The crystal clear waters reflected the sky filled with millions of dancing stars surrounding the island. Tonight the moon was a beautiful crescent hanging in the sky like a necklace on a string. Light breezes swayed around the trees creating a blissful sound putting everyone in a tranquil state. The sand had turned cool overnight, as well as the water. 14 people sat in a circle trapping the burning fire inside of them.
"This has been the best spring break ever." Draculaura smiled nuzzling her had into her boyfriend's chest. Clawd chuckled and draped his arm over his petite girlfriend's shoulders.
"You can say that again," Heath began, "I just hate that it's almost over. It's so much fun here and it felt like we just got here! Are you sure we can't stay a little while longer?"
"No Heath, our parents will be worried, we told them we'd be back at the end of the week and that's that. We don't need out parents fanging out because their children doesn't show up."
"Awe, you're not fun Clawd! I know you like it here! It's a paradise, who wouldn't like it here?"
"No Heath, we're going back on Saturday. No Exceptions." Clawd said sternly. "Now can you add a little more fire to the wood? The flame is almost out."
"Can we stay longer?"
"Heath!"
"Okay! Okay! Sheesh, can't blame a ghoul for trying." Heath raised a palm to the fire wood, tossing a fireball into the small pile of firewood and watched as the flame grew. Abbey, sitting next to Heath, Kissed his cheek leaving a cool, icy heart, which melted when Heath's hair caught on fire.
"Oh Baby now that's what I call love!" Heath exclaimed pulling Abbey into a grizzly bear hug with his arms around her shoulders and his chest close to hers. The group couldn't help but laugh at Heath's silly behavior. Abbey and Heath had been together about 6 months and they found this vacation to the exactly what they needed to get away from things they'd dealt with all year. At first Abbey feared that it would never worked between the two because of Heath's behavior towards women and his true intentions of being with Abbey, but later she found cared as much about their relationship like her. He held open doors for her, sang her a song Holt wrote in front of the whole school and wasn't afraid to tell the world how much he loved her. They, of course argued about a lot of things, but he would always be the one to apologize and hold her and tell her the sweetest things she'd ever heard.
"He is so whipped." Deuce says laughing. Cleo snickers holding Deuce's hand lacing their fingers together laying her head on her boyfriends' shoulder. Deuce kisses her forehead sweetly then traces his fingers along her arm watching her holding back a smile. Deuce and Cleo were still going strong after all this time, they encountered so many obstacles throughout the year, girls trying and failing to take Deuce away from Cleo and Cleo's family trying to tear Cleo and Deuce relationship to pieces. Yet here the couple is, snuggled up in front of a campfire.
"The water is pretty when there is full moon." Draculaura says sitting on her boyfriend's lap playing with the buttons on his shirt. He looked down at his Vampire Queen and placed a blanket over her once he saw how relaxed she was getting. He knew her like the back of his hand. He knew her bad habits, her faces she made when she felt a certain way, her fake smile, and what she did when she got tired. He wrapped his arms around her petite body as she lay her head on Clawd's chest. He smiled at her while she fell into a quiet sleep.
Clawd and Draculaura were still together even when Gory bullied Draculaura and she was caught trying to drive a sharp wooden stake into her chest. She cried and cried for weeks yet her boyfriend stood by her side the whole time even when Bloodgood suspended Gory for half the year. Vice verse when Clawd was suspended for fighting Gory's boyfriend in the creepeteria, Draculaura stood by Clawd and defended him. Clawd smiled down toward the sleeping ghoul in his arms and kissed her head softly.
"Looks like Draculaura is out for the night. I say we all call it a night and go to bed." Gil said caressing Lagoona's side.
"Oh Come on! It's only 10:30! We still have a whole hour left!" Heath whined.
"Gil's right, we should head back. It's getting a little chilly out here anyway," Clawd stood up holding his girlfriend bridal style, "I'm going to take Draculaura back to the campsite."
"Alright we'll be right behind you." Clawdeen said waving her brother off.
"Alright then." With that Clawd walked back to the camp, with Ghoulia and Slomo right behind him.
"You're not going back are you?" Romulus asked his girlfriend as she places her legs on top of his.
"Nope." She responded laughing.
Clawdeen and Romulus had been dating for 4 months going on 5. At first, Clawd was not keen on the idea of his beast friend and his little sister dating but after a while he learned that Clawdeen every right to love as he did. Clawdeen made a compelling argument of why she should be able to date without Clawd watching over her shoulder. He understood and backed down and now when Clawdeen and Clawd go anywhere Draculaura and Romulus is right there with them. Clawdeen and Romulus had had a pretty good year, Clawdeen was voted Freaky Fab Ghoul of the year and Romulus made the baseball team, exactly like Clawdeen predicted when she helped him prepare for tryouts, making him and Clawdeen one of the fiercest couples Monster High's ever seen.
"Wait where Lagoona and Gil?" Frankie asks removing her boyfriend's arm from her waist.
"Relax Frankie Fine, they probably went back with Clawd." Holt said grabbing her hand and kissing it and puts his arm back around her waist.
Frankie and Holt started dating around the same time as Heath and Abbey. Holt showed Frankie that he and Jackson wanted a real relationship with her. The moment she gave him a chance, Holt gave her skull candies, made mix tapes dedicated to her and introduced her to his parents. The moment she wishes she could relive is the moment he gave her a promise ring that says 'I Love You Frankie, Now And Forever ~Holt' in beautiful script at the end of his casketball game and told everyone how much she meant to him. She still wears it everywhere she goes.
"Oh okay well I guess we should go too." She said rising from her seat.
"I'll walk you." He got up and walked next to his girlfriend. Frankie and Holt started down the long but narrow dirt pathway leading back to the resort. Noticing his girlfriends' slight chattering, Holt stopped, took off his lightweight jacket and draped it over her shoulders. He slid his hand into her much smaller one and looked back toward the sky.
"It's a beautiful night out." He says.
"Yeah. It is." She says turning her gaze away from Holt and slipped her hand out of his grip.
Holt frowned, "Are you okay? You seem a little distant tonight."
"Distant? Me? No way! What makes you say that?"
"Well for one, I tried to kiss you earlier and you turned your head, you've never done that to me before unless you were mad at me which I know wasn't the case and now I honestly feel like you're acting different."
"Holt I'm always around you, just because I dodge one kiss doesn't mean that I'm being distant."
"What about just now? I try to hold your hand and you pulled away from me. Lately you just seem off."
"Holt please don't start this."
Holt huffed, "I'm just trying to understand why my girlfriend is acting weird around me. I didn't know it was a crime for caring." He said in utter frustrated, Frankie sighed and stopped in her tracks. She held the hand that had the ring Holt gave her and twisted it around her slim, mint finger. She could feel her heart pounding against her rib cage and she closed her eyes. Holt hadn't noticed Frankie stop until he turned around. He would have thought she was a statue had she not been twisting that ring on her finger. He walked toward her and placed a hand on her cheek, he lifted her head toward him.
"Holt… I want to tell you... But I'm afraid you'll be upset with me." She said placing her hand over his. She could feel tears pooling in her eyes, and her throat close.
"You know you can tell me anything."
"No you don't get it…" She choked out, nearly on the verge of sobbing.
"What are you talking about Frankie? You're really starting to scare me."
She took deep and steady breaths trying to calm her heart beat but it only seem to speed up more, by now, tears had already started to roll down her cheeks and she gulped.
"Tell me Frankie. If there's something bothering you, I can try to help but I need to know what it is."
There was a long pause between the two before she spoke up…
"We have to break up..."
Taken back by her sudden outburst, Holt frowned. He began to register what the girl he had loved said.
His chest tightened and his heart felt like it was going to explode, he couldn't believe what he was hearing. He felt like his whole world fell off its pedestal and hit the ground smashing into a million pieces.
"What? Why? Did I do something wrong?" He asked stepping in front of her grabbing her shoulders. He tried to look into her eyes, but she wouldn't let him, she avoided his face and looked everywhere but in his face.
"It was nothing you did wrong," She started, "there's someone else."
"What?!" He exclaimed. He was furious, he felt hot, and He felt like punching something hard. There were so many unanswered questions racing through his mind. Like who is this guy? What have they been doing behind his back and did she love him?
"You said you wouldn't get upset.." She said finally looking at him, Holt sighed clutching his jaw, and looked at her to continue.
"After two or three months... I met him.."
"Who is 'him'?"
"… Neighthan."
"The guy you told me that liked you?! You told me I didn't have to worry about him!"
"I thought so too... But we started talking more and more and it felt like an instant connection. He understood how I felt so different from everyone else. It felt so wrong but so right. I wanted to stop it but by the time I did, you and him were actually getting along and I didn't want to mess anything up. I tried to stop it but…"
"But what!?" She jumped a bit at hearing Holt raise his voice, he never yelled at her. Never. They had small fights but he never raised his voice and he never got this upset at her. It scared her.
"He kissed me... And I kissed back…" She said biting her lip.
He couldn't take it anymore, the anger he had been withholding suddenly popped up. His hair caught on fire, his hands were clentched into fists and his eyes became a dark red.
"H-Holt?" She said backing away from her boyfriend.
"Where is he Frankie?" His voice was gruff, and his fists were shaking.
"Holt please calm down. I'm begging you ... please calm down."
"WHERE IS HE FRANKIE?!" He marched past Frankie toward the shared housing units for the monsters. Frankie repeatedly called for Holt but he wouldn't stop, he only sped up. In no time Holt reached the cabins with Frankie hot on his tail.
"Holt Please Stop! I'm sorry! Please don't do this!" she yelled tearing up. Ghouls and Mansters watched Holt stomp across the dusty, and run away from his direction when they noticed his flaming head.
"Frankie what's going on?" Clawd yelled to Frankie, only getting small weeps while she continued chasing the fireball. Clawd called the other mansters and followed Frankie until they reached a cabin. Holt stormed up the wooden stairs and burst through the door. There were 2 bunkbeds, one on the left side and one on the far right side and in the middle was a smal round table. Neighthan sat on other side of the table facing the door. He grabbed Neighthan by the collar and slammed him against the hall.
"Dude what is your problem?!"
"You're the problem! You think you can just go around kissing other guys girlfriends?!"
Neighthan struggles in an attempt to escape but Holt was much too strong.
"First of all, she came on to me! she told me, we had a connection. OH and," He smirked, "She kissed me."
Holt lost all self-control. He slammed the zombie pony onto the floor, held the boy down and punched Neighthan. Holts' blows only got worse by the second, his knuckles were a bloody mess. Next thing he knew Clawd, Deuce and Romulus were pulling Holt off Neighthan. They literally dragged the boy out of the cabin. Frankie cried holding Neighthan's hand in hers.
"I'm sorry." She said sniffling and sobbing. Neighthan smiled little wiping her eyes.
"Don't be."
That was two years ago and Frankie still remembers it like it just happened. She was scared out of her bolts, Holt never acted like that before and it scared the living daylights out of her. The way his hair caught fire and his eyes. God, his eyes are what scared her the most. They turned a DARK red! Never has Frankie seen Holt fight like that not even when they were friends! The day after all Monster High students were asked to call their parents to come and get them. They filled a confused Jackson on the details and he begged and pleaded for Frankie to stay with him but that didn't happen. She told him that it had to end when Holt beat Neighthan to a pulp. Jackson was so heartbroken he couldn't even bother to look at anything else but the ground. The last day she saw him was his Father came to get him, Jackson kissed her forehead and told her that he'd never stop loving her e hugged her and left never to be seen again. He'd been transferred out of Monster high and he no longer lived next to Draculaura.
The only thing she kept of them was the ring. She never had the gut to give it back. She always felt guilty for what she did but she was a stupid kid who wanted have her cake and eat it too. Her friends never understood why she did it but they learned to forget it, Heath however, never forgave Frankie for what happened. Their friendship was damaged but would heal in time. Heath never wanted to talk about what happened for the fear of messing up their friendship for good. He kept his mouth closed for his steady relationship with Abbey.
"Hey Babe, You ready to go or am I gonna have to sneak back upstairs again?" Her boyfriend asks standing in the doorway of her bedroom door. She jumps a bit and looks at her cocky boyfriend, she couldn't help but smile.
"I'm coming now. So go back downstairs before my Dad come up here and find you!" She giggles walking toward him.
"What will he do if he catches me up me?" He says resting his hands on his girlfriends waist. He moves closer closing all the space between them.
"He'd kill kill you." A voice said behind Neighthan said. Frankie's eyes went wide as Neighthan turned around to see Frankenstein towering over the teenage lovers. Neighthan let a humorless chuckle and ran to the steps.
"He's an idiot."
"He's my idiot."
