Hello and welcome to Cursed, my new Wolf Among Us story—Remastered!
The story will be between Bigby and Red Riding Hood. I know, that's been done so many times but I've read some of them and wanted to make one a bit different from those I've read.
This will be starting from the Homelands all the way to the game, which will be a while from now. I will work the relationship between Red and Bigby as a slow burn since it won't start off as romantic with some issues there that need to be taken care of later on.
"Mother?" a young girl called out as she tied a red cloak around her shoulders. "I'm going now."
A woman appeared from her bedroom only wearing a thin slightly dirty cream chemise that had a sleeve slipping off her shoulder and hair a mess as she narrowed her eyes at the girl, clearly tired and makeup smudged around her eyes. "And where are you off to?"
The young girl didn't have to think about why her mother was in such a state, she already knew about the man in her room from the noises coming through the walls. "I'm going to visit Granny, bring her some things."
The woman rolled her eyes. Her daughter always was closer to Granny than she was, since she was forced to get married young to a man that gambled away their money before one night he was killed for not repaying the debt. She turned to prostitution while her daughter helped Granny deliver sweets to costumers, growing ever beautiful while she rotted under disgusting men. She felt like she got the short end of the stick, and she was very bitter about it. "Go." She waved her hand to her daughter. It hurt to look at her. "Don't forget to use the path—or don't." She shrugged, her voice showing how much she actually cared. The young girl nodded. "Now leave. I've got to finish my service, Red."
Red turned away to pick up her basket and quickly stuffed it with some meat, bread, sweets and a bottle of wine for her Granny to enjoy. She made sure her red cloak was secure before leaving the house, smiling as she felt the sun on her skin and the smell of the woods nearby made her relax. She loved being outside.
The greens of the woods were vibrant as Red traveled through it, taking note of all the flowers that grew around. Maybe she should bring some to Granny.
She was so focused on the wildlife around her that she did not notice the two yellow glowing eyes watched her from the shadows, wondering who the little red hooded girl was that came by every other day through his woods without batting an eyelash. Grown men would be frantically looking at every shadow for him and yet a small thing like her pranced around without fear.
"Hello." A gruff voice from behind Red made her jump and turn around to face whoever spoke.
Red frowned as she looked around, not seeing anyone. "Who's there?" she clutched the handle of the basket tightly, pulling it into the ring of her cloak so it was hidden from view.
"You shouldn't be out in these woods alone." Bigby smirked as he watched her, expecting her to drop the basket of food and run back to the village. "What would your parents say?" he teased.
Red frowned as she continued to look around. "My father is no longer with us and my mother doesn't mind. May I see who I'm speaking with?"
Bigby wanted to laugh. She was polite, even in the face of danger. "Close your eyes and I will show you my face."
Red pouted slightly but complied with the stranger's demands. Her eye lids slid close and she stayed still, only hearing the sounds of the woods around her.
"Open."
Red felt some wind on her face when the voice spoke and slowly opened her green eyes, which widen when she saw a large black wolf in front of her. "Wow." She had to take a step back to admire the large wolf with glowing yellow eyes in front of her.
Bigby watched her every movement, his eyes quickly moving to her basket at the smell of the meat wrapped in it.
Red noticed the wolf's eyes were on the basket that was peeking out into view from inside her cloak. "Are you hungry?" she reached into the basket and took out some sliced lamb, holding it out to him. "Here, try it."
Bigby narrowed his eyes before smelling the meat to see if it was tainted like some hunters have done before. It didn't smell tainted, but it did smell extremely appealing.
"It's lamb with some spices. It's my Grandmother's favorite." Red smiled at him as he quickly looked from Red to the meat in her hand. "If you don't like it, I can bring you something else."
Bigby slowly ate from her hand, being careful not to bite one of her fingers with his large sharp teeth. The lamb was freshly cooked, since it was still warm, the spices weren't strong to bother him like some spices and the meat was juicy. He licked the juices from her hand, enjoying the taste of the meat. He pulled away from her hand and sat back on his hind legs, licking around his mouth.
"Did you like it?" Red asked, looking up at him. His fur looked so soft, softer than any fur she'd seen before.
"Yes." Bigby licked around his mouth. "I've never tasted lamb like that before."
"Then I'll bring you some whenever I can."
Bigby stared down at Red. "Where are you headed to? I don't think little girls should be walking in these woods alone."
Red pouted at the little girl comment. "I'm not a little girl."
Bigby laughed. "And yet, you are. A little girl in a silly red cloak."
Red tugged the edge of her cloak and answered in a small voice. "It's not silly." Bigby chuckled and Red watched as the sun shone on his fur. "Can I touch you?"
Bigby tilted his head to the side. "Why?"
"Because you look so soft."
Bigby chuckled deep in his throat and let the human touch him. She softly patted his fur down. "I was right." She said proudly as she continued to pet Bigby, who was enjoying it.
He looked down at her. "Why aren't you running away? Aren't you afraid?"
Red frowned. "I'm not afraid of you."
Bigby stared down at her with his glowing yellow eyes. "You should be. Now, where were you going, little red?"
"My granny's house."
"I don't think little big girls should go walking in these woods alone."
Red frowned and looked around. "Why? Is there a monster around?"
Bigby laughed lowly. "Plenty." He saw her shaking in fear. "But to see that you don't get chased, I think I'd outta walk with you for a way." Red nodded, her eyes wide. "So until you get to grandma's place I think you outta walk with me to be safe."
Red smiled brightly up at Bigby, happy to have him to protect her from the monsters that lurked in these woods. "Okay, thank you Wolf."
