DO NOT TEAR THIS!

Dear Julius,

I hope you're doing well. I've learnt how to write properly from Artemis as I thought that words would be the most effective way to remind you of such an incident, on such a date, that I'm sure you want to forget. With due respect, I understand that you may want to tear this letter right away, but I urge you, old friend, not to do so.

Last week, on Wednesday, you had needed some fifty bucks to pay someone and you did not have it. As a good friend I had lent you the money, and I swear on my beard that I meant it in friendship. However, I need my bucks urgently. Many a times you have hunted me, and I have escaped, and through all this our friendship has, in fact, grown. I hope you respond to my call urgently as otherwise the fairies will know soon that an LEP commander has accepted help from a criminal. There were many witnesses there and I would be unable to do anything about them.

I hope you understand that I lent you the money out of love, and it is out of love that I am writing this letter to you. I hope you are well in health and you make me well in wea… you know.

With lots of love,

Mulch Diggums

PS: This letter is strictly confidential. It records an event that is unknown to everyone, well apart from you and me, old friend. So I request you not to let anyone get it.

Julius Root turned a shade of beetroot when Holly looked up from the paper. Mulch was standing right beside her, shaking his head.

"You… are indebted? To him?" Holly asked in wonder and shock.

"Alas! With due respect, Commander, I had told you that I would be unable to stop the witnesses from spreading word. But you didn't pay heed. Wish you'd trust me more. Now, how to stop the witnesses from spreading the word?"

Ten minutes later Mulch Diggums was freely walking on the streets, without the fear of LEP. He had a bag with him.

There was nothing much inside it… apart from some hundred gold coins.

Some hundred gold coins as a gift from his friend, the Commander.

Please read and review. This is my first Artemis Fowl story.
