Herald of Power
A one shot no one was expecting. But what can I say? I'm all about writing the unthinkable. A unique crossover one-shot that many had never thought about writing. Rated T because there's no real mature theme here to be concerned about.
Also, a new pole in my profile for anyone interested.
Now let's read!
Chapter 1: Emissary of the Cosmos
Planet Vegeta was known among the galaxies as the home planet of the Saiyans, one of the most powerful races ever known. Their technology couldn't exactly be compared with those of alien races like the Kree or the Skrulls, but what they lacked in technological advances were all compensated by their natural super biology. Their physical structure could hold strain that other races just couldn't without dying, their cellular structure capable of healing at a rapid rate with greater strength as a result. Yet their most fascinating qualities were their ability to harness a great amount of life energy called ki inside them and released it in the form of destructive blasts and the ability to transform under the radiation of a Full Moon and increase their might ten times.
But now Planet Vegeta and most of the members of that mighty race of warriors were at its end. The oval-shaped attack saucer floating just outside the high atmosphere of the ten-times gravity planet was the way to know that dire omen. Atop of it, the midget-sized Icejinn Frieza had his hand up charging a gigantic sphere of destruction. The monkeys had outlived their usefulness for him.
But unlike Frieza, someone didn't think that. He was watching the things unfolding and the tyrant of the Northern Galaxy was blind to notice him. In fact, everybody would be blind as this being only could be noticed if he so wanted that to happen.
"Interesting" A deep echoing voice stated to himself, surveying the light spectacle with a clinical eye of mid interest. The figure had never had a determined shape as he was viewed depending on the race that gazed upon him. To human eyes he was a towering person taller than any sky crapper. His entire body had a pink and blue metallic armor, which helped to control the primordial powers of the cosmos. Many advanced races addressed him with the name of Galactus. Though others knew him as the Devourer of Worlds. Mostly because he sustained his billions-of-years life by eating planets.
"Just a big light show, Gal. That's about it" Another voice replied not amused at all like the first one. Unlike the imposing cosmic figure, the new being was rather short next to the Cosmic Entity, almost the size of an average Saiyan. And instead of having a fanciful super-tech armor over his body he only had dark blue shaggy trousers and brown boots. There were golden metal bands on his slender arms and a black Egyptian-hieroglyphic choker around his neck. His skin was furry-less and he looked like an anthropomorphic purple cat.
Yet the fact he looked smaller than the gigantic Entity of Cosmic Energy didn't mean he was the laughing stock of the Godly hierarchy of the multiverse. In fact, mortals and gods alike feared him much more than they did to Galactus. Unlike the Power Cosmic being, the purple cat was not a devourer. He was just a destroyer. Plain and simple. Arrive, destroy anything and anyone you want and leave. That made for a much more efficient job at installing fear over the galaxies and the parallel dimensions.
Right now though, the image of the mighty God of Destruction Bills was lesser than frightening. He was floating legs folded in a Buda stance, his right arm holding a giant bucket full of what people of Earth called popcorn.
"I told you to stop calling me Gal" The mighty entity replied to the feline-like being, his voice amazingly threatening. The fact one had made Galactus angry should be enough to empty your blather on your pants. But for the Hakaishin of the cosmos, it was just another day in the multiverse. Pissing off the wielder of the Power Cosmic was just his break in between each planetary destruction. Besides, the two had pretty much the same job. To keep the balance and not let everything be destroyed by the Primogenial forces of the Multiverse.
"Whatever" The cosmic cat replied with a shrug of shoulders, munching a hand full of sweat corn. The purple-colored Deity wolfed down on the bucket, amazed by how a primitive planet like Earth could invent such a delicacy to the taste. A couple of seconds later, Bills casually disintegrated the empty bucket into stellar dust. The Hakaishin stood up from his sitting position. Considering he was on space though, 'sitting' was a rather vague term. but on a Deity, anything counted without been important "And if you excuse me Gal, I have to go and blow up a planet before someone called Zod can do it for me" Without a goodbye between the two friends, the purple-skinned entity disappeared faster than the speed of light into another distant galaxy.
Meanwhile, Galactus turned his vibrant eyes towards the dying planet. The Supernova blast was heading towards it, one injured Saiyan floating there with a terrified expression on his bleeding face.
Without moving a single muscle, the Saiyan was taken away as his planet blew up into space dust.
The beaten Saiyan called Bardock didn't know what was happening. The only thing he last remembered was trying to fight against Frieza on his own. Non of the other Saiyans believed his word, when he foretold their destruction. Those fools had be suffering in Hell for sure by now.
But that brought the current question, where in Zanafer's Hell was he? The scar-faced alien could only see blackness in front of him. And that was all that it was.
Then a flash of light almost blinded the Saiyan, who closed his eyes by the radiance. Once the light was gone Bardock could only gaze up at the imposing figure of the universe. The human-like alien had heard about him. Galactus, the world eater. While he had never met him in person, Bardock did heard about his indescribable actions. Empires like the Shi'Ar and the Inhumans had disappeared without leaving a trace behind, everything and everyone guzzled down by the Primordial Entity to satiate his unquenchable hunger.
"I know who you are Bardock" The Devourer of Worlds stated towards the beaten warrior standing meters above Bardock. The injured warrior could only look a bit fearful but also ready to fight. Despite how futile that could be, he was still a Saiyan through and through "And above all, I know what is your desire" Bardock couldn't tell if the entity was lying to him. He knew the Cosmic being could control reality and pretty much anything he wanted. Maybe he could also read minds like that flaming bird story he had once heard.
"You wish for power" Bardock's eyes widen by the statement "The ultimate power to avenge your race and show everyone that you are the strongest. I can give you that" The Saiyan stared at his blood-stained hands. He did. He wanted power. For years he had struggled to become a Super Saiyan. To show how the low class had become a God among insects.
But something was telling Bardock that such an enticing offer wasn't for free. There was always some hidden motive.
"What do you want?" The injured Saiyan asked, distrust echoing in his broken voice "Nothing is simply given out as a present" The Cosmic being would have raised an eyebrow if he had them. The mortal at least had basic knowledge of not immediately trusting anyone. Some of his Heralds could learn from him. Or they could if Galactus hadn't exterminated them after they have tried to destroy him. Not that they had even came close to scratch him but the thought was still there.
"You are correct. There are...certain duties, which will require of an outside assistance so they can be fulfilled. In this case, your assistance" The Primordial Entity explained. Ki was life force. And that kind of energy, while easy to find in every organic being, was hard to accumulate in one place alone for the Devourer of Worlds to feed off. The powerful entity just didn't have the technology or the knowledge in his trillions of years lifespan to do that. He, however, had the Cosmic Power, an infinite energy capable of rearranging reality at his will. Saiyans were known as one of the strongest races of the universe. That wasn't even considering what a fully-unleashed Super Saiyan could do.
And the Devourer of Worlds had once experienced the true power of what Super Saiyans could do. The Saiyan Gods, the first thirteen of their kind had had such amazing strength and magic power that each of them could have killed Bills on a one-on-one fight with very little trouble. In fact, the thirteen Gods had almost destroyed Galactus, one time when he had tried to eat their planet. Only because the Saiyans knew how important Galactus was to retain the universe in balance, was his life spared.
That day, however, had changed something inside the wielder of the Power Cosmic. The attacks he had received, while exceedingly painful, were entirely composed of life energy. And that's what Galactus' ultimate goal was. While he couldn't satiate his hunger for eternity, he certainly could breed a powerful warrior with sufficient energy reserves to feed him in the eons to come.
Bardock was wary even more. Whatever the powerful being was offering him, he was been very specific in how many details to give away. And those were already vague on sheer principle.
"Accept my gift and avenge your race. Or simply die with the rest of your kind and be left in the shadows of the cosmic history" Galactus stated, his tone not menacing. Just stating all of Bardock's current options.
The bleeding warrior of the dead race could only clutch his fists tight. Those were his only options? To give his life away and be sentenced to an eternity of Hell or accept the offer of great power and end up in an unknown fate for decades to come? But at the same time, Bardock didn't want to end up in Hell like his entire race did. Besides he never had a family back in his planet. He had always been a commander, who only got the missions done when the weaklings couldn't.
The injured warrior set his black-eyed sight into one of the Primal Entities of the universe and nodded. He only hoped for a second chance to do things right and hopefully make things better for himself.
"Then now, I shall give you exactly what you wanted" The Cosmic being stated in his ominous tone, raising his metallic hand and surrounding Bardock inside a white sphere of power. Normally Galactus would just bestow a minimal portion of his own unfathomable Cosmic Power into his minion. But this Saiyan was different. Cosmic Power wasn't what Galactus needed for Bardock to have. The Saiyan already had power deep inside him to equal Gods and other Cosmic Deities. It was just a matter of bringing it out.
The injured Saiyan felt his body floating, a white sphere encompassing him. He then felt it. Pain. Excruciating pain running through every fibber of his body. It felt like someone was peeling his skin off with a rusted spoon. The sensations were easily ten times worse than what Frieza just did to him.
But the pain wasn't from a hazardous source. In fact, it felt like a good kind of pain. If such thing existed. Because instead of loosing power, Bardock was gaining it with each second. The mighty scar-faced warrior looked down at his body to see that all of his former injuries had been healed. He even suspected his new Zenkai had gone over the normal multiplier chart.
Galactus saw the Saiyan fully healed. He had made sure to put enough Cosmic Power to amplify the Zenkai above what Saiyans called normal boost. Now it was time to start the true unlocking process. His blue-gloved hand shot tendrils of lightnings around the recovered Saiyan.
"What's happening to me?!" Bardock yelled, the sensations worse than anything he had ever experienced in his life of never-ending battles. This wasn't good pain at all. His brain, trained to withstand unbearable dolor, was been slowly overwhelmed by the white-hot agony.
"I'm rewriting your atomic structure from scratch, unlocking the true hidden potential of your race" Galactus explained in his ominous tone, his work going on affecting the Saiyan "But I never explained it was going to be hellishly and excruciatingly painful"
The Saiyan yelled by the white-hot agony, a well of sudden strength bubbling out to the surface in a mighty golden explosion that shook the reality to its very core. Bardock's mind drifted into unconsciousness by the mind-numbing sensations convoluting over his tired mind.
The recovered Saiyan drowsily opened his eyes, his head pounding and throbbing. His nerves had been set on fire by the surge of unbridled power. He couldn't believe that he had that much energy inside him all along and never felt it before. Bardock's eyes widen in surprise. He could see in front of him a reflection of his new self.
The Saiyan wasn't the same, that was for sure. Now Bardock was taller almost by an entire foot. His muscles bulked enough to almost tear appart his remaining tattered clothes. His former black eyes were of a bright golden color along with his hair, which now was a wild main of long spikes, that reached down his middle back. But the most fascinating addition was his glowing golden fur extending all over his frame, except for his feet, hands, face, neck and nether regions.
"What the...What did you do to me?!" Bardock yelled towards the imposing Entity, who still surveyed the warrior from above. The mere yell of demand created a rip inside the energy bubble Galactus placed Bardock in by the Saiyan's new staggering might. But the Cosmic Devourer wasn't faced by it. He could do just the same with a blink of his eye.
"I only unlocked the transformations your raced mundanely called, Super Saiyans" Galactus explained, his tone still stoic and not bothered by the lashing "Your current form is one of the strongest in the whole cosmos. A fusion between the Super Saiyan and your Ozaru form" Bardock widen his eyes by the statement, looking down at his fur-less hands in astonishment.
Yes. He could feel it. He was no stranger to the power boost of the Ozaru transformation under a shinning Full Moon. But this new Super Saiyan fusion was even greater than that. Like if the Giant Ape had shrunk down to a human size and then transformed into something else entirely. Something that just wasn't capable of been comprehended by mortals. The ki running through his veins was pure hell-fire that couldn't be turned off.
The Ultra Ascended Super Saiyan looked up to his new boss. If he was going to work for him then there was one little job left for him to do.
"Galactus, bring me back!" Bardock ordered towards Galactus, looking up with his new vibrant golden eyes "I want to put Frieza in his rightful place now!" The Cosmic Entity didn't bother in replying. It was too easy of a thing to do. Such a statement would normally turn the person into space dust with a flick of fingers. But unlike his former Heralds, the Cosmic Entity needed of Bardock. His well of life force could sustain him for great periods of time. As such, his devouring of planets could stop. Despite knowing how important it was, the Cosmic being had destroyed countless life forms to know his powers could be a great good rather than just another Entity of fear.
The Cosmic Being sent the Ultra Saiyan back to the place, where Galactus first took him without needing to move a muscle in effort.
Bardock suddenly reappeared floating over the empty vacuum of space. His golden eyes looked around through the emptiness of the cosmos. And he saw it. Frieza's ship was floating atop of where once stood Planet Vegeta.
"Frieza!" Bardock yelled, his body igniting in golden fire that ripped the reality around him. His body shot through the void and reached the ship in picoseconds.
The carnage started right away.
Just seconds later, one of the last Saiyans in the universe simply floated in the emptiness of space, his hands covered by purple blood. As satisfying as murdering that bastard of Frieza had been, it had also been too easy. But the scar-faced Saiyan couldn't say he didn't enjoy it. That meant he had obtained powers many other Saiyans would give all of their limbs for.
"Have you finished with the spectacle?" The reappeared Galactus said in his ominous voice to his creation. The Saiyan returned back to his normal palm-haired black main with his body loosing the golden fur. His black eyes looked at his new boss. For what he had heard about the entity, then working for him could be much better than an effeminate lizard. As long as he didn't betray him. He had heard that the last people, who worked for the Devourer had disappeared from existence in this timeline or any other.
"Yes" Bardock said his tone not faltering "Now what?" If he was working for the strongest being in the universe then he would at least make sure to do his job right.
"Now it's the beginning" Galactus replied. Despite how powerful his creation was, he was still not powerful enough to generate the enough amount of life energy to satiate his cosmic hunger.
A blinding light covered that entire sector of the cosmos. When it faded the two entities were far away in another place.
To where that place was, it was not in mortal minds to know.
Notes from the Chapter:
Bardock didn't have family. Maybe a few lady lovers but just to have fun with no strings attached. That way he doesn't feel concern about working for Galactus.
This Marvel /DBZ crossover happens in the Seventh Universe but things intertwined. There were also some alien races from the Comics but one from DC. Also one flaming entity we all know about was mentioned by Bardock.
I don't know if I said this to anyone before but Galactus and Bills have pretty much the same job in their respective universes. Imagine the two working in the same universe. How many planets would be left if they work at the same time?
I bet no one ever expected that Super Saiyan 4 could be achieved that way. But with Galactus, there's no impossibles. Only things to do.
Just in case I wasn't clear, Bardock also has the other forms of Super Saiyan 1, 2 and 3.
Sorry if Galactus wasn't shown as his stoic Comic self. It's just that this Galactus has other goals to achieve, not only feeding off of planets. He instead wants to use Bardock to feed off of his ki blasts.
If you want to know about Bardock's power level during this story then ask me in a PM. I wasn't in the mood to write his power in the story.
And so Bardock is alive but on Galactus' hands. Do you think of what is for him to come now? Well, I'll leave Bardock's fate up the fans to decide! See you later.
