(Hello, everyone! This is my brand new story titled, A Tale of Two Wolves. Before we get started on the story, I would wish to go over somI'm e things before you start reading. First off, I would personally like to thank and give credit to DeviantArt Member antubis0 for granting me permission to do this story. I was inspired to write this after I have discovered her artwork and comics by accident, but I was so glad that accident turned into a great discovery. Her Transformer/Dire Wolf comics and drawings are simply the most beautiful and amazing pieces of art I have ever seen. I have no Deviantart account, so I had to ask some friends of mine to contact her, and after stating that I would treat her Transformer Wolf Designs with the greatest respect she said yes. This story will take place a few months after antubis0's comic called Riverbank. If you have not read any of her comics, I suggest you should in order to better understand the story. Other than that, have fun reading and be sure to comment.)

A Tale of Two Wolves

A warm, soothing wind blew all across the green, stoic trees of the forest as the sun slowly came down towards the earth, lighting the skies in a warm glow of orange, yellow and purple. All the creatures of the forest: badgers, deer, boars, bears, rabbits, mice, rats, birds and wolves all began to return to their homes and territories to settle in for another night of resting.

All except for four animals that were still in midst of a merry gathering. These animals were the most grand of all creatures: The Dire Wolves.

The Dire Wolves were large in size; taller and stronger than the Grey Wolves that inhabited the woods, but were also the most distinctive to be identified.

Dire Wolves had some of the most colorful fur patterns of any living animal, and two Dire Wolves never shared a similar pattern, each one as identical as a fingerprint.

But, there was one thing about them that was also identifiable. They would either have blue or red eyes, and they were also at war with each other. The blue eyed wolves, who believed in the equality of all animals of the forest and piece, and the red eyed ones, who only believed that only the strongest and the most ferocious should rule over all.

Unfortunately, the two types of these canines never saw a rapport with each other, and it was evident that they would start a war. This war between them began so long ago, lasting for almost over hundreds of years. Because of the longevity, almost all had nearly forgotten how long or when the war even started or the cause, but the eldest ones have remembered. They knew the day of which the war had started from the perspective of their alphas, and had past this knowledge on to the youth of their packs.

Each sides had wondered and wished for the day that something or someone would end the war and bring the forest to order once again. Yet, none of the past elder Dire Wolves, or any of the living ones today would have ever dreamt of one peculiar incident would bring a new perspective to the views of themselves and those around them. It did happen, and it started when some young puppies of two different packs met and become the best friends.

In a clear patch of the woods, surrounded by a decent wall of trees and underbrush, three young adult Dire Wolves were playing with a young puppy of their own kind. The puppy's name was Bumblebee, named for his yellow fur and dark brown stripe that ran from his rear, under his eyes, and tip of his nose. While not having a stinger or wings, the named seemed fitting for he often resembled one due to his slightly fluffy fur.

He was a lively little Dire Wolf cub who loved to explore the world around him. Yet, despite his cheerful demeanor he had a tragic past; he had been discovered as a newborn pup next to his dead mother when she got herself caught in a hunter's snare.

There was no trace of his pack, and was taken in by the pack belonging to a proud, noble Dire Wolf named Optimus Prime. He was a red and blue Dire Wolf, who led a pack of five other wolves, including the ones playing with Bumblebee at the moment.

The twins, Sideswipe, with grey, black, and red markings; Sunstreaker, with grey, black, yellow and red markings, and grey Dire Wolf with red patches on his front shoulders and a blue shade-like pattern on his face named Jazz.

"Sunstreaker's it! Run!" cried Sideswipe after he had pounced his brother in a game of 'Hunter and Prey', and he along with the two other players all ran, trying to get away from his yellow brother.

"I'm gonna get you for that, Swipe!" Sunstreaker growled playfully.

"No tag-backs. Don't you remember the rules?" Bumblebee asked, but he had stopped his running the minute he spoke; this would, in return, seal his doom.

"Yeah, you're right, Bee. And it looks like I found my prey! Come here!" Bumblebee yipped and ran off with Sunstreaker catching up to him until he stumbled to the ground after tripping over a root in the ground. Sunstreaker carefully planted his paw on to Bumblebee's back and cajoled, "Told ya I'd get you." The little puppy laughed heartily as he tried to get away from his playful playmate, but the bigger Dire Wolf just pinned him there and started licking at the sides of Bee's cheeks and behind his ears. "Yummy little prey."

"Ahhh! Ahahahahaha! Stop it! You're tongue is yucky!" Bumblebee cried as he finally got out of Sunstreaker's grip and he began chasing after him, but he quickly set his sights on Jazz after spotting him a few feet away. "I'm going to get you, Jazz!"

"No you ain't! I'm the fastest of the pack!" Jazz chortled as he zoomed past Bumblebee, sticking his long pink tongue out to taunt him. Bumblebee wasn't one to call it quits, and he continued running after Jazz, trying to nip at Jazz's tail as he did so.

However, a puppy's energy could only be spent on so much hours of activity, and Bumblebee was starting to lose most of that boundless energy and began to tire out, stopping in his tracks and flopping to the ground and rolled onto his back. He looked up at the sky with a tired palate upon his face, slightly hypnotized by the changing hues above the clouds, before his view was obscured by Jazz's grinning face. "Looks like this little Bumblebee needs to return to it's hive." Jazz cooed as he comfortingly nuzzled Bumblebee.

"Already? We usually stay out a while longer," Bumblebee whined, but then yawned as he got up.

Just then, Sideswipe perked his ears up and looked over into the far west end of the forest, hearing a slight rumble in the air. His eyes caught the sight of threatening black clouds rolling to their direction; clouds that seemed to churn and grow darker as they slowly made their crusade.

"Jazz is right, Bee. A storm is heading this way, and a very big one by the look of it," Sideswipe announced as he turned to Jazz and Sunstreaker. Sunstreaker and Jazz both nodded in agreement that now was the time to depart and they began their journey back to their den, with Bumblebee right behind their heels.

As much as the twins knew of the approaching storm and its threat, Jazz did have a very good point for wanting to leave early, and it wasn't because of the storm.

One month ago, he had taken Bumblebee out to go swimming by a riverbank he had found after a patrol. It was rather fun at first but then it quickly turned from good to bad. A brown, black, tan Dire Wolf with red eyes suddenly appeared. It was Starscream, a sneaky, defiant member of a very dangerous pack of other red-eyed Dire Wolves, led by the tyrant by the name of Megatron.

Megatron was a cold-hearted, beastly canine of grey and black. He was a very ruthless leader, leading his pack into rough and bloodshed battles with other blue-eyed packs to gain their territory, killing off any survivors. The survivors in question included females and pups, unfortunately.

On the day he had taken Bee to the river, Jazz had no idea that he had accidentally invaded a part of Megatron's territory, and as a result, Bumblebee was kidnapped and Jazz was brutally wounded from the ambush. However, the wounds alone weren't enough for an even bigger danger: Ironhide.

Ironhide was a part of Optimus's pack, one of the eldest and the strongest of all. But, he also had a temper and was very protective of Bumblebee, and when he had found out about Jazz's actions he had nearly killed him had not Ratchet, the yellow, red and grey medic of the pack stepped in.

Jazz had nearly lost his little buddy that very day, and was determined to not let such a incident to ever happen again, lest he would want to face up to Ironhide.

As for the incident, it had turned out that the twins had actually taken up the riverbed as part of their pack's territory, which explained why Megatron had captured Bumblebee. He planned on using the puppy as a leverage against Optimus Prime. But, in the end, Optimus managed to convince Megatron to let Bumblebee go after Ratchet and Jazz had found another member of Megatron's pack; a black, grey puppy at around Bumblebee's age. Optimus threatened that he would kill the pup if Bumblebee was to be harmed.

Thankfully, both packs did not lose either pups.

However, at the moment, Jazz was feeling a little anxious after he had also taken another look at the clouds; he found that the clouds were now almost as black as smoke.

Sunstreaker was also looking at and urged the others to quicken their pace.

As the three older wolves went on faster into the woods, Bumblebee was having a difficult time trying to catch up, even though his breathing had returned to normal. His tiny, puppy legs were not enough to reach his friends and was slowly starting to lag behind.

The three signs of the storm now came upon the retreating animals: the cold rain, the bright, flashing lighting and the bellowing blasts of thunder that followed. The triage of this monstrous symphony sent a wave of fear and determination to those who heard it, retreating to places of shelter and avoid the raging beast of the sky.

Bumblebee was terrified by the loud booms of the thunder that echoed above him and tried to hurry along with the others, but just couldn't catch up.

"Everybody, we need to find shelter and wait the storm out! We could easily get electrocuted!" Sideswipe called out.

Jazz and Sunstreaker nodded and looked either side of themselves to see if there was any place for them to hide from the storm and wait it out.

Sunstreaker managed to see a possibility up ahead: an abandoned cave. "Come on! There is a cave! We can rest there." he shouted and they raced on over to the cave, the entrance appearing to look like a huge, toothless mouth. Jazz, Sunstreaker and Sideswipe were immensely relieved to feel the raindrops cease their drumming on their bodies, and feeling nothing but a warm air that embraced them like an invisible blanket.

"Whew! I thought my patterns were going to melt away," Sideswipe commented as he shook his whole body to get the rest of the water off his fur.

"Me too," spoke Sunstreaker, also shaking his fur dry. "I'd be known as 'Greystreaker' then."

The twins laughed heartily at their little joke while Jazz also dried himself off. He then turned to the others. "At least we are all here, safe and sound." he sighed with comfort.

Just then, Sideswipe noticed that he didn't hear a response from their youngest member. "Hey, anyone know where Bumblebee is?" he asked.

"I thought he was behind us. Maybe he is still on the way but slowed down." responded Sunstreaker.

"Or…" Jazz words trailed off as worry overcame him. No, not worried. Terror was what was overcoming him, and what would happen if he were to return to the rest of the pack without Bumblebee and how Ironhide would react. "...he is lost..."

Little Bumblebee searched everywhere for Jazz, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, but he could not see nor smell any trace of them Oh, if only he could have ran much quicker he would be with them instead of being all alone in the pouring rain he could be safe and dry. He tried to howl as loud as he could but the thunder was much greater and much more abrupt than the sudden streaks of the lighting.

"I have to find them," Bumblebee whimpered, shaking from the cold. "Where are they?"

Once more, he looked all around for any shelter and a miracle sprouted from the unpredictable actions of convenience.

It was another cave, but this one was much smaller and it looked big enough for him to fit through. "Maybe I'll just wait in here until the storm goes away, and then I'll find the others." Bumblebee said to himself as he went in.

The small cave was dark and slightly warm; stalagmites protruded from the ground like pointed spires, and there was no sign of other animals.

Bumblebee shook himself free from the water and looked all around to find a comfortable spot to sleep in. He then sniffed the air, but he suddenly found out that his little snout was stuffed up. "Oh, great. I got a cold." he groaned.

"Who's there!?"

Bumblebee froze in fear and crouched to the ground, his tail curling under his legs at the sudden shout. He looked to see who was there, but since he was still a puppy he could not yet see perfectly in the dark. "It's...just me...Who..who is there?" Bumblebee's small voice whimpered.

"I asked you! Who are you? Friend or Foe?" called out the voice again. It sounded very young; the voice seemed to sound almost exactly like Bumblebee's in terms of age, but it had a much stronger, brasher tone.

"Friend! Definitely a friend!" Bumblebee called out.

For a moment there was no other reply from the voice, but it returned and Bumblebee could hear a sort of sigh before the voice started talking. "Good. I don't allow any Foes in here, this is my cave."

"Oh please, can I stay?" Bumblebee asked. "It's too scary out there and I got separated from my pack."

The voice acquiesced. "Okay, I'll let you," Before Bumblebee could thank the voice it barked, "-but you pick your own spot! The back of the cave is mine!"

"Alright, I will. I'm not trying to kick you out, so there is no need to bark at me." Bumblebee replied.

"Yeah, well, in this world you gotta be tough in order to survive. That means you have to get mean and brave anytime someone wants to take what belongs to you, and keep it to themselves."

Bumblebee had never heard of such a thing; he had remembered what Optimus and Ironhide had taught him, and what they had taught him was the exact opposite of what this voice was reciting. "Well, in my pack, we believe that we should only use force only when it is very necessary, not all the time."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Huh, interesting."

For a while Bumblebee was quiet, unsure of what else to speak of. The voice was also very quiet, also unsure of what it should speak of as well. If they were to wait out the storm they would have to find at least something to talk about.

"Are you a Dire Wolf?" Bumblebee finally asked.

"Of course I am. What else would I be? A rat?" the voice answered and then chuckled. "Imagine that; talking rats. I bet they might be the next thing to be more annoying to hear than foxes that scream and howl at night."

Bumblebee also laughed at the mention of foxes. "Yeah, they can be loud, even though they are related to us"

"But, they are too sneaky and sly to trust." the voice replied. Suddenly a low growl was heard and Bumblebee whimpered and covered his eyes as he was lying down.

"What was that?"

"Just me. My stomach has been growling ever since I found this place to get away from the storm. Oh, if I could give up my own hide for just one fat moose, I would."

"What do you mean? You do have a pack, do you not?" Bumblebee inquired.

"Yeah, but we hardly get any prey these days. We live in the far edge of the forest, where there isn't much grass or water," The voice then mumbled to himself before continuing. "And it was all thanks to a rival pack that we had to move away."

"Who's pack was it?"

"I don't know. I never got to know their names."

Bumblebee felt a little sorry for the voice and his pack; whoever this rival pack was he didn't know either, but if he did he would tell his pack and maybe they could help the other pack find a much better place to live than out in the outskirts of the woods.

"So, what about you? Which part of the forest do you live in?" the voiced then spoke again.

"Oh, I, and my pack, live in the center of the woods, and we have plenty of prey to go upon." Bumblebee answered as he smiled. "We have everything there: Moose, Deer, Boar, Ducks, Quails and Wisent. It's enough to make me hungry just saying their names."

"Mine, too. My mouth is already salivating." the unknown voice answered and a slurp could be heard. Bumblebee apologized and said he would stop talking about food if it bothered his invisible host, but the voice answered that it was okay.

The voice then yawned. "All this talking is making me tired."

"Me too." Bumblebee agreed and also yawned, his eyes already starting to bow before the power of slumber. Before he could nod off he then asked, "Hey, in the morning, maybe I can take you to my pack. They might help you and your pack find a place to live. Would you like that?"

"Well, okay. Night." was the response.

"Goodnight. See you in the morning." Bumblebee yawned and soon allowed his eyes to close, his mind surrendering to the lullaby of sleep. What neither he nor the voice knew was that they might have been the same species, they were not the same in terms of who's packs they belonged to.

Bumblebee could feel a warm pulse upon his nose and face, and awakened to see the entrance of the cave being lit up by the light of dawn. And best of all, the rain and thunder were gone, and the grass was blanketed with fresh droplets of the rain from last night, making small dots of light the ground.

Bumblebee got up on his four legs and stretched himself to free the tension of his muscles and limbs.

That's when he remembered about what happened last night. He had nearly forgotten about the voice he spoke to, and nearly forgot his promise. He turned and called out, "Hey! It's morning! Wake up!"

A moan could be heard, then a slight rustle before a loud yawn came to Bumblebee's ears. "Geez, can't the morning wait?"

"Come on, you said that I could have my pack help you and your pack, didn't you? Surely you haven't forgotten, have you?"

"No. No, I didn't. I'm coming."

Bumblebee was still in the cave and waited until he could see a black figure at about his size arrive next to him. It was still dark in the cave, so he couldn't see the figure clearly. "Hey, lets race out. It'll be more fun."

"Okay, okay."

"Ready, Go!" With that, Bumblebee sprinted out of the mouth of the cave and could feel the cool, wet grass under his paws. It felt wonderful to feel the grass instead of the hard surface of the cave. "Woo Hoo! I made it! That was fun, wasn't-"

All of the excitement and jovial feeling that was exploding from inside of Bumblebee had suddenly died down. His smile dropped into a shocked gasp and his lower jaw dropped. The glow of his bright blue eyes suddenly became still and the pupils and iris almost became pin-sized.

The Dire Wolf pup that the voice belonged to had red eyes. The same red eyes that belonged to the Dire Wolves that had captured him and nearly killed him. Worst of all, this pup that he had spoke to in the night was the same pup that had tried to bite him when he tried to escape.

"You..." Bumblebee whimpered with fright.

"You..." the little black pup with white markings gasped. He, too, was also in great shock. He was talking to the enemy; the one pup who's pack had taken him and was almost killed by their leader, the leader that had blue eyes and a red and blue fur.

For a few seconds, neither of the young ones moved a muscle, their gazes never faltered.

That moment of stillness was soon broken when Bumblebee moved to the black pup, almost about to speak when the black pup barked at him to scare Bumblebee, and ran off in the other direction. "Wait! Stop!" Bumblebee called but silence was all that replied.

Bumblebee was left alone for a long while as he tried to figure out what had happened. He had spoken with the one pup who belonged to the pack that had nearly killed him. He should have been ashamed of himself for speaking to that puppy and yet, he wasn't.

What was he feeling at the moment? What was it? He should have been scared by the pup due to his eyes, but he wasn't. He felt something else, but he couldn't decipher it.

That was when reality slapped his distracted psyche to the real world, and suddenly remembered the reason why he was out alone in the woods, and why he had slept in the cave with the puppy with red eyes.

Jazz, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. He knew they were probably looking for him.

Bumblebee soon began his journey back to the location of his pack; he already remembered where the den was and soon found a familiar trail that would lead him there.

However, he looked back at the direction of where the pup had ran off in and thought to himself, He is with the pack that tried to kill me, but why am I not afraid of him now? I should be after what nearly happened to me, but I'm not.

He would have to figure that out in a later time, for he knew that the most important thing now was to return to his pack and be safe. The black and white pup would have to wait until another day. Yet, when will that day be? Would it be tomorrow? A week? A month? He didn't know.
