Agatha walked into the dining hall. She scanned the room for Penelope and stalked towards her with a smug smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.
"You owe me money! I was right!", she informed the other girl
"You mean-", Penelope started
"Yup! Simon and Baz are together, officially!"
"Well," Penelope sighed handing Agatha her money, "at least I don't have to watch them pine over each other from opposite ends of the class room anymore."
"No kidding. Now all you have to deal with is more of Baz's tongue than you'd ever wanted to see." Agatha said with an expression that was stuck somewhere between "aww those kids" and "dear god, the things I've seen-"
"Well, years of unrequited love will do that to you I guess," Penelope said staring at Agatha as she grabbed a dinner roll and bit half of it off in one enormous chomp. Agatha shrugged.
"Still wish they could keep it in their pants like the rest of us. They're starting to scare the first years. And me. It's verging on supernatural how they seem to be kissing in every empty classroom and library stack all at once. But who's going to tell off Simon Savior Snow?"
"Probably no one," Laughed Penelope, "Y'know I knew there was something there, but I kind of never pegged Simon for- I mean, y'know- the type."
"Come on, really? Do you think his hair's like that naturally? That takes some skill, and a lot more effort than any entirely straight man puts into his hair. Besides I knew it, and I'm never wrong about these things, I always know when someone is 'the type'"
"Always?" Penelope said arching an eyebrow
"It's a gift-"Agatha started but was cut off as Penelope pressed her lips into Agatha's. As Penelope pulled away Agatha tried to morph her face from its unfamiliarly shocked expression back to something normal. Not much surprised Agatha, this definitely had, but if this was surprise Agatha wished she felt it more often.
"So you always know huh?" said Penelope with the smug smirk that she had stolen off of Agatha's face. Agatha was trying to morph her face into some kind of smirk and think of a witty retort, but for once her brain failed her. It was stuck processing the fact that she had just been kissed full on the mouth by the prettiest girl she had ever met. Eventually Agatha settled for an extremely wide grin as she pulled Penelope into another kiss.
Across the room stood Simon and Baz.
"You owe me money, Snow,"
"Yeah, yeah," Simon smiled as he handed Baz his money, "you were right."
"I'm always right. Especially about these things."
"I know you are, Baz."
