Chapter 17-The Night Of Terror

Once they had gotten home, Kanan had Ezra pack his belonging. He then headed to his room to grab his belonging. Upon entering his room he headed to a main compartment that had his lightsaber and his holocron hidden safely inside. He stop for a brief moment as if he wasn't sure that he wanted to pull them out, sighing he then open the compartment. Seeing both his lightsaber and his holocron, he reached for the lightsaber when he stop. He thought about it, then decided to close the box back up. He didn't need his lightsaber, but he did hide the compartment in his bag, in a place that only he knew where to look. Kanan had gather all of his belonging now and exited out of his room where he found Ezra standing in front of the door, who look like he was about to knock on the door when Kanan open the door.

"Have you got everything packed up Ezra?" ask Kanan.

Ezra looked sad, but he nodded, "Hey look. We have to leave now. We can't stay here much longer." Kanan announce, as he was on his knees. He knew the look on Ezra's face, though he didn't want to leave either. They had to, it had gotten to dangerous for them to stay any longer.

Ezra looked back up at him, "Is there a reason why?" Ezra ask.

Kanan sighed, he knew very well keeping it from Ezra would only make for trouble, "I was attack today. And I had to use the force to get away." Kanan told Ezra, he could see the surprise on his face, "But I thought you said we can't use the force out in public?" Ezra ask.

"We can't, we shouldn't. But, at one point I did tell you to use it if you had to. Now I don't know if the person that attacked me today saw me using the force. But I can't risk it. That is why we are leaving." Kanan told Ezra.

"But do you know where we are going?" ask Ezra.

Kanan smiled a bit at Ezra, "No I don't. But we'll find a place to call home." Kanan told Ezra. "Come on, lets get going then." And soon, Kanan got back up to his feet and took Ezra hand. As they left the building, Kanan had a bad feeling, that they weren't alone.

Ezra looked up at Kanan, a bit scared at the look on Kanan's face, "What is it Kanan?" ask Ezra.

Kanan at first didn't reply, he just squeezed Ezra's tighter, "Let just keep going, and don't look back." Kanan told Ezra, Ezra nodded as they exited the place they once called home. As they kept walking, Kanan's free hand was on his blaster. He had it there in case he had to bring it out. He could feel the fear coming from Ezra, but Kanan could also feel that he was trying to hid it. He nodded in approval as he looked down, and saw that Ezra has his energy slingshot ready. Ezra knew something wasn't right, he also knew that following what Kanan was doing, was the best idea. Kanan and Ezra had made it to the road that would lead them to the space station when Kanan gotten that feeling again.

"Kanan?" ask Ezra, who was now scared. Kanan titled his head listening, his hand on his blaster. With a quick motion, he pulled his weapon out, turned taking aim, shooting at what seemed to be nothing, but thin air. Only that there was something there. What Kanan hit with his blaster was an assassin droid, it reappeared from it cloak and was finally shut down after Kanan had shot it. It fell to the ground as Ezra watch in horror as other droid uncloak.

"Ezra run!" order Kanan, as he started firing at the droid.

Ezra didn't want to leave Kanan, but when one of the droid took aim at him, Ezra move just in time to get out of the way of the shot. Kanan took aim at the droid and fired at it. Ezra started running and soon after that, Kanan followed afterward shooting a few more droids out of his way. That was when he heard it. The sound of jet packs flying through the air. Kanan looked up and spotted a few troopers flying in the air. Although these people were not mandolorions, nor stormtrooper. They were part of the group known as Red Skulls. They started shooting at Kanan as he dodge out of the way. In the confusion however. He had lost Ezra, Kanan could still feel him through the force, but his focus was now on these guys. He wanted to go out there to look for him, but he put his trust in Ezra, to find a safe place to hid.

Kanan fired at a couple of the gang members with his blaster. Noting that the two he shot at went down. Taking cover behind a few barrels, he knew that the rest of the gang were still out there. Ezra ran until he was away from the fighting. When he realize that Kanan wasn't behind him anymore. He stop and turn around. He couldn't leave Kanan not like this. The fear came back to him of losing Kanan, just like how he had lost his parents. Suddenly, Ezra felt something through the force. He felt someone was behind him. Ezra ready his energy sling shot, turn around and fired. The shot hit the person behind him as he could hear her scream for a little bit before falling unconscious. Ezra smiled at the thought that he was able to get in a very good shot without missing and wanted to tell Kanan when he remember that Kanan was still back there, still fighting.

Though he shook with both fear and an adrenaline rush,"I have to go help Kanan;" he stood still for a moment deciding on what to do, "But he told me to go hid. What should I do?" Ezra ask himself, as he looked around, his eyes landed on the fallen Red Skull blaster. Her hand was still resting on it, Ezra shook himself, "No, I can't lose Kanan, I don't want to. Not again." he stated, as he picked up the blaster from the fallen Red Skull. He noted that the weapon was a little heavy for him, but he would have to get use to it right away if he wanted to go help Kanan. He turn and ran off, away from the down Red Skull and headed back toward the fighting. Unaware that he was being followed. Kanan shot one of the assassin droids in the head as a couple more shot were fired at him. Kanan had notice a couple of normal people had run off in fear, or perhaps some of them went to notify the stormtroopers. Kanan had a close eye on one of the Red Skull trooper. Kanan turn from his hiding stop and fired off his blaster. His shot did hit the Red Skull trooper, but his blaster fire off a shot and that hit Kanan in the shoulder. Kanan had drop his blaster, hid behind the rumble with a hand on his shoulder. Kanan check his injured shoulder and notice that the blast fire went completely through his shoulder. He could feel that his shoulder was fracture and it hurt to move it. Kanan wasn't aware of the upcoming danger coming his way. And when he did notice, he thought it was too late. Until a shot was fired and hit the Red Skull in the back. With a short yelp, the trooper fell to the ground dead as Kanan slowly climbed out from his hiding spot, to see who had fired the shot. Saving him.

"EZRA!" Shouted Kanan, as he saw that it was Ezra who fired the shot. He run toward Kanan as a couple of shot were fired at him. An assassin Droid was right behind Ezra and took aim at Ezra. Kanan quickly grabbed his blaster and pointed toward the robot.

"EZRA GET DOWN!" Order Kanan and just like that, Ezra drop to the ground as Kanan fired off his blaster and hitting the droid. Ezra look up and saw the droid falling to the ground. Ezra then turn back toward Kanan, got back to his feet and ran toward Kanan.

"What the booming blazes you think your doing back here!" growled Kanan, as he fired at one of the Red Skull.

"I didn't want to leave you behind. I wanted to help." Ezra told Kanan, but Kanan had place a hand on Ezra's head, pushing him down just a bit so that he wouldn't get hit by a blaster shot. "And beside, I shot down a Red Skull member all by myself." Ezra added, very pound of himself, but he wasn't paying attention to his surrounding. A Red Skull trooper was coming right behind Ezra when Kanan fired at him. Ezra was surprise as he turn to see the fallen trooper. Then Ezra turn his attention back toward Kanan, who wasn't very happy.

"If you want to help, pay attention and focus. Or else..."Kanan was interrupted when he saw a grenade had landed in front of him and Ezra. Before Ezra could say anything, he saw Kanan grabbed him and ran away from the bomb before it went off. Sending both of them fly through the air. Kanan landed hard on his back to make sure Ezra didn't get hurt. He turn to have Ezra rest on the ground and have whatever debris hitting Kanan. Kanan grunted as he felt like his rib was crack from the fall. He already had lost his blaster in the fight and he knew that they were defeated at the moment. Kanan knew that they were coming their way and there was no time to hid, except for Ezra.

Grunting a bit he looked over at Ezra "Ezra go and hid and this time. I'll be right behind you." Kanan order Ezra.

"But..." Ezra stated, but he knew there was no auguring this time. Ezra turn and ran off, not looking back. Kanan watch as Ezra disappear, but he turn back toward the other. He was surrounded. That was when heard the familiar voice, "And I thought you would put up more of a fight Kanan." Said Sylas, as Kanan watch him coming from behind one of his men and walking in front of Kanan.

"So this is where you've been hiding for the pass two years. On this pathetic place that you call a planted?" he growled.

Kanan looked down and saw that Ezra had left his blaster, but Kanan wasn't able to get it. Sylas was standing over it, but he didn't realize he was standing over it. Kanan wanted to grab out his lightsaber and slash Sylas, but his bag was sitting somewhere back near the old abandon canteen.

"Now then..." began Sylas, as he knelt down to Kanan and they both stared at each other. Kanan felt like an awkward moment, didn't know if Sylas was going to speak or what.

"So who's talk first, because if you don't speak then this will prolong this awkward moment." began Kanan.

"Don't you ever shut up?" ask Sylas.

"Well if I did shut up, there wouldn't be any striking moment of talk now would there." Kanan began, but he suddenly found the knife that Sylas had up close to his throat.

"Now, where is that boy?" ask Sylas, Kanan thought for this moment, he was seeing a yellowish red color in his eyes. Kanan had this bad feeling. Something strange in the force. "What boy. If you mean me, I will punch in the place that hurt the most." Kanan told him. Kanan wanted to get to this blaster at this moment.

"Oh you know what I'm talking about, one of my men saw him here just a few minute ago. Now I won't ask again. Where is he?!" growled Sylas.

Kanan was running out of time. Ezra peeked out from his hiding spot, hoping to see Kanan. He wasn't coming.

"Where is he?" ask Ezra, still waiting for Kanan. "He's suppose to be right behind me."

Ezra waited to see if Kanan was coming, but he wasn't. Ezra started feeling tears starting to roll down his cheek. He didn't want to lose Kanan. Like he did with his parents. That was when he felt something through the force. Ezra looked behind him to see who was there. But there wasn't anyone around. He thought at first it was Kanan, but this energy that he was feeling, wasn't him. Some where in the distance, that wasn't far from Ezra, was one of the Red Skull. She was looking down at Ezra. Then she took off. Ezra heard the sound and was trying to pin point it. He looked around to find his target. Ezra knew he had left his blaster back with Kanan and the only weapon he had was his energy slingshot. The Red Skull was now standing behind him as she raise her blaster. Ezra remember what Kanan had told him once. He started to listen to the force. As the Red Skull raise her blaster, Ezra felt through the force the warning sign of the blaster aiming toward him. Ezra hand was on his energy slingshot as he turn around in time and shot at the Red Skull. The stun from energy shot stun her, but it didn't stop her. As she took up to the air again with her jet pack as she was heading down toward Ezra. Ezra knew that it was time to go as he turn and run off. He knew that this Red Skull was behind him and he needed to lose her and find another hiding spot. Ezra was trying to lose this Red Skull so he needed to find a place to hid. Ezra saw a hiding and took a sliding drive toward it. The Red Skull landed on the ground and started walking to look for Ezra.

"Come on out kid. There's no where to run any more. Even if you manage to escape again, we will always find you." began the Red Skull.

Ezra remain in his hiding spot as he watch the Red Skull looking for him. She fired off her blaster in an area that he wasn't in. Ezra made sure he wasn't seen, but he also protected himself from any shards that was blown up.

"Kid, I'm not gonna ask again to surrender yourself to me. If you want to see Kanan again, you will show yourself." She announce again.

The thought of losing Kanan, was something of a horror. The member of the death of his parents came, then the nightmare reminded him. Ezra didn't want to lose Kanan, he didn't want it happening. He didn't want his nightmare to come true.

"Kid if, you don't come out, I will kill Kanan and make you watch him bleed. " he could hear her growled.

Ezra felt scared, hearing her saying that made him frighten. But something new came, something new he was feeling. He was feeling angry. He was angry at the Empire for taking his family, he was angry at the people of Lothal for not helping him, and he was angry, at this Red Skull. He wasn't going to let anything happen to Kanan, he wasn't going to hurt him. He could feel a general energy of the force flowing through him as things around him were floating. The Red Skull notice and saw objected around her floating. She turn to see the kid she was looking for, but she also notice that he was piss. He had stuff floating around him, she could feel it. She raise her blast toward him, but Ezra had push his arm outward, pushing her away. She flew through the air before she landed on the ground. She had already dropped her blaster just before she landed on the ground. Her helmet fell off, reveling who she was. Ezra rush up to the blaster and picked it up and ran up to the Red Skull. He soon reach her and aimed his blaster at her. She was already sitting up with a knife in her hand, she was a human, and she was ready to throw it at Ezra, but Ezra shot at her. Which the blast hit her hand. Ezra fired again and the blast hit her shoulder, sending her back down. Ezra reach her and aimed his blast right at her head.

"WAIT!" She cried, as Ezra stop before he fired off his blaster.

"I can see that you are excellent with a blaster. And you are powerful with some magical power. Kanan really taught ya." She stated.

Ezra was a bit confuse. "Yeah so?" ask Ezra.

"Well..." she began, as she started talking with Ezra, she was secretly pulling something out that Ezra didn't know about. "I was going to offer you a spot on our team. You could use more experience in learning on how to use your blaster. And We could use those powers that you have." she stated, as she saw Ezra's blaster lower a bit, but not to much, "Well that sound like a good idea, but Kanan took me in when no one else will. And he teach me stuff. So why would I go with people like you?" ask Ezra, titling his head regarding her for a moment.

"I'll make sure Kanan won't get hurt. I'll even talk Sylas into not hurting him. Or you." she told Ezra, and she saw the look on his face. He was pondering on it. While she had gotten a hold of her extra knife.

Finally, Ezra made his decision, "I won't go with you. Kanan is my daddy and I will stay with him. Not people like you." He told her, as he raise his blaster up to aim back at her.

He saw her shaking her head in disappointment. "What a shame. We've could have use you and your...daddy." Once she said that, Ezra was starting to get a bad feeling. "Now both of you will DIE!" She shouted, as she brought out the knife and before anyone of them could blink, she threw the knife, which causes Ezra to fire off his blaster. The knife went right into his left shoulder and with that pain, the blaster went off. Ezra could hear a scream of pain, but he thought it was his own as he drop the blaster and pulled out the knife from his shoulder. That was another wound to add to the shoulder. His hand was already on his shoulder to try to stop the bleeding. Then he look back at the Red Skull woman, she was laying on the floor not moving. He walk closer, but he was cautious. She could get up and try to kill him. But what he saw, he knew she wasn't going to get back up. Ezra's blaster mark had hit her right in the forehead. Killing her right then in there. This was the first time Ezra had killed anyone, and it's freak him out. The thought about losing Kanan came when he felt pain. And it wasn't him. He turn to face where he believe Kanan is. He couldn't live to see that man that he called Daddy die. He look back at the woman that he had killed.

"I didn't want to." He told her, which she wasn't going to replied. Ezra turn and picked up the blaster that he had drop.

"I'm sorry Kanan, but I can't let them take you away. Like the Empire had took my parents." He stated, as he started running in the direction of where the commotion is. Unknowing to him, stormtroopers were coming in that direction as well, to investigate.
