Day 1
Homer focus
It was a cold, cloudy day in Springfield. A fitting setting considering the beginning of the end was about to start.
Homer was sat in his room at the Nuclear Power Plant and glanced at the clock. "3:50," Homer said with a small sign, "not too much longer." Homer glanced at the empty box of doughnuts by his side and rolled his eyes and decided to grab a box from the break room before his shift ended and then he would head to Moe's.
Homer's thoughts were interrupted by a frantic knocking at his work door. As he stood up to open the door he yelled, "I'm working, I promise." Homer opened the door revealing Lenny and Carl.
Before Homer could speak Lenny spoke in a hurried tone, "break room now, watch the TV." Carl nodded, "you have got to see this." He said before Lenny and Carl walking to the break room.
Homer blinked in confusion before nodding and heading to the break room. Homer arrived at the break room and grabbed a box of doughnuts and pulled one out of the box before turning his attention to the television.
The doughnut became forgotten in his hand as he looked at the television which showed an emergency broadcast from the local news station where Kent Brockman was talking, "it is unknown what caused the outbreak, but we advise all residents to remain inside." Kent finished.
Carl stepped forward and spoke, "we don't know if it's real or not but they're saying zombies are here and we're not taking any chances. Me and Lenny are staying here, you do what you want."
Homer nodded before heading to the phone and dialling his home phone number. Marge picked up the phone, "hello?" Marge's voice sounded giving Homer a sense of relief.
"Marge, it's me." Homer spoke with haste. "Are the kids in?"
"No, Lisa's at a school club and Bart's at the mall with Milhouse so it's just me and Maggie here. They told you that this mor-"
Homer interrupted her, "Marge, I can't explain why but stay inside." Homer said before hanging up the phone and running to his car to pick up his family.

Marge looked at the phone in confusion shaking her head, having become used to her husband's antics and eccentricities. Marge picked up Maggie from the floor and held her to her hip. Shaking her head again, Marge walked to the window and looked out, trying to figure out why she should stay inside.
Apart from the strong wind nothing was out of the ordinary. Marge looked at Maggie and said, "Maybe a storms on the way." Ignoring her husband's warning Marge unlocked the front door to let the pets back inside and to remove the hammock from the tree before it could be destroyed from the wind.
Heading outside, Marge watched as the pets sprinted inside before she unhooked the hammock from the tree before hearing a snapping twig behind her. Marge spun around and clutched Maggie closer to her, only to relax as she saw it was only Rod Flanders from next door.
"Hello Rod." Marge said as she wondered what he was in her garden for. Her confusion was quickly replaced by fear when she took Rod's appearance in. His skin was a sickly pale green and his mouth was bared back in a primal rage. Marge attempted to back away into the house from Rod but before she could reach the house Rod was lunging towards her. Marge let out a scream before delivering a swift kick to Rod's stomach sending him to the ground.
Marge gave a tearful look to Rod before quickly heading through the door and locking it shut.
Tell me what you think.
