Author Note: Back again. I'm writing some of my own works, plus a couple of other fan fics for other series (mainly Fate/ universe and Akatsuki no Yona). Alas, putting this one down seems harder than normal. Nice escape to write simple things? Perhaps- though I totally blame Tumblr. I sort of rely on the community to update me on whatever remotely shippy things happen in Boruto since….I'm not watching or reading it. *gasp* Still, that bench scene with their first date put a real wrench into my writing timeline. So while I attempt to figure out how to work that scene into this story- AND I WILL(Because I'm a stickler for timelines and accuracy- don't judge me), I did some angry writing blurbs. Well half angry, half spazzing. Simple things, right? And with that- a chapter on one of the hardest things ever- trying to get a wiggle in the sheets at the parentals house. Have fun!
Disclaimer: Yeah, still dont own Naruto. And I don't own Boruto either….though I'm appreciating the shippy scenes we do get.
I exited into the room a moment later, dressed in a t-shirt and my not so cute- but not terrible either- plain black pair of underwear. I conveniently 'forgot' the pants in the bathroom, mostly because he made that annoying comment about already seeing me naked, but also because I was trying to be confident…..and maybe lead him on with some ideas. I told myself it was more the later reason than the first. It helped with the confidence, you see.
He was sitting at my desk looking pleasantly bored. Part of me was a tad insulted he didn't take the time to rifle through my effects. Was this a sign that I was finally reaching stable girlfriend achievement? When we first were together, or when I was younger, I would have kicked him out of my room in an instant in sheer mortification at what he 'might' find. Seeing him now, something told me he wouldn't have been much different then in his lack of interest in snooping. Some ninja….
One onyx eye raised to meet me with acknowledgment- though no sign of interest or appreciation. Maybe the shirt was too long? I twisted slightly and went to sit on the bed, rubbing my hair with a towel and purposefully leaving my legs uncrossed- though I didn't quite muster the bravery to part them even slightly.
"What were your plans for the day?" He asked casually.
"I er….actually didn't have any. " I lied. Would Ino forgive me a second time for bailing on her? Probably not. "Just dress shopping with Ino later, for her wedding…" I added hastily. Damn.
Strike one- plans for later means no chance that Sasuke would want to fool around now.
"Ah" He said quietly, but didn't stand to go or make any motion that proved he was concerned about his own engagements. STILL IN THE GAME! Mentally the confidence and the ideas began to spring forth in my brain dangerously.
"What brings you back to Konoha so quickly? You were supposed to be gone for a long time right?" I asked, trying to fuel conversation and give myself time for my brain to scheme.
"It's not important, you packed a bag" He answered in stead, his eyes drifting to my luggage in the corner.
"Well yah...I promised once I passed the field surgeon exam that I'd come join you…" I trailed off not sure if this was the case anymore. One frustrating thing about Sasuke- he kept his own schedule and had his own idea on how things ran- or didn't run in some cases. My joining him had been a source of conflict on numerous occasions, both because I did or because I didn't. It was all really confusing and sometimes I wished he'd give me a straight answer. But as I seemed to get a different answer every time I ruled that out as the impossible.
"Ah" He said again, carefully closing his eyes and leaning into his hand. He was tired. Strike two as to why my growing ideas were dying before fruition. Maybe I was too over zellas.
"Aren't you going to put on pants?" He asked then- rather suddenly. HE NOTICED- although where in the heck was this conversation going? Really, my head was doing circles. Still, I took the confidence and let the ideas begin to dance further into delicious deviousness.
Well as devious as my mind would go- which ironically wasn't as deep and dark as some people might chance to think.
"Thought you said you've seen me naked" I smiled at him softly with a blush- yes, play coy. It has to work. Though the confidence was dying with every word. I was, nor would I ever be, a temptress.
"I have...the rest of Konoha shouldn't have. Unless there is something you're not telling me" He raised a brow, looking over at me now and seeming to come to attention. I wasn't completely clear on whether the look was one of returned coy behavior or actual curiosity. I crossed my arms protectively as if covering up my chest from his gaze. He was annoyingly quick…
"They haven't. Yes alright I was going to put on pants. Happy?" I blurted out in a frustrated try. Strike three- definitely not getting laid today. Damn. It.
"Was?" Ohhhh and the ball swings back into my court! His voice came out silky, and slightly reminiscent of a snake. I felt the hair on my arm rise and my cheeks run hot. So he'd noticed…..and he'd seen right through me. The problem was, what to do with this proverbial ball now that I held it. Confidence slipping away in my abundant shyness, I let out a sigh.
"Well...er….now you're here so….." Word garble- and it was bad. I tried to will my legs to open teasingly, but half my brain exclaimed how stupid that would look so I quickly lost me resolve. Could I run this strike home?
"Damnit stop staring at me" Had I just said that outloud? Sighing harshly I took the annoyance as a wave and decided to ride it. "I won't be going anywhere if you keep doing that". To my complete astonishment, he closed his eyes. Though whether he was being coy or taking me literally was once again an illusive definitive.
"Don't actually close your eyes" waving my hands frantically I walked over and touched his face. Instantly, the high curved (albeit slightly stubbly skin- that would need a shave) skin of his cheeks in my hands made memories flood back. It wasn't just a memory of pillows and other soft things- but the actual flesh of a man in front of me. Once again, my cheeks went red hot- but this wave was carrying me.
"Sakura…..your parents are home"
You're out of there! The final blow rang in my head and my hands slumped into my lap. He was right, I'd completely forgotten. How could I ever even think of intimate moments when my nosey mother and overly optimistic father were just floors beneath us, probably already listening in and thinking my two hour rendezvous with a shower involved a lot more than sleeping.
"Can you be quiet?" He asked, his lips twerking at the ends in what could easily be the beginning formations of a smile.
"If I'm not I have pillows" I replied calmly enough, elation sky rocketing through me like a rock from a sling shot. Parents be damned, I was in my twenties anyway- and….and….I'd figure that out when we got there. Slowly, I rose and moved aside his cloak, going to sit on his lap when he paused me. "You're chair is louder than a herd of elephants" He muttered at me as if I was stupid. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. "Fine, do you have a better idea?" I was too happy to get truly upset by the comment. He seemed resolved to give this a shot too- distance does make the heart grow fonder…..or something harder.
"Yeah, the bed" He pointed dumbly at it, and then I rolled my eyes again. "Yes- fine, I was thinking we could move there...right….creativity" I tried to improvise, but he only scoffed at me as he stood- his one hand grabbing the chair to keep it from squeaking as he rose. "We're shinobi- we can be creative….we know how to be quiet- cast a genjutsu or something" I began to pout, my mind racing. This was likely to be less steamy than I'd hoped as I remembered both of our lack of experience in the subject.
He laughed then, a sound so musical my knees felt weak. Why did his laugh always hit me like a spike to the gut- impaling me into a mess of tangled giddiness and a dangerous need to cry.
Turning, he kissed me then and everything else fell away. I wasn't sure how long his tongue had been roaming over mine in that standing position- but just as I worked up the courage to jump up despite his missing arm and curl my legs around his hips a solid knocking sound broke the euphoria with a snap. In the next instant Sasuke was back in the chair and I was at the bed, hiding my bare legs from view with one pillow and throwing the next.
"GEEZ WAIT TILL YOU GET PERMISSION!" I yelled at my dad who got a mouthful of pink cotton fabric as he began to speak. "Just checking, darling. You know, your mother and I thought Sasuke-kun might like some tea after his journey and snack. We have them downstairs for you two. We got your favorite strawberry ice cream too…" He grinned from ear to ear.
I swear I heard the sound of the end game buzzer in the back of my brain….
Ooo000oooo000ooo0000ooo0000ooo000ooo000ooo000ooo00oo00oooo
Snacks turned into dinner- and thank the heavens they cooked at home. If they'd gone out to eat, Sakura would have not only died at the mortification of putting Sasuke into that situation, but also because they'd simply never make it home. Also, Sasuke would probably go to his own lodgings for the night and that simply would not do.
Sasuke, to his credit, was an amazing sport about it. To her parents credit, they didn't once bring up his long time revenge mission, killing his brother, the constant flip flopping of sides, the attempt to kill his best friend and their third teammate- three times depending on how you counted it, or his current self discovery mission that took him away for months at a time. Bless her stars, they also managed to keep away from bringing up their relationship for the most part.
"I'm sorry Ino, I know I said I would go dress shopping with you today…..it's just…..I can't pull him away" Sakura whispered into the phone. "I'm worried what they'll say if I leave them alone with him too long….."
"And you're not worried what he might say?" Her best friend's voice rang on the other side of the receiver.
"No not really, he's spent most of this time staying rather silent and only answering yes or no questions. Actually it's quite awkward- though my parents haven't seemed to catch on…." Thinking on it, Sasuke was actually being kind of ...shy…..which might be read a little rude. Luckily he answered just enough to sound interested.
"Well, it can't be helped…" Ino breathed her sigh into the phone dramatically.
"Thanks Ino, I owe you-"
"Yes you do, forhead! You do a lot.." She mouthed back defiantly. "And for that I have just the thing…" The grin was obvious in her voice.
"Thing? What Thing? Hey Ino-PIG!" She screamed into the receiver but the definite click had dashed any hope of her knowing what might be on her friends mind. Sulking back to the table, the conversation had turned into Sakura's school days.
"She used to write your name in her book over and over again! I think I have it here…" Her mother was saying. Sasuke for his part looked like he'd rather be off on his travels right now.
"He knows mom…." She sighed and sat down next to Sasuke who gave her a sideways glance. Did he not know? How could he not?
When his look was reciprocated on her parents faces she knew she'd said something weird. "What?!"
"It's just...dear….usually you would be telling me to burn to book and don't ever think about pulling it out again….." Her coy smile had gone soft and warm, and Sakura blinked, suddenly much more fearful of where his might be going.
Sasuke who had been struggling in his seat for the better part of three hours, looked about ready to burst into a million pieces. Sakura took his hand under the table and gently folded their fingers together- giving him some support. She'd find a way out for him soon. But even he looked at her with curiosity. He too had thought she would be upset about her mother's clear invasion of her privacy.
"So….you're grown up aren't you?" Her mother didn't say it to be teasing. In fact, it was more of an observation and a bitter sweet one. Sakura, for her part, suddenly felt like crying. Rolling her lips she shrugged, not sure how to respond to that comment...she figured a shrug was vague enough.
"Take care of her Sasuke-kun" Her mother turned to him. Though no response appeared clear on his face as he stared at her directly and nodded with a serious disposition- his hand clenched Sakura's in a clear visual of emotion. "She doesn't need my protection Mrs. Haruno…...She is strong all on her own." He replied gently and Sakura really did feel the sting of tears in her eyes. She also felt like dragging him back upstairs and taking another stab at that game right about now. The two emotions were head and head, so her real reaction was just to stare at him blankly.
A loud laugh emitted from Mr. Haruno's lips and he leaned back in his chair with glee. "Ah! See my love- he's known our Sakura way too long now. He's totally right, she doesn't need anybody- and he'll know she'll teach him so. Sasuke-kun, you come over anytime, we've got lots of food and treats for you- and don't worry, we'll leave out the tomatoes."
"DADDD!" Sakura yelled, suddenly feeling embarrassed now, "He likes tomatoes not dislikes them- get it right! Sheesh"
"Sorry sorry- my bad!" Her dad laughed even louder, currently very amused.
"Oh SAKURA~ oh hello Mr. & Mrs. Haruno am I interrupting?!" Ino called from the door- her voice thick with ill intention. Sakura shivered darkly, turning to the door with dread. She must of run over here with how little time had passed since she'd hung up the phone- and Konoha wasn't small anymore.
"Ino-pig what are you doing here?!" She growled.
"You said Sasuke-kun was back and over at your house- I knew you had to be lying so I came to check. Turns out you were telling the truth...Hello Sasuke-kun" She said, taking off her shoes and walking up behind the group at the table.
Sasuke gave her a sideways glance and curt nod, but it was clear he shared Sakura's annoyance. Though it was clearly mixed with the relief- now they would focus on her and not him. He could only hope- he was still looking for an escape route as well.
"Oh Ino-chan, please sit and help yourself- there is plenty….ooooooh let's have a look at that ring, my dear!" Sakura's mother leaned over the table at Ino as she took a seat beside her and held out her hand eagerly.
Sakura felt dread enter her all over again. Her eyes went to look at Sasuke who she found staring right at her. Waving her hands frantically, she silently tried to convey that she didn't plan this and no there was not an ulterior motive to inviting Ino here. But his gaze didn't waver and she blinked in confusion. His eyes darted to the stairs, then back to her. Escape.
She nodded as conversation began to pick up and both parents leaned over to look closer at the ring.
"Sai is doing well for himself isn't he- ah he snagged a real treat with you Ino-chan" Her mother beamed, gushing over the ring happily.
"Woah! Very nice indeed!" Her dad sat back trying to come up with some clever poetry to describe the ring.
Meanwhile, Sasuke had scooted out his chair and made towards the restroom before veering towards the stairs. Sakura, waiting till he had passed a bit, tried to move from her chair as well.
"And just where do you two think you're going?" Ino said with a mischievous grin. "Oh Sasuke-kun….you simply have to walk me home later….right Sakura?"
The couple on the stairs just stared at her in utter betrayal but moved back to the table. Sasuke, however, didn't retake his seat. "It's been a pleasure, but I must be heading out" He said as politely as he could muster.
"But I just got here" Ino said with a smug smile.
Sasuke wasn't biting. He stared at her, despite the curious gaze on him by Sakura's parents. Sighing, Ino knew when to give up. He'd been coy and appeasing enough for one day and this was already far beyond the reaches of his comfort zone. He didn't mix with parents, didn't do idle prattle, and certainly wasn't one to display affection readily- especially when it was at risk of becoming public. Unfortunately for him, no one had missed the way he and Sakura looked at each other, and he hadn't been able to get of easily at all. Unlike Sakura, he had wished they'd gone out- at least then he'd have an easier time of escape.
"Fine, fine….I'll come by later to chat Mrs. Haruno- we'll have tea!" She beamed, standing and looping an arm into Sasukes. Sakura zoomed out of her seat in heated fury. "INOOOO" She growled.
"Adieu!" Ino teased heading for the door with Sasuke in tow- who looked about ready to destroy the house. A slam of the door and Sakura felt her heart sink….there it was again, the buzzer - the game was over.
"Ah Sasuke-kun is very sweet" Mrs. Haruno smiled. "Sakura- you should bring him over more…."
"You're lucky if he ever comes back to Konoha again" Sakura said, her head slumping onto the table in defeat. Luckily this game required no amiable handshaking.
ooo000ooo000ooo0000ooo000ooo000ooo0000oooo00ooo000oooo
"What would you consider your first date with Sakura to be?" Ino asked, her eyes gazing at him curiously. The eyes he didn't mind- it was the death grip on his arm- he only had one left. He tried to remain silent, yes- silence was best.
"Well?" She raised a brow, her blonde hair falling classically over her other eye. Sasuke snorted and looked away, keeping his eyes on the road. "The bench by the sea"
"The bench by the sea?!" Ino asked curiously.
"You don't need to be walked home…." He pointed out grumpily.
"Don't be that way Sasuke-kun….in a couple months I'll be married and off the market. You only get one night with me…let's make it count" She grinned, the mischief oozing out in sparkles and sunshine. Sasuke might just puke. Instead, he sighed again and looked the complete opposite direction of her.
"I don't want one night with you- or any number of nights with you" He pointed out dumbly.
"No…. then why are you home so soon? Is it because…." She paused in her steps and looked up at him seriously. "You love my best friend?" Her eyes watched him, looking for anything that might betray him. She knew Sasuke wasn't the type of person to love lightly….but she had to know...had to know he wasn't just doing this to make Sakura happy. Sakura deserved a man who loved her in return.
Moving past her to keep walking, he only paused when he realized she wasn't budging on this question either. He turned to face her, his eye on her directly- meeting her gaze without hesitation. He didn't need to endorse her fears with a reply- words could be misconstrued, and she was allowed to believe whatever she wanted. He didn't ask, nor need her approval. It was enough of a chore proving to Sakura he loved her….let alone her friends. Then again, perhaps it wasn't a chore at all…
His eyes left her gaze to the Sakura tree, now gaining some pink blooms in the early months of spring. "Hn…." He stared at one in particular, a small and pale bud- leagues behind the others...but still there….
Satisfied with his silent answer she walked up to meet him again, closing her eyes in thought.
"So? The bench by the sea?" She asked again.
He gave her a cold look that said it was simply none of her business- by which she was hardly discouraged. He was referring of course, to the time she had intercepted his travels- mostly because he'd let her. It had been a short time after the waterfall incident, and the event itself had lasted no more than five minutes...perhaps half that. It was the first time in Sasuke's mind that he'd admitted he wanted to spend more time with her.
"Well then….there is this tiny surprise party for her- you have to-...ah...huh?" Ino, who had walked ahead for a split second, looked up in surprise.
Sasuke was gone.
"Geez, he better show!" Ino grumbled, her hands on her hips. Any aggravation she has for him never really did bubble in his physical presence. Still, she'd bet there would be an exception if he ditched out.
Ooo00ooo000ooo000ooo000oo000ooo000oooo000oooo0ooo000o00oooo000oo0oo
Officially pouting, Sakura lay on her bed kicking the surface of her cushions with a gentle but violent rhythm. The valiant attempt to distract herself with doctor notes had failed and she was left wanting to sneak out of the house. Well, why couldn't she? She was an adult and perfectly able to walk out the front door. The problem was- either way her parents would know exactly where she was going. How could she live with that humiliation? They weren't married yet, of course her parents would care about that. She was happy they hadn't found out about the first time.
The first time…
His onyx eye had stared at her gently as the rain began to pound the outer window. The sound was drowning out her own heart beat. She tried to speak calmly, tried to act like this was normal and fine. Like she wasn't nervous. She feared the moment might slip passed if she didn't take it. Moving in for one kiss, than another.
"Ow" it was out so fast she couldn't even gasp to hide it.
"I'm sorry" He immediately replied, pausing as he sat back to look at her.
Sakura felt her heart sink, but yet still racing. She loved him so much, her heart ached with it as it always did. Only in this moment she was sure it would break into a million pieces- and all because she was happy, go figure.
"No- it's fine" She shook her head. "It's just….your sword" She pointed to the weapon which was half imbedded between her and the mattress below. He blinked then sighed. "Ah." He took it and moved it gently to the side, sitting back to look at her.
"Not the one I currently want implanted in my back" She added, trying to lighten the air. They had just been fighting after all.
"What?" Sasuke replied in a tone that could either be confusion at her statement or shock at her bold and rather perverted statement.
"I'm sorry!" She added quickly, opting that it was probably the later since he was hardly a fool. She was right. He let out a soft sigh.
"You're quite perverted aren't you?" He muttered as though this might be a hinderance. This could be a problem if he didn't find it attractive, but Sakura was quite tired of what he did and did like. They hadn't done all this work to just cater to each other, no it was time to grow with each other. If he was going to stay with her, as she was sure he would, he'd get over it.
"Er…" Easier thought than done though. "Yes well...er..yes. I want to have sex with you, ...is that alright?" She finally got out, feeling heat rush to her cheeks again. Really she didn't know why she was asking. She was already half dressed. Sasuke blushed though, his face going bright and innocent as a child's. Definitely a virgin, still- he kept his posture stoic.
"I thought I just asked you…." He replied quietly, his lone hand still toying over hers. She blinked then nodded and laughed. "I cut you off" She laughed. "Yes…..can I? Can we?" Her green eyes lifted to stare at his eyes again and he stared back. Then they smiled, together.
The smile was what melted her. Melted her into a puddle of sheer bliss- not because of his innate sexual prowess- which in all honestly could use work just as surely as her own could, but because of a wealth of feelings being expressed in glances, caresses, and mutual happiness. This she was sure no one else in the world would share with him but her. Something brought from years together, and apart. Two hearts who understood each other, and dare she say it- loved each other so deeply that it felt like they could 'be' forever.
"Sakura…" He whispered, pulling back again.
"Do you not know where?" She asked, finishing his thought. He grumped at her for being forward, but she smiled and nodded at him. Leaning over she helped guide him into the position.
"I'm sorry" He said again.
"For what?" She paused blinking, only now starting to feel the confidence leave her now that her clothes were lost.
"Nothing" He said finally after a long pause.
"It's alright" Sakura said. "I forgive you" She added, seeming to understand exactly what was wrong. He blinked in surprise and stared at her then. Then looking around as if to make sure no one was there, he leaned in again and they shared a timid but passionate experience filled with a couple more apologies.
"Huh?" She could have sworn she heard a voice as she felt the blanket move about her shoulders. Her eyes shot open and she sat up to find Sasuke standing there again.
"Sasuke-kun!" She almost shouted, but remembered her parent below the next instant.
"Sakura." He replied with a raised brow and that same bored look. Her cheeks flushed and he sighed. "You should get some sleep…" He pointed out.
"I don't want to sleep" She replied. "You'll be gone soon so…...no sleeping. I only get so many moments" She pointed out bluntly.
Sasuke stared at her, then sighed. "I'm not leaving tonight….we can see each other tomorrow."
Be it a tired reprieve from the sharp clarity of wakeful reality, or just plain desperation, she jumped up and wrapped her arms around him and drew him into a kiss. To his count, he didn't push her away. After all they'd shared this numerous times now. However, he did not lean into it. Pulling back Sakura pouted slightly.
"You're going to leave me to sleep alone anyway, aren't you?" she said, crossing her arms and sighing as she sat back down.
"Yes" He answered pointedly.
"Alright fine…..tomorrow is fine then." Her face fell visibly.
"Oi, Sakura" He called to her in a slightly rude tone, his way of pulling her from her sulky cloud. Green eyes opened to find him now squatting in front of her and smiling gently. He leaned forward and poked her head gently.
"See you tomorrow" He whispered. Her eyes went wide at the head poke. He'd promised to meet her tomorrow, and she knew he'd keep it. A smile and a deep blush crossed her cheeks. Rubbing her forehead gently, she nodded.
"In the park- the bridge- 10am alright?" The game might be over. But it was only the beginning of the season.
Author Note: Tell me what you think. Next chapter should be fun too….I hope.
