Chapter 3 Meetings
Marco goes silent for a moment looking over at me. Blinking like my words were not computing. He turns to the other woman "She isn't serious is she ? Yoi" His voice calm but full of disbelief.
The woman nods solemnly. "She has complete amnesia. She doesn't even remember her own name."
Alright now that is more than slightly irritating. I am actually not curious but I need to know something about this place. I've got next to no information at the moment and this seems like a situation where everything I knew up to now would be rather useful.
I hear them still talking but I've given up listening in on it. I'm to annoyed to really say anything useful for my situation. If only I wasn't still injured. Maybe I should figure out how I look that would be useful knowledge.
I look over my body. My skin is light and pale. Not like Snow White it obviously is slightly tanned more like a beige colour at least what isn't covered in bandages. I move my blanket and look over my body. My legs and torso are decently long though again my legs are covered in bandages that look like they were freshly changed. My arms are not abnormally long but still look like I got a good reach length to work with. No T-Rex syndrome here. Wait what's a T-Rex? Oh well I'll worry about that later. My clothing looks to be a night gown silvery grey in colour with white patterns. My chest size not flat but definitely not huge. A good size for living with a decent figure and no back pain. I appear to be on the thin side but like if I worked on eating right and exercising I could put on some good muscle to actually do something with. Moving a hand to my neck I feel my hair and pull some forward. It's supper long like thigh length long and silver in colour. It's straight at least so something can be done to keep it out of the way. Now I can't see my face without some sort of reflective surface so that will have to wait.
Now let's see about my name. Thinking hard I get a vague sense of my name. It was a decently long name. I remember it began with L ! Ok now that's at least progress I can't force anything else to be remembered but I have that. If I end up not remembering I suppose I'll have to give myself a temporary name.
Moving the covers back I look up again only to see the conversation had been finished and Marco had left leaving me with the lady alone again. I decide to ask "Pardon me for not asking sooner but may I have your name ?"
She smiles. "Of course my name is Silvia. I'm one of the crew's nurses."
Hesitantly I ask " How long do I have to stay and rest ? I know you said at least a few days I'd be stuck here but surely I can get up sooner ?" My voice slightly pleading at this point I can feel my body becoming restless already. I don't mind being patient but after a week unconscious and resting my body feels the need to move more.
She sighs. "You are going to be as much trouble as the rest of the crew. I can tell already. You will have to stay in bed for at least another day or two preferably eating highly nutritious food. Then and only then will we be starting to test your limits. You were injured badly and starving and dehydrated when we found you. To be honest you should probably still be lying down now." Her voice is firm and holds a warning to it. She will not be changing her mind on this.
"Besides Head nurse Selma will be the one to make the decision when you are fit to be up and moving." She shrugs. So the decision isn't even hers to make. Damn it I want to be out of this bed already but I better listen I have no information really on where I am and what to do.
Just then the door bursts open. A man balancing dishes in his arms bumbles in trying to make sure nothing tips over. He hops on his one foot as he keeps moving forward to halt his advance toward the wall the dishes he is carrying all clattering but nothing is spilt. When he manages to stop turns to face Silvia and myself.
Jovially he animatedly walks towards us "I brought lunch !" His enthusiasm is difficult not to catch. I resist as I don't feel very comfortable being quite that happy. Silvia though seems happy enough to see him.
"Finally commander if you took any longer I thought I was going to have to come find you. I hope being late has nothing to do with any pranks hmm?" Her voice at the end very much suspicious.
" Who me ?" He is being overly dramatic in his tone, " You wound me madam I would never!"
She snorts "So you are up to something." Definitely not a question.
" In not so many words.." his voice trails of mischievously.
This must be the other commander Marco and Silvia where talking about earlier. I believe they said his name was Thatch. The only way I can tell is that they mentioned he was bringing food by when they were talking about him. He has a chef's outfit on with an ascot that is bright yellow contrasting the white of the rest of his clothes. Are those swords on his hips?! They look somewhat ornate. How I know is beyond me but I do I must have been around swords before. They look like they are one handed swords not overly long but long enough to do some real damage.
My stomach then proceeds to growl loudly interrupting the conversation and my thoughts making sure they come to a grinding halt as I feel myself flush a deep red hue. I realize just how hungry I am due to the scent of the food obviously in the dishes the man brought in. The saliva in my mouth continues to increase and I'm just swallowing it as discretely as possible as this situation is embarrassing enough as is.
The man who I believe to be called Thatch proceeds to chuckle and sets down the tray full of food on a nearby table.
"It's good to know this food will be appreciated." He began, "Now all of it is still hot so be careful not to burn your mouth with it. Alright?" He smiled definitely happy.
I nod as Silvia moves another table over that was used for those that couldn't get out of bed as I carefully sit up. He brought over some steaming broth and some bread.
"Try that first and if you can handle more we will get you some more." The jovial gentleman advised.
Taking his advice I carefully test the heat of the soup with a spoonful to my lips. Upon feeling it as too hot eat I gently blow on a spoonful a couple of times and test it again. Now it feels warm but not enough to burn I bring the spoon to my mouth and allow the soup to fall from the spoon and swallow the warmth soothing my throat even better than the water had earlier. I can feel the warmth easing the soreness away with its heat and continue to eat the broth sometimes dipping the bread which doesn't work as well as straight broth but it's great. I accidentally let a content smile grace my lips and sigh contently finishing the soup completely full.
"I'm glad you enjoyed my cooking." I look up and see this other commander smiling brightly at my reaction to the meal.
"It was delicious thank you very much for the meal." I dip my head slightly in thanks still smiling my voice isn't so hoarse now and the food put me in a great mood even after the embarrassment from earlier. I begin to space out as I think of a name to call myself until I can remember while all I remember of my name is the L I don't want to be stuck being known as a letter of the alphabet until I remember. I was never really that creative. I ponder my name as I stare at the empty bowl of soup disassociating from reality my thoughts are a blur as I think through names. I hear voices talking probably Silvia and the commander. Lucinda? No to weird of a name. Linda? No Linda sounds to prissy. Laura? Better but not quite right. Perhaps Lunarus? That name has a certain ring to it. I suppose it will do until I remember.
Suddenly I feel a had touch my shoulder and I jump slightly being brought out of my musings and look up to see the formerly jovial gentleman with tears pouring out of his eyes looking at me. He seemed to be dramatically upset and bumbling through words about how tragic my situation is I couldn't make out a whole lot of what he was saying. As he continued on his sobbing Silvia sighed clearly annoyed and holding her hand her hands.
Suddenly there was a loud bark outside the door and in comes this massive white dog excited and bouncing in. He comes up like a bull in a china shop and begins to sniff me all over causing me to giggle and laugh as apparently I am extremely ticklish as I try to get him to stop by pushing him away but it does basically nothing.
I hear Silvia angrily shouting "Stephan! Get out now you are not to be in here !"
As soon as the words are spoken the dog Stephan stops and trots out of the room seemingly content enough to listen as Silvia begins grumbling and cleaning up. That was a surprise I was not expecting that, that dog was massive! The commander is now busy laughing so hard he falls over. I begin to wonder how the hell I got in to a messed up place like this as I hear the the purposeful clicking of heels approaching the door. Someone new enter.
