I don't own SSB.

Pit pat. Pit pat. I can hear my life droning on as a single raindrop sliding off a rooftop into a pool of dirty water accumulating below. I close my eyes as emotions pass through my body in a wave of serenity and darkness. I can feel my body slowly sinking into the sea I'm imagining. But I don't need air or need to move, I know where I am going. My body sways gently as I fall from rooftop and meet my end. I'm in a state of peace and passiveness so my body magically disperses below perfectly among the others.

My eyes sluggishly open and the sound of hazy raindrops greet me from above. I peer out of the window and watch the light drizzle. My mouth slightly opened and soft words escaped my lips. If I were anymore drowsy, I would of missed what I said. My senses were dulled and my voice was coarse despite that, I still smiled and gazed up at my ceiling. If somebody had heard me, they would probably scold me for saying such a phrase casually and nonchalantly. A sad chuckle escaped my lips and I pulled the covers off from my body.

I walked out to the remains of the destroyed fields. The light rain drops cling to my clothes and hair as if I were their mother. My eyes looked over the stains of the scarred earth. This sort of thing would happen sooner or later and even if I weren't born. My gaze wandered off to the large craters marked on the earth. They began to capture and hold the rain drops hostage.

A small grin appeared on my face. How ironic. I stuck my hand out and watched the light rain slowly gather in the palm of my hand. I imagined it as if one raindrop held one person's soul so I collected a million. They are all resting in the palm of my hand, waiting, piling, crying. I slowly closed my palm and gazed back at the large crater. It has claimed many lives already. I sighed and turned back to reach my home.

Today is another day where I'll just thrive alone again. I turned back one more to to gaze at the ravaged field and above the trees. Due to the misty rain, I could barely see the wall that separated my lonely life with a world full of love and hate; affection and misery; laughter and anguish...

I took a deep breath in and whispered the same phrase from this morning. A sad smile played at my lips. I would never fit into that world anyways. With a slow step forward, I calmly walked through the pathway to my home in the rummage left by the Angels. Collapsed buildings with their board protruding out like a skeletons, loomed over me dangerously as I went by. Black muck clung to the upturned earth and reached out to me as if they were still worth saving. My body slowly faded into the darkness in this rubble.

"Where are you? My lord... My savior..."

"!" A blue haired teenage-boy jumped up, creaking the bed in doing so. He cursed under his breath when he realized he managed to make the sleeping girl next to him complain. "shh... Go to sleep, Lucy... You'll get in trouble if they catch you awake."

The young girl sleepily blinked her eyes then tears started rolling down her cheeks. "Big brother..."

"Shusssh!" the boy desperately tried to quiet her. He pulled her close in hopes holding her this close would quiet her sobbing. "Big brother..." she sniffled quietly and slowly went back to sleep.

The teenage boy sighed in relief, but is now in an uncomfortable position, but he did not want to risk waking the young girl again. That would turn out badly. He heard the door creak open and slow, ominous foot steps enter the room. He quickly shut his eyes and breathed in slowly to make it appear he was sleeping.

He listened carefully for the foot steps to leave the room. Once they were gone, he released a sigh of relief and looked at the young girl sleeping in his arms. He gave a bitter smile and whispered, "You're such an annoyance, Little Lucy, but I did promise him to protect you." he sighed, "What I do for people on their death beds."

His eyes slowly shut and he felt the child's breathing on his arms. His a thin smile appeared on is lips. He didn't want her to live like this. At such a young age, she has seen things she should never have experienced and witness. He pulled her closer and buried his face into her ratty hair.

"Aiku... Aiku!... " he slowly opened his eyes and saw the child's bright face. She smiled in relief, "We're gunna be late for breakfast, sleepy head." she gave a toothy grin.

Ike sat up in the bed, "Lucina, everyone's still asleep."

"But I hungreeee!" she moaned and flopped onto the bed.

"So is everyone here." he bit back. Instead he ruffled her already messy hair, "Just pretend you're sleeping until they come and get us. Then we would be first in line, okay?"

"A'ite!" she pulled the tattered blanket close to her and snored loudly.

"No one snores like that." Ike laid down next to her.

"But I tryin' to be like Aiku!" she looked up at him with pure innocence.

He clicked his teeth. "Go to sleep, Lucina, it's early anyways."

"Oki, wake me early then!" she chimed and nestled into Ike's chest.

He sighed and wrapped his arms around her. The truth is he couldn't stay mad at Lucina. In fact, he has grown fond of her, like a little sister. He frowned hen he remembered his real sister and ho he was too weak to save her. He gripped Lucina a little too tightly; he will not let Lucina die. He will be strong this time and protect her... The only shining light inside this hell hole.

Ike snapped back to reality when the door creaked open and he heard the monotonous voice say "Good morning children, may you have a wonderful day in the Miracle Children Facility, where we strive for future hand-in-hand for the greater cause of humanity. May you smile nd laugh today again, our little angels."

Ike ignored the voice and shook Lucina awake. "Lucy, time to eat." He watched her eyes slowly open and she yawned.

"I want sleep!.." she groaned.

"Come on lazy bones," he teased, "Weren't you the one who called me a sleepy head earlier? And woke me up early to get in line first?"

She nodded and stretched her arms. "Yea..." She jumped out of bed and took a deep breath in the foul air we are used too. She turned around and smiled at me, "O-k, let's go!"

Ike got off the bed and held her hand the two walked out of the room. They were lucky enough to get this room last night. This room has beds and blankets even if they were beat up and disgusting, but it was better than nothing. As they were walking, some of the children weren't moving and R.O.B's had already arrived to carry them away. The sight didn't bother the two anymore, they were already used to it and never really made friends with the other children. If they did, they were likely to suffer more.

Ike and Lucina managed to grab the last tray. He glared at the half clothed and naked children advancing their way towards them. They stopped and looked pleadingly at him, but he gave them a cold glare and lead Lucina somewhere quiet so they could eat in peace. Everyone is starving and if they were in different situation, Ike would of helped him, but he had to take care of himself and Lucina.

They sat against the wall and glanced at the meager food portions. Ike took a piece of the stale bread, "You can have the rest." Ike chomped on the bread.

Lucina looked up at him, "Aiku... Your hungry too... Eat more... I dun want you gone too..."

Ike felt a pang of guilt when he looked at Lucina's innocent face. He didn't mean to worry her, he was just wanted her to eat food and live.

"You should listen to her you know?" a mischievous voice sounded. Ike turned and saw a clean-cut boy with red hair smirking at him. "If you died, she would be all alone and sad and die like another filthy animal or she could be taken by the Angels and experimented on." he grinned, "One of those options will happen sooner or later."

Ike glared at the boy. He couldn't shut this brat up or harm him even if he wanted too. This boy is one of the scientist's sons and if he messed with him, then they would do even more horrible things to him. The boy smirked, "Not going to say anything, huh? Well, I guess I am pretty intimidating. I can't wait to dissect the both of you." he laughed and walked away.

Ike shuddered. He knew this boy coming up to them is a sign of impending death. They have to get out of here somehow. "Aiku?" Lucina noticed him tense up "The boi... Is a Angel?"

Ike looked at Lucina's face, but only saw blood and needles protruding out of her. He gulped and nodded. Lucina frowned. It panged Ike that even knew she would not live for long. She looked up at him "Those sleeping kids... We gunna end up like that? Will I see Aiku and big brother again?"

Ike shook his head. "No..." she frowned and looked so solemn "Cause we're going to leave and live happily faraway."

She looked up at him surprised. Hope spread across her features. "Weally?"

Ike gulped and nodded. He knew he couldn't keep this promise, but he didn't want to see her so glum. "Y-yeah... But just bear it a little more. We'll leave soon and it might take awhile so we ought to keep living no matter what. Okay?"

She beamed, "O-K!"

Ike smiled and let her finish the food. After that, the bell rang and the children that were able to stand stood tall for roll call. The R.O.B's soon came in and took the children that were to ill to stand and didn't move at all.

A large man appeared with a clipboard in hand. He stood very tall and had a very menacing atmosphere with a long and sharp nose to add on to it. He started counting the children, quickly skimming over their physiques and scribbling things on is clipboard. As soon as he reached the child next to him, two clean-cut children and a boy who had a star on his face appeared.

The large man groaned, "What do you snot nosed brats want?"

The one with the bow on her head grinned, "We want a new playmate!"

The one with blue hair frowned, "Morton worn out our other one."

The one with the name Morton gave a toothy grin.

The man sighed "Fine, pick the ones that I counted and checked." he stuck his clipboard under his arm.

The three children looked over the line of filthy children. Their eyes wandered off to Ike and they smiled evilly at him. Ike gulped and clenched his fist. "What about that one?" the female pointed at Ike.

The large man shook his head. "I'm not turning around to look at someone you can't pick."

They groaned, "You're lame, Uncle Ganondork."

"Oh, okay. Then you can turn your tails and leave since I'm sooo lame and then you won't have anyone to play with you sick brats."

"Pfft... Fine, that girl near the front." the boy with blue hair said.

Ganon waved them off, "Now go away. Don't bother me again."

The children grinned like devils and grabbed the girl. "We're gonna have lots of fun with you." They skipped away, dragging the girl behind them.

Ganon looked over the boy and then turned to Ike. "You were lucky this time, son, but i wonder how long that luck of yours will last." Ike said nothing and moved onto Lucina then eventually counted all the other children. He looked at his clipboard and walked out.

The children stood around confused on what to do. They haven't been dismissed yet and didn't want to face the consequence of getting out of line. So they waited until one f the Angels come back and dismisses them. Twenty minutes later, a large man walked into the room, his red hair shining like blood thirsty flames. The boy with red hair followed after him with a blood thirsty smile.

Ike's heart pounded in his chest as the two devil's eyes were looking over the children. With fate's cruel decision, Ike realized the boy was pointing at him and slid over to Lucina. He smiled and said something to his father. Ike gulped the nonexistent spit in his dry throat.

This is the end. This is the end of this story. But it's far from over. Ike didn't know what to expect from this chapter, but he knew no good would come out of it. The small beast grinned madly at its prey and its handler beckoned this prey towards it.

Arms wrapped Ike's shoulders. "Don't falter... Stand tall... Be ready..." The sensation lifted from his shoulders. He faintly heard the voice because he was more focus on the large man. Those words rang in his heart however and he tipped his chin up as they made their way towards the Angels.

Ike didn't grab Lucina's hand. He tried his hardest not to defend her. If he pushed her away coldly, maybe she would have a chance to live. They would not suspect them of having a sibling relationship and there wouldn't be things done to them. He forced himself to look into the man's red eyes and shove down his fears.

The man smiled and ruffled Ike's hair. "This one does have a lot of guts. He could be of use. Now the girl seems... Plain..." Ike forced himself to not look at Lucina. She kept looking back at him, waiting for him to tell her what to do.

The large man noticed this and looked back at Ike, "Son... This girl seems to be dependent on you... Is it possible you're her big brother?..." he asked matter in factly.

Ike shook his head, "No. We don't share blood."

"hmm..." The large man examined Ike's face.

"y-you..." Lucina suddenly whimpered.

Ike felt panic rise in his chest, but he didn't face her.

"Y-you took big brother away..." Lucina asked frightful.

The large man looked at her, "Maybe I did, maybe I didn't."

"Where's he?" she squeaked and looked at him pleadingly, "Can I see him?"

The large man grinned. "Of course you can."

It happened all to quick. Ike heard a thud on the ground and Lucina screaming in terror. He didn't turn around and tried to keep up his facade. Her crying got worse and he could feel a warm liquid swarm around his feet. Even the man's son was yelling at him to stop. Ike shut his eyes and clenched his teeth, his whole body shook in rage.

Lucina's cries grew even more louder and gargled. Ike finally snapped and faced the man. Rage clouded his eyes and he did something unspeakable. He punched the large man square in the face. The man was surprised and fell back.

"Dad!" his son ran towards him and helped him up.

"I was not expecting that." the large man chuckled and watched with dark amusement as Ike cradled Lucina into his arms, "That child is strong despite being so scrawny... Maybe it's because of that bond with that girl..." he cackled evilly "He's a perfect specimen."

Ike wiped the blood off of Lucina's face. To his relief, she didn't have any broken bones, but now she has many cust and bruises. He heard the man's cackle and felt his heart drop. Ike looked into Lucina's eyes, "I'm sorry..." tears rolled off his face and touched her forehead with his. "I'm sorry...!" he cried.

AN: Poor Lucina, all she wanted to know where her older brother is...

If you didn't catch it, this is all taken place in an insane asylum and the rating will go up soon. If you can guess who the red hair devils are then you get a badge for being captain obvious. lol joking

Random Fact: Ike and Lucina and all of the other children don't know their actual ages, and some kids don't even know their names. I'm actually basing this story on real insane asylums and experiments by mad scientists and in some of these asylums, people have no clue who they are and suffer terribly by experiments or their mental disorders. This story will get intense at some parts and is not for the simple shoujo and school life readers. But it won't be x-rated and extremely gory/twisted because won't allow that. hahaha...

So i'm not sure if I should keep this long or just rush it in chapters or even continue it at all. It depends on who actually wants to read this crap and reviews because that motivates me to write. -w-/;;;

Updates will be random, Until next time~
