Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto. If I did, Sasuke and Sakura wouldn't have had a daughter named Salad.

Authoress' Note: This story was originally published April 9th, 2008. As part of my current project, I'm updating many of my previous stories. Namely for grammar, but also to make them a little easier to read or updating plot holes that were previously unfilled. So please enjoy!

Blanket

Sasuke didn't want to admit it, but he was cold. He was very cold. And it sucked; strike that, it really sucked.

Then again, this was probably his punishment for not coming prepared for the chilly weather that was predicted for their mission. Even though they were in an area with trees trying to block most of the wind, it still wasn't enough to keep the chill from settling in around the sleeping Team Seven. However, everyone else had something to keep them warm: a jacket, a blanket, a sleeping bag, something.

Sasuke, on the other hand, had the clothes on his back: his everyday clan shirt and shorts.

With a little groan he turned around, bringing his arms inside of his shirt in a lukewarm attempt to keep in some body heat. A small gust wind blew past them and he groaned again. 'Stupid freaking cold,' he thought with some grimace as he turned around yet again, 'I should've grabbed a heavy coat or a blanket or something. Even that idiot Naruto remembered one; now what does that say about me?'

"Sasuke-kun?"

His eyes opened slightly to see Sakura looking at him, emerald eyes tired but concerned. "Are you okay? You've been groaning and turning a lot in your sleep," she said quietly, trying her best not to wake up her fellow teammates.

Sasuke sighed, "It's cold."

"I agree with that...is that why you have your arms stuck inside your shirt?"

"...Yeah. Can't believe that for once I'm the idiot."

Sakura frowned for the moment; she never liked hearing her precious Sasuke beating himself down over anything, even though it could've been justified. However, then she smiled and began to crawl over to her teammate, holding the blanket she was using in her hands. He arched an eyebrow at her movements, watching as she draped the blanket over him.

"Hopefully that helps you keep warm."

"Aren't you going to be cold then?"

Sakura shook her head, motioning to the jacket she was wearing, "I got my heavy jacket. I'll be fine. You need the blanket more than I do right now."

With a yawn she laid back down on the grass, hands beneath the side of her face and her eyes closed, "Good night Sasuke-kun. Sleep well."

"Night," he muttered, pulling one arm out from his shirt to bring the blanket up closer to him.

'It's warm...it's pink and it smells like lavender, but it's warm. Thank you Sakura...'

And within a few minutes Sasuke found himself sound asleep, the chilly wind no longer bothering him as it once was.
