissed.

"Two feet in our first class." Harry wined.

"Bet she'll write three." Neville nodded towards Hermione.

"Yeah probably." Harry agreed. Then they were off to Charms.

During that class nothing spectacular happened except for Flitwick almost falling off his pile of books when he came to Harry's name. "Lily's son." He squeaked. "I'm sure you'll be brilliant at Charms."

That turned out to patently false as he couldn't get his feather to float at all. "Guess you didn't get your mother's charms genes either."

"Oh I have plenty of charm I just can't make things float." Harry smirked causing Neville to roll his eyes. Soon they found themselves in the great hall ready for Lunch. Harry looked up at the head table locking eyes with Severus Snape. "Good thing we don't have his class until Friday." He grumbled. "I'm sure that will just be a joy.

He felt his pocket warm up and took out the partchment.

How were classes.

He smiled before responding.

Okay just telling Nev glad we don't have potions until Friday Snape is going to try to eat me alive we all know it.

Daphne snorted over at the Slytherin table.

"You're getting weird looks." Tracy Davis hissed. "Put that away before people start asking questions.

I'm sure it won't be so bad you have it with the Slytherin's have to go now talk to you later.

Harry rolled his eyes.

That makes it worse not better talk to you later. Tell Tracy I said Hi.

"What are you doing?" Neville asked as Harry shoved the parchment into his pocket.

"Ah yes that's what I need to talk to you about later."

"A weird piece of parchment you keep writing on have you went batty?"

"No." Harry snorted "I have not gone batty thank you very much and you're supposed to be my best friend I'm wounded."

"oh man here comes the ego. " Neville shoved him playfully they were done with classes for the day so they went towards the dorms. Harry Pulled Neville into an unused classroom shutting the door.

"Really." Neville crinkled his nose.

"Okay so here it is." Harry pulled the partchment out and showed him. See there is something you don't know about me but I'm friends best friends with Daphne Greengrass.

"The Slytherin?" Neville Questioned.

"Yes the Slytherin." Harry rolled his eyes.

"Wait isn't she the one who helped you after you attacked Draco during that ministry party a few years back.

"Yeah." Harry chuckled. "anyway her parents own the house across the lake from our manor and one day I found her on the land and we've been friends ever since. Of course my parents and Sirius and Remus know and she told her friend Tracy who shares a room with her."

"Wish we were only two to a room." Neville grumbled. "That Weasley really snores."

"Yeah." Harry laughed. "Anyway I know I can trust you not to tell my secret her parents can't know Neville it would be really bad for her.

"Of course not your secret is safe with me." Neville assured him. "Now lets get to the common room. I have some Bertie Botts in there and I could really use a few.

"You and your sweet tooth. "

"And just for that I'm not sharing with you."

"Hey no fair." Harry pouted as the two boys made their way to the tower.

"So Harry's telling Neville Longbottom. Or probably already told him." Daphne told Tracy later that night as they were both getting ready for bed.

"That pudgy boy that follows Potter everywhere."

"Yes." Daphne sighed rolling her eyes.

"Can he be trusted." she crinkled her nose.

"Of course Harry wouldn't tell someone if they couldn't be trusted.

"Okay if you say so." Tracy shrugged.

Daphne smiled as she went to sleep that night they'd made it through their first day of Hogwarts.
