Wife to Grandmother
It had been a simple meeting
Wife to Grandmother
A first time for all
It had been pleasant
And not very awkward
Grandmother had loved Wife
Wife had loved Grandmother
All had been fine
It wasn't until much later
When a letter arrived by owl
Addressed to Wife in shaky handwriting
It was from Grandmother
She wanted to meet Wife once more
Wife obliged, curious as to why
Grandmother asked Wife why she had married Husband
Wife replied because she had never met a more amazing man
Grandmother thought Husband had met plenty more amazing women
Wife left the house in tears
Grandmother had once been kind and charming
Wife never told Husband about the meeting
Husband lived on thinking they were friends
Wife never did find out why Grandmother disliked her so
She never asked
Wife just simply continued to love Husband until she died
Thought I'd get the poetry out of the way first with this challenge - with a pairing I wasn't sure what to do with. There's nothing in cannon that says Arthur's parents /weren't/ alive I don't think, so yeah. Not sure how poetic this is, but reading over it and it seems rather... fancy?
