So this is something I threw together for the Tucker Appreciation 2k15 week happening on Tumblr. This was in response to the third day's prompt, "Romance." Hopefully I didn't butcher it too badly.

It'll be short, three chapters, and I hope to have them all posted by the end of the day today. I'd like to thank HappyLief for helping me come up with two alternate titles: "lookin 4 love in all the wrong gothic places" and "Tucker and Danny are briefly psychic when they are six." U rock ilu

I hope you guys enjoy this!

We'll Get Married on the Moon Like Astronauts

Chapter One

March 6, 2015

I'm never going to fall in love because love is gross and girls are gross and I'm going to ride dragons when I grow up.

Six-year-old Tucker Foley nodded firmly to his paper, reading over his messy scrawl for any spelling errors (which simply didn't exist, considering he was the best speller in the whole first grade) and leaning back in his seat. He scanned the rest of his class, squinting to see the kids hunched over their papers in the back a little more clearly (why things far away were so fuzzy, he'll never really know he thinks) before he landed on the boy next to him. Danny Fenton, the new kid whom Tucker had just become best friends with at recess an hour ago, was so concentrated on his response to the question on the whiteboard (When will you fall in love?) that the tip of his pink tongue was poking out between his lips to one side. Tucker choked back a snort and elbowed Danny's arm.

Danny's head jerked up immediately, giant blue eyes ablaze in fear. "You scared me," he hissed. Tucker glanced up at their teacher, who was busy reading something on her giant computer, before pointing to his paper. Danny's eyes darted across the page and a smile quickly spread across his face.

"What're you writing?" Tucker whispered. Danny's eyes immediately went to their teacher and Tucker glanced back as well, just to find that she had not moved.

"Uh," Danny's hands fluttered across the page as if he was about to hide his writing, so Tucker naturally snatched the page out from beneath Danny's fingertips.

I will fall in love when I am a grown up and I meet a pretty girl who likes to cook peenut butter and jelly sandwiches but not tost! And I will be a astronot and we will

Tucker felt himself going cold with horror (and not just because of the spelling mistakes, though those certainly weren't helping). "You can't fall in love," he whispered quickly, "girls are gross. Remember on the playground? They have girl germs."

Danny huffed and yanked his paper out of Tucker's hand. "I know!" He said emphatically. Tucker fell back in his seat. "I said I was gonna fall in love when I'm a grown up, not right now,"

"Oh," Tucker chewed the inside of his cheek and frowned at his own paper. "When's that?"

"Uh, when you're fifty I think."

"Oh." Tucker quickly erased the first half of his sentence and rewrote it.

I will only fall in love after I turn 50 because that's when I'll be a grown up also I'm going to ride dragons when I'm a grown up.

Feeling newly satisfied with his answer, Tucker dropped his pencil on his desk and turned to Danny. "You're gonna be a astronaut?" He whispered. Danny grinned and nodded.

"And," he said excitedly, "I'm gonna get married on the moon. 'Cause that's where astronauts get married."

Tucker felt his eyes go wide as he glanced out the window, where the faintest sliver of the moon was visible in the otherwise blue sky. "Wow," he whispered in wonder.

"Alright, class," Tucker and Danny immediately straightened up when their teacher strode to the middle of the whiteboard. "Have you all finished your answers?" There was a general murmur of agreement across the room. "Good. Pass them to the front and then we can get started with our Valentine's Day party."

All thoughts of love and growing up vanished as Tucker and Danny greedily devoured their share of the chocolate.

Five years later, not much had changed, besides the fact that Tucker now had glasses with thick black frames and had grown a few inches. Oh, and there was the fact that he and Danny were both social outcasts after an incident in the fourth grade involving Paulina's fuzzy pink purse and a carton of expired milk. Tucker still shivered when he thought about it.

"Valentine's Day is stupid." Danny declared as he slid his tray onto the table across from Tucker. Tucker hummed, never breaking his stare into space, fixated on a spot on the wall behind Danny. "I mean, seriously, everyone knows the party is gonna be lame. I wish we could just go outside instead."

"What's the matter, you don't wanna watch Kwan and Paulina make out for the whole party?" Tucker asked. He managed to keep his voice innocent, but he felt the sly smile creep across his face at the sight of Danny's cheeks blushing the darkest red he'd ever seen. Kwan and Paulina were the it couple of the sixth grade. Everyone knew they were in love, and that one day they would totally get married and have a bunch of babies. Gross, Tucker thought. Danny, on the other hand…

"What does she see in him, anyways?" He grumbled bitterly as his shoulders slumped.

"Well, he's tall and funny and he plays sports." Tucker said, ticking each one off on his fingers. "He's kind of the total package."

Danny's sigh edged on a growl. "Whatever," he said, picking at a small pile of peas with the prongs of his black plastic fork. "I hope they break up soon."

Tucker glanced at the entrance of the lunch room and saw a girl he'd never seen before with long, blonde hair in two braids walking past out in the hallway. Two tall adults, her parents, he guessed, were walking on either side of her, and slightly in front of them was the principal. Tucker watched with disinterest until a fourth adult followed them – his and Danny's teacher, Miss Knope.

"Dude," Tucker said, kicking Danny's shin under the table. Danny yelped and dropped his fork, sending peas rolling everywhere across the table. "There's a new girl, I just saw a new girl!"

"So?" Danny grunted, reaching beneath the table to rub his bruised shin.

"So, she doesn't know we're losers!" Tucker said excitedly, drumming his fingers along the tabletop to keep from kicking Danny again.

Danny's scowl deepened. "How do you even know she's gonna be in our class? There are two other sixth grade classes at this stupid school, remember?"

"I saw Miss Knope with her," Tucker said smugly. Some of the anger left Danny's eyes. "This is our chance, okay? She's blonde, so she's obviously gonna be popular, so if we can be friends with her before she meets Paulina, maybe she can help us be cool again, too!"

Danny frowned and glanced across the cafeteria, where Paulina, Kwan, and Star were all sitting. They were surrounded on all sides by almost everyone in the whole sixth grade. Tucker knew that side was specifically reserved for the cool sixth graders at twelve-thirty, when they ate, and he also knew that Danny's older sister Jazz sat over there two years ago when she was a sixth grader.

Apparently Danny reached a resolution, because when he looked at Tucker again, he looked newly determined. "Okay. Yeah. Let's make friends with the new girl."

The new girl was standing at the front of the class when they filed in after lunch. Tucker stared at her unashamedly, fumbling over a few desks in the process. Her eyes were the lightest purple he'd ever seen and her nose was so tiny and perfect. Her hands were folded neatly at her belly button over a thin frilly pink shirt. Her blue jeans had faded green stains over the knees, like someone had spent hours scrubbing at them, and her shoes were shiny and black. She was staring at the floor, ignoring the fact that every single person's eyes were on her. She peeked up from beneath her bangs at the commotion Tucker caused, but before he could catch her gaze, she looked back down again.

Overall, she was perfect. Even more perfect that Paulina.

"Class," Miss Knope called when everyone was seated, "this is our newest student, Samantha Manson. Today is her very first day here and I want you all to be very, very nice to her. Understood?"

"Yes Miss Knope," twenty voices murmured simultaneously. Samantha's eyes widened slightly and she glanced up at Miss Knope.

"You can take that desk right back there next to Tucker." Tucker felt his heart stop. He hadn't even noticed the extra desk that had been added on to his, Danny's, and Lester's pod. Oh my God, oh my God, Tucker thought as she began to pick her way toward him.

When she sat down, a wave of sweet perfume washed over Tucker. He had to swallow because for some reason his mouth began to water. She scooted her chair forward until she was pressed right up against her desk, neatly folded her hands on top of the desk, and glanced at Tucker from the corner of her eye. She looked at him for a moment before her gaze flicked to Danny, and then to Lester. Tucker was only faintly aware that his mouth was hanging open. Speak, you idiot!

"Uh, hi," he said. Samantha turned her head toward him and shook his outstretched hand. "I'm Tucker."

"Hi Tucker," she said and his heart did somersaults in his chest. "I'm Sam."

"That's a boy's name," Danny said. Sam's gaze flicked to him and her eyes narrowed. Tucker glanced back and found Danny to be cowering in his seat at the look on Sam's face.

"It's also short for Samantha." She said through clenched teeth. They were quiet for a moment, the air thick and tense, before Sam turned her attention to Lester.

"L-Lester," Lester stammered, reaching across the desks to shake Sam's hand. Tucker noted that she never smiled once through the whole exchange.

"It's nice to meet you." She said, leaning back in her seat and refolding her hands. Tucker noticed that her nails were clean and perfect and painted a light shade of pink. Perfection, he thought wistfully.

The Valentine's Day party started fifteen minutes later. The moment Miss Knope released them for the party, Sam was swarmed. Tucker leaned away from it, glancing at Danny, who was mesmerized by Paulina. Paulina was towering over Sam, fluffing her shiny black curls where they hung over her shoulder absently as she spoke.

"Where are you from?" Paulina asked.

"Narnia," Sam answered. Tucker furrowed his brow and peeked at Sam's face, which was completely straight.

"Where's that?"

"Antarctica."

Tucker and Danny exchanged a glance. For the first time in a long time, Danny appeared to be interested in something other than Paulina. This should be interesting, Tucker thought.

"Do you have any pets?"

"I have a pet bat and a pet demon. They both sleep under my bed and they eat the souls of children like you."

Paulina's nose scrunched and Star reached out to touch Paulina's arm. "That's gross," Paulina declared loftily.

"I don't care." Sam said, and Tucker thought that she really didn't.

"Uh, where do you live?" Kwan asked, clearly uncomfortable with the way the conversation was going.

Sam turned her head slowly and stared at Kwan for a long time. So long, in fact, that Kwan was beginning to shuffle nervously when she finally answered. "I live in hell," she said calmly.

Tucker gasped and the throng of students immediately dissolved into a clamorous uproar. From the corner of his eye Tucker could see Miss Knope scrambling to quiet them down, but he was too busy watching Sam to really pay any attention. Sam was just sitting there, watching the commotion, utterly detached from it all except for a small satisfied smile that turned one corner of her mouth up.

Eventually they calmed down enough to tell Miss Knope what had happened, but because it was Sam's first day, Miss Knope decided to let her off with a warning. "If it happens again, I won't be very nice about it," she said quietly to Sam.

Sam nodded solemnly and Miss Knope returned to her desk. The rest of the class was giving their little pod of desks a wide berth now, and Tucker just knew the quiet whispers drifting along the walls of the room were about Sam. He felt his face heating up with secondhand embarrassment, but it wasn't enough to throw off his fascination with her.

"You're weird," Lester said as he stood. Sam snarled at him and he yelped, his foot getting caught around his chair leg, which sent him falling backwards. The class laughed appreciatively as Lester quickly stood back up, face flushed bright red, and practically ran away from them.

Danny leaned forward hesitantly, his upper body supported by his arms across his desk. "I'm sorry I said Sam is a boy name earlier," he said. Sam pursed her lips, regarding him from beneath the thin fringe of bangs that had escaped the clip on top of her head.

"It's okay." She said, and Tucker released a breath he had not realized he was holding. "My mom said the same thing. She told me not to say it, but I did it anyways. I figured since I'm going to a new school I can be a new me."

Tucker nodded slowly. "Makes sense," he said, and she flashed him a quick, shallow smile. "You have pretty eyes," he blurted, and her face flushed. He could see Danny face-palming, but he couldn't look away from Sam. She was just staring at him.

"Thanks," she murmured, and Tucker felt some part of himself crumble in relief.

A year later, he was convinced he was in love.
