Oooooh this is it, it's the final chapter! Are you all excited? I'm excited! This chapter even has some cute little sasusaku/sasusaku family Moments in it for fun. Anyway I want to thank everyone who has read this story from the beginning to the end, or from any point really, and stuck out to this point with me. It means such an incredible amount to me, and I can't thank you all enough.
But anyway, along with the chapter!
"Mom, I want to sit on your lap!" Bolt protested, but he knew it wouldn't change anything.
"I'm sorry Bolt, you can't sit on Mom's lap right now." Hinata told him.
"Why is he so big?" Bolt asked, crossing his arms.
"Bolt, it's a girl, and she's just growing is all." Hinata said, rubbing her stomach.
"Well she needs to hurry up, because I want Momma too." He said, still pouting.
"But what about Dad? You can sit on my lap!" Naruto said, patting his leg. Bolt just looked over his shoulder.
"It's not the same."
Naruto hung his head. 'I guess my lap isn't good enough.' He thought.
"Just think Bolt, next week you and your sister can be on my lap!" Hinata said cheerfully.
"Ya, but I want to sit there now." Bolt said.
"Sorry sweetheart." She said, scooting up to the edge of the couch to get up.
"Whoa, where are you going?" Naruto asked.
"…to get a drink?" She replied.
"No no, I'll get it." Naruto said, beating her to getting up.
"Oh, well thank you, and tea is fine." She said.
"The lemon one, or the green one?" He asked from the kitchen.
"The green."
Naruto started brewing her tea. The past week everything got really cold, so tea was a constant drink the house.
"You know Bolt, I think it's about time for bed, don't know think?" Hinata said, looking at the time.
"What, but it's only… just past eight?" Bolt asked, looking at the clock.
"That's right, and do you know your bed time?" Hinata asked.
"Of course I do, its 8:30!" Bolt said.
"So isn't it about time for bed?"
"Nu-uh!" Bolt yelled.
"Hey, Bolt, what about a bath? You wanna take a bath?" Naruto yelled from the kitchen.
Bolt stopped his protests. He loved baths. He loved the bubbles, he loved the toys, he loved splashing water at his Dad, but he hated it, because he would be put to bed right after.
"…yeah…" He said defeated. Naruto walked back into the living room, handing Hinata her cup.
"Thank you." She said, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
"Here, I go get your bath ready, you can stay down here with Mom, okay?" Naruto said, ruffling his son's hair, then making his way to the bathroom upstairs.
"Mom, when will she be here?" He whined, poking her belly.
"It should be any day now. We just have to be patient." She said with a smile.
"I guess it won't be too bad when she's here." Bolt said, rubbing his Mom's tummy.
"Just think, you can look after her, teach her how to be strong, color together, have little sleepovers in your room, and even play pranks on Dad together." She said, putting her hand on his shoulder.
"Yeah… that'll be fun." Bolt said, thinking about all the cool stuff him and his sister could do. She then started to kick his hand. Bolt smiled at his Mom.
"See, she already wants to have lots of fun with you." She smiled.
"Alright Bolt, the bath's ready." Naruto said, coming down the stairs.
"Dad, Dad feel!" Bolt said, gesturing to his Mom's tummy.
"OH yeah, she's real kicking, probably saying 'let me out, let me out!'" Naruto said, placing his hand over his sons.
"Well we need to get her out!" Bolt said worriedly to his Dad, making them both laugh.
"Don't worry Bolt, she'll come out when she's really ready." Naruto said, picking him up, leading him to his bath.
"Oh no! The village is gunna be destroyed if someone doesn't help us!" Naruto said, pretending to be the rubber duck he was holding.
"Hahaha! No one can save you now!" He said, changing his voice to match the soap in his other hand.
"Noooooo! If only Bolt were here!" The rubber duck said.
"Have no fear! I've come to save the day!" Bolt said, raising his arm up.
"Hurray! Our hero!" The duck said.
"You think you can defeat me? The Greatest Soap Ninja that ever lived?! I'd like to see you try!" soap said.
"Ya? Well I'll have Gamabunta help me!" Bolt said, grabbing the frog toy, sending it flying down onto the soap in Naruto's hand, knocking into the water.
"Nooooooooooo…" the soap said, using his best gargle voice.
"Oh thank you Bolt, you saved everyone!" The duck said.
"It's no problem for the greatest ninja that ever lived!" Bolt replied with a smirk on his face. Naruto took the opportunity to splash at his son, breaking his character.
"Dad! I just saved the village!" he protested.
"A good ninja doesn't let his guard down!" His Dad said back jokingly. Bolt splashed him back.
"Don't let YOUR guard down!" Bolt yelled, and the splash fight began. It was an all-out war that raged for several seconds until Naruto called for a truce.
"Alright, alright! You won! If we get any more water on the ground Mom is going to kill us!" Naruto said, shielding his eyes. Bolt laughed.
"You should remember this next time you mess with the strongest ninja ever!" He said, crossing his arms. Naruto laughed at the sight, relaxing his body against the edge of the bathtub and the wall. Bolt picked up his toad again and looked at it.
"Hey, Dad… Do you think I'll ever be able to summon Gamabunta… like actually?" he asked, putting the frog on the edge of the bathtub.
"I'm sure! You just have to work hard!" Naruto said with a thumbs up.
"What about you? Do you think I'll be as strong as you?"
"Of course! The real challenge is being stronger than Mom." He said, getting a laugh out of his son.
The sat there for a minute, Bolt playing with the bubbles, Naruto closing his eyes for a Moment, letting the water soak into his body.
"Are you excited Bolt? You know, to be a big brother?" Naruto asked, his eyes still closed.
"Huh? I mean… yeah, a bit." Bolt said, a slight smile on his face. "I think it'll be cool."
"I'm glad you think so! You have to make sure she stays out of trouble."
"I will, I will! I'll make sure she's a good ninja too!"
"Alright Bolt, I say it's time for us to get out and dry off, yeah?" Naruto said, looking at the clock hanging on the wall. "It's already passed your bedtime."
"What? No way!" Bolt protested.
"C'mon Bolt, I'll even read you a story." Naruto bribed.
"…as long as I get to pick it out."
"And then the lion promised never to hurt anyone ever again." Naruto said, closing the book. "Okay Bolt, it's time for bed now." Naruto said, grabbing his blanket.
"What? No! Just one more please?" Bolt pleaded.
"Bolt I've already read you two stories, I have to go read some to your Mom too!" Naruto said. Bolt thought about how much he liked his Dad reading him stories, and decided Mom needed some too.
"Alright, I guess bedtime isn't so bad." Bolt said, stretching out his body, plopping down on his pillow.
"That sounds like a very grown-up thing to say." Naruto said, ruffling Bolt's hair.
"Hello there, sweetheart." Naruto said with a smile as he closed the door of his bedroom behind him. Hinata was laying on the bed with the lamp on, reading.
"I heard Bolt defeated the evil soap ninja again." She said, looking up from her book and smiling.
"Ya, with the help of his summon, of course." Naruto said, climbing into bed beside her.
"That's good!" She said as she put her book on the nightstand next to her. She turned her head to her husband, who was snuggled down next to her, wrapped around her arm.
"Are you comfy?"
Naruto let out a content sigh. "Oh yes."
They both let out a simultaneous yawn as Hinata slumped down in her pillow more.
"Himawari..." Naruto said, looking down at Hinata's tummy.
"...what about her?" Hinata asked.
"I just really like the name is all." He said with a smile, rubbing her stomach. Hinata smiled and put her hand on his.
"I do too."
There was a Moment of silence between the two as they enjoyed the others company. Hinata started humming a lullaby while playing with Naruto's hair.
"Hey Hinata, you know what else I like?" Naruto said as if it was a joke.
"Hmmm... is it m-" She started.
"It's you!" He said, sitting up and giving her a kiss.
"Well-thank-you!" She said in between his kisses. He pulled away and looked at her face.
"You're very welcome." He said, giving her a kiss on the cheek. His kisses trailed back to her mouth while his hand cupped her cheek. He gave her a little nibble on her bottom lip.
"Mmf... what are you doing?" Hinata asked playfully. Naruto gave her a deeper kiss, and then replied.
"Kissing my wife, is that okay?" He said with a smirk.
"Hmm... only if you keep doing it." She replied, putting a hand behind his neck, leaning him closer to him.
Bolt sat in his bed and thought after his Dad left.
'Hmm... I wonder what stories Dad reads to Mom... probably lovey stories.' He thought, turning to the other side of his bed, looking out the window. The moon was in the sky, and the cold chill outside seemed to seep through his window. He pulled his blanket up closer to his body.
'I wonder if my little sister gets cold... probably not since Mom keeps her warm; Mom is always warm. Does she like Mom?
Mom is the best, I bet she likes Mom.' He continued to think as he grabbed his stuffed frog from the corner of his bed. Bolt remembered picking out this stuffed frog last time he and his Mom went shopping. His Dad came home and loved the toy that he brought home all sorts of frog toys all the time. Bolt didn't mind though, he really liked frogs for some reason.
"I wonder if she'll like frogs too..." He mumbled out loud. He came to a sudden realization.
"What if I have to share my frogs...?" He said, looking around his room. He saw all the different little frog toys and decided he could sacrifice for his sister. He got out of bed and walked around his room, picking up all the frogs, putting them on his bed.
He slowly sorted out the frogs he would keep, and the frogs he would give to her. Surely she'd like the frog with the swirls on its stomach, and the one with its tongue hanging out. The one with the jacket he thought she wouldn't like and the one with the bamboo sword was too dangerous.
After looking at his work he nodded in success. He ran over to his door and opened it, ran back to his bed and scooped them all up in his arms, and ran down to his little sister's vacant room, finding the door closed. He let out a defeated sigh before dropping the frogs, then opening the door. Then he carefully put them back in his arms, as best he could, and put them along the edge of her wall.
"Perfect." He said, admiring his work. He walked back out of the room, yawning as he closed the door behind him. Walking back into his room he laid on top of his frogs, putting his blanket on top of him, and closed his eyes.
Naruto had his tongue in Hinata's mouth as she moaned his name into his. His put his hand on her breast over her clothes, wanting the shirt she was wearing to be piled on the floor and not on her. Hinata said his name again.
"I love when you say my name." He said as he continued kissing.
"Naruto-kun..." She said a bit firmer, drawing Naruto back to his senses.
"Hm, what? Is something wrong?" He said, scanning her body over.
"I-I think my water just broke." She said with a straight face.
"Oh... oh! Oh... okay, okay, okay. I'll uh, I'll call Sakura and I'll wake up Bolt and and you just uh, just stay calm and everything will be good. Okay? Okay." Naruto scrambled around, trying to find something to wear. Hinata just smiled at him.
"Maybe you should just stay calm, I'll call Sakura and you can wake up Bolt, okay?" She said, reaching for the phone on the nightstand.
"Yeah, yeah, okay that sounds good. I'll be back." He said as he left the room, keeping the door open just in case.
"Bolt, hey Bolt buddy, I need you to wake up." Naruto said softly, gently shaking his son.
Bolt could've sworn he just closed his eyes, but nonetheless, he rolled over and rubbed at his eyes, looking up at his Dad's soft smile.
"Is it mornin'?" Bolt asked sleepily.
"Nah, it's way past your bedtime, but that's okay. Anyway, I need you to get dressed real quick." Naruto said as he stood up, picking out clothes for his son to wear.
"...Why?" Bolt asked, swinging his legs off his bed, knocking a frog with him.
Naruto handed him the clothes he grabbed.
"Easy, we have to go pick up your sister." He said, giving him a bigger smile. He saw Bolt give a smile similar to his before he left him to change.
"So Sakura is going to meet us there and Sasuke will take Bolt back with him and no Bolt will stay with them for a while." Hinata said, making sure all the lights were off.
"Mooom, I don't want to stay with Sarada! She's no fun at all." Bolt protested.
"Sorry Bolt, but you're not going to want to stay with us, that'd really be no fun." Naruto said, picking up his son in one arm.
"Are you sure you don't want me carrying you?" He asked Hinata with his eyebrows furrowed.
"Oh no, I'm fine." She said with asked smile on her face. "I haven't started contractions yet, but as soon as I do, I'll let you carry me then, okay?" She added on.
"Dad, what are cont... rac-" Bolt started.
"Just grown up stuff." He said, opening the door for his wife, closing it behind them.
Naruto ended up carrying Hinata the last fourth of the way to the hospital, while Bolt was on his shoulders. The sight of him carrying his entire family was enough to make even Sasuke scoff.
"Look who still decides to be the hero." Sasuke smirked as Naruto entered the doors.
"Hey! I'm just doing what's right!" Naruto barked back, gently putting Hinata down.
"Where's Sarada?" Hinata asked Sakura as she rolled her a wheelchair to sit in.
"She's back in my office sleeping." She said as they made their way to a room without their husbands paying attention.
"I bet she's perfectly fine to walk!" Sasuke protested.
"So? I don't want her straining herself!" Naruto fought back.
"I could have walked!" Bolt said, kicking his Dad's chest.
"Bolt! You can't betray me and side with Sasuke that is so mean!" Naruto said, looking at his son in shock.
"Heh, I'm glad your son got his brains from his Mom." Sasuke commented.
"But he gets his strength from me! Right Hinata-" Naruto turned to find his wife not where he left her. He turned his face to the nurse behind the desk and she sheepishly pointed down the hall.
"Room 126." Were the only thing she said.
Naruto ran into the room to find Sakura helping Hinata into the bed.
"Sorry, we got caught up." Naruto said, putting Bolt on the ground.
"Hm? Oh sorry, Sakura was just telling me some things." Hinata said with a smile, not noticing her husband's absence.
"Dad, can I lay on the bed with Mom?" Bolt said, pulling Naruto's head back.
"Sure you can, come here." Hinata said, opening her arms towards him. He scrambled off his father and jumped onto the bed with his Mom, sitting by her side. She grabbed his hand and brought it up to kiss it, since she couldn't reach his head.
"Mom, you're squeezing my hand kind of hard." Bolt said, looking up at her. He noticed that her face got more serious and her breathing was deeper.
"Mom?" Bolt said again. Hinata's expression changed in a second, releasing her son's hand.
"Oh! Sorry sweetie!" She said.
"Are they starting to hurt more?" Naruto said, walking over and putting his hand on her shoulder.
"Just a bit." She said with a slightly pained smile.
"Mom, are you hurt?" Bolt said worriedly.
"Oh no, I'm just fine." She said, patting his head. Bolt looked back at his father.
"I don't think Mom is okay." He told him. Naruto slightly laughed at his comment.
"Mom'll be just fine. She's tougher than me, remember?" Naruto told him. "Hinata, rest your back against the bed okay, I'll take Bolt." He said directing his words towards Hinata, and she did as he suggested.
"Wait, take me? I'm not leaving Mom!" Bolt yelled in the small room, grabbing his Mom's arms, putting on a pout.
"Bolt I know you want to stay, but we will probably be here a while." Naruto said, trying to lift him off the bed, but he refused.
"No! I want to stay with Mom!" He continued. Naruto was about to protest again, but Hinata interrupted.
"Now Bolt, look at Mom." He turned his head. "I'm going to be fine, okay? You don't need to worry. But Mom and Dad have important stuff to do to make sure your sister gets here just fine."
"… Is it grown up stuff?" Bolt asked with a sigh. He hated grown up stuff since it meant he couldn't be there. Hinata nodded her head.
Bolt hugged her, standing up and wrapping his arms around her neck, and her arms bringing him in as close as she could.
"I love you, Mom." He said into her neck.
"I love you too" she said, kissing his cheek. She pulled away from their hug as Naruto grabbed Bolt off the bed.
"I love you just as much." He said, kissing his forehead.
"Love you too Dad." Bolt replied before being let down next to Sasuke. He looked up and saw his Dad had his serious face on, taking to Sasuke. Bolt wished he was taller so he could hear what they were saying.
"You make sure to take good care of my son or I swear you won't have anything to make your own." Naruto threatened quietly. Sasuke just scoffed at him.
"Don't worry, dobe. He'll be fi-." He replied, looking at his face, but the face he was making had him stop before he could finish. This wasn't a normal look Naruto was giving him. It looked stern and forceful, but also helpless and worried at the same time.
"Y-yeah." Sasuke said. Naruto gave his friend a smile, and then a hug.
"Thank you, Sasuke." He said. Sasuke smiled internally.
"Yeah, yeah, just don't think I'm going to go around and do favors for you all the time and be your personal baby sitter." Sasuke said jokingly while pulling away from the hug. Naruto took one last time to talk to his son.
"Be good for him, okay? Don't get in too much trouble. And when I pick you up, you'll have a new sister that'll want to meet you." He told him.
"Y-yeah! I'll do my best to be good!" Bolt said, straightening up.
"That's good to hear." Naruto said, kissing his forehead one more time. "Love you Bolt."
"L-love you too." He replied, and then looked around his Dad shoulder to see his Mom.
"Love you Momma!" He yelled. Bolt didn't hear the words come out of her mouth, but he saw her say them, and that was good enough for him.
Sasuke tapped his shoulder, pointing him towards the door. Slowly he turned around and walked out. Sasuke grabbed the door shut, and the last thing Bolt saw was his Dad run back over to his Mom. Sasuke saw him staring at the door after he already shut it.
'Jeez, this'll be a fun day or so.' Sasuke thought in his head. "Don't worry about your parents, they've both been through a lot worse before." He said as he started walking towards Sakura's office, making sure Bolt was following behind.
"Like,… what kind of stuff?" Bolt said, jogging to keep up with Sasuke's strides.
"Well… like losing you Uncle Neji was hard, especially on your Mom." He said, closing his stride up a bit so Bolt didn't have to run.
"Oh yeah… what was Uncle Neji like?" Bolt asked.
Sasuke almost stopped moving to think. He never really knew Neji that well, but he did know a few things.
"He was very strong… and he loved your mother a lot, and in the end he gave his life protecting your parents back during the war." He said, grabbing the doorknob of his wife's office.
Bolt didn't know what 'the war' was, but he knew everyone talked about it from time to time, and that it was sad, and nothing like it ever needs to happen again. He imagined that it was sad because his uncle died during it.
"Sarada, c'mon, it's time to go home." Sasuke said, tapping his daughter on the shoulder. She opened her eyes a bit, and without even saying a word, he lifted her arms up.
"What? You want me to carry you?" Sasuke asked jokingly. He watched as she shook her head slowly, closing her eyes again.
"Alright, c'mere." He said, hooking in with one arm, turning off the light and closing the door again.
It was at this Moment that Bolt realized how tired he was too. He let out a yawn and stretched his body, rubbing one of his eyes. Sasuke looked down at him.
"Are you tired too?" He asked, and then looked at the clock. '12:07,… jeez.' He thought.
"I guess there's no helping it." He said as he grabbed Bolt in his other open arm and walked down the vacant halls of the hospital, thinking how stupid Naruto looked when he walked in, comparing it to how he looked now.
They passed the room that Bolt knew his parents were in as he tried his best to hear what was happening behind the door, but all he heard was his Dad's voice saying something he couldn't distinguish.
'Love you' he thought as Sasuke carried him out of the hospital, towards his home.
Sasuke looked at the door in front of him, and then turned his head side to side to look at the two sleeping children he had in his arms, and then mentally thought about where his key was.
'Shit… how am I going to open this damn door?' he thought.
Slowly he shifted Bolt over his other arm, supporting him and Sarada both with one arm as he reached in his pocket and dug out his key. He jammed it into the door while mentally cursing.
'Shit Naruto, how much does this kid weigh?'
Finally Sasuke got the door open and flung his key on the entryway table, kicking the door closed softly, not to wake the kids in his arm. He shifted Bolt back over with a content sigh.
'Perfect.' He thought.
He walked down the hallway, making a left towards Sarada's room, placing her in her bed, giving her a kiss on the cheek. He went across the hallway and put Bolt down in the guest bedroom, putting a blanket on top of him. Looking at Bolt's face, he laughed internally.
Bolt's mouth was open wide as he was asleep, one hand above his head, the other handing off the edge of the bed.
'I bet the dobe sleeps like that too.' Sasuke thought before closing the door. He looked back at Sarada and decided to go back into her room, getting on his knees next to her. He admired her hair. It was dark, like his; but it was as soft and shiny as her mother's. He hated that he couldn't be in her life for more than a few months at a time, but he knew she loved him no matter what, he just hoped she knew he loved her too.
He got up, kissing her cheek again, whispering 'I love you', and turned to leave when he heard her mumble something.
"Hmm?" He said, looking back at her.
"I want you to sleep in here." She mumbled a bit louder. For some reason it made Sasuke's heart warm to hear his daughter say that.
"Yeah, I'd love to." He said, scooting her over so he could also lie down. She snuggled into his side with a smile, and Sasuke moved the blanket on top of her, relaxing his own body.
Sasuke woke to his own wife's voice.
"Sasuke, wake up." She whispered, trying not to wake her daughter.
"Hmm?" he said, focusing his vision on her. "Oh! Sakura, your back. What time is it?" He whispered.
"It's 10:30 in the morning." She replied, taking a seat at the end of the bed.
"10:30? We should get up if it's that late!" He said, still not raising his voice above a whisper. Sakura laughed.
"The two kids had a long night, let them sleep a while longer." She said.
"I can only do that if you be quiet." Sarada mumbled, her eyes still closed.
"Sorry dear, I didn't mean to wake you." Sakura said, walking over and giving her a kiss. "Dad and I will continue our conversation somewhere else."
"Thank you." She mumbled back.
Sakura and Sasuke, after sliding Sarada off of him, went to their own bedroom to talk about what happened.
"So did everything go well?" He asked her, taking a seat on the bed.
"Oh yeah! It was just longer than her first one was, which was surprisingly short." She explained.
"I see. How long do we have the kid?" Sasuke asked, pointing in the general direction of where Bolt would be.
"Well, we will probably have him until this evening. That's when they can take her home." She said, sitting down next to him.
"A whole other day?" He said with a slight whine in his voice.
"Sasuke on the outside you seem not to like him, but I bet you really like him." She accused, pointing her finger at him.
"What? He so loud and annoying!" he protested.
"So is his Dad, and you two are best friends."
Sasuke admitted she had a point. There was a Moment of silence as Sakura changed out of her hospital clothes, and into something more relaxing.
"They named her Himawari." She said, tying the band of her sweatpants.
"… cute." He replied.
"She has Hinata's hair, and Naruto's eyes, and she shares the whisker marks her brother has."
"I bet she'll hate those marks eventually." He said, lying down on the bed.
"You should have seen them, Sasuke. Naruto was crying and was too tired to even hold her, so she had him wrap around her so she could see her. It was really sweet. If Bolt was there it'd have been a great family memory of them together." She said, lying next to him.
Sasuke could see the scenario in his head. He smiled at the thought of his best friend acting so weak like that, but he did the same thing with his daughter.
"He kind of reminded me of you." She said, rolling on her side.
"Yeah, I was thinking the same thing." He said. As he turned to face her as well there was a knock at their bedroom door.
"Mom, Dad?" Sarada said from the other side.
Sakura sat up, saying come in.
"Bolt an I wanted breakfast." She said calmly, while Bolt was behind her saying breakfast over and over again. Sakura smiled at them.
"Alright, I'm coming." She said, almost getting up before Sasuke grabbed her arm.
"Don't worry about it, I'll take care of it. You can get some sleep, since you've been up for so long." He said while getting up instead of her. She sighed happily.
"Thank you." She said, getting herself under the blanket.
The sun was starting to set in the west as Sasuke and Bolt were outside. All day Bolt was pestering him to train him to be stronger, since his Dad would always take it easy on him. Finally Sasuke said he would, taking him to the front yard. Bolt kept throwing punches with no rhythm, and Sasuke kept deflecting them, giving him a few taps with his own fist here and there.
"C'mon Uncle Sasuke, I know you can hit harder than that!" Bolt yelled, trying to get something out of Sasuke.
"I know I can too, I'm just not going to." He said as he reflected one of Bolt's fists.
"C'mon! Dad won't ever train seriously with me, and you won't either!?" He yelled as Sasuke deflected another punch, admitting to himself that it hurt; whether it was from the force, or just deflecting so many he wasn't sure. Bolt's technique and position were about as good as one's could be at his age, but he did have some force behind those little punches.
"You're just going to have to wait until you get older. Learn chakra control, then I'll fight you." He said, this time catching his fist in his hand. Bolt gave him a nervous look. Sasuke decided to just release his hand.
"Fine…" Bolt sighed, slightly annoyed.
"Bolt, you don't want your father seeing you all defeated like this, would yo-" Sasuke started. As if on cue, a voice yelled at them.
"Oiii Bolt!" Naruto yelled, walking up from the end of the road.
Bolt looked at the direction of the voice and saw his Dad's familiar orange jacket and black pants, he even was wearing his red scarf on account of the chilliness outside. Giving a smile, he ran towards him.
"Dad! Dad I'm so happy to see you!" Bolt yelled, hugging on his leg.
"Heh, I'm glad to see you too!" He replied, picking him up in his arms, giving him a bear hug.
"What took you forever?" Bolt asked him.
"Me? Well… I had to make sure your Mom and sister were comfy at home before I came to get you." He said.
Bolt's eyes lit up.
"She's here? She's finally here?!" He said excitedly.
"Ya she's here!" He said just as excited as his son as he stopped next to Sasuke.
"He demanded I train him." Sasuke said, showing Naruto his reddened hands.
"Wha- Sasuke what did you do to him?" Naruto said concerned. Bolt laughed.
"No Dad I did that!" Bolt said, pointing to Sasuke's red hands.
"Oh really? You almost had him too, am I right?" Naruto said jokingly, to which his son replied.
"Yep!" Naruto and Bolt shared a smile of confidence, and then he turned his attention back to Sasuke.
"Well, I'm officially relieving you of your duties." Naruto said with a half-assed salute.
"Don't get ahead of yourself, you aren't Hokage yet." Sasuke scoffed.
"Hey! I will be, Kakashi already appointed me his successor! He just has to retire." Naruto said the last bit softer than the rest. Sasuke let out a sly laugh.
"Whatever, dobe. Just go ad enjoy your family." Sasuke said, walking back towards his house.
"I will teme!" Naruto yelled back, to which Sasuke just waved before retiring inside. Naruto turned around and started a light jog back home, Bolt on his shoulders.
"Dad, what's a teme?" Bolt asked, to which Naruto simply said "Something that is never said in front of Mom."
They passed the hospital on the way to their home, Bolt asking more questions.
"So what happened after I left, Dad? You can tell me, I'm a grown up!" He demanded. Naruto let out a chuckle.
"Well, Mom and I signed some stuff, and then they gave us your baby sister." Naruto said plainly.
"… That's it? What took forever?" Bolt replied. Naruto was silent for a second, trying to come up with an answer.
"Well, the line was long for baby sisters." He said, hoping Bolt would believe him.
"… Makes sense." Bolt said, placing his chin down on his father's head. Naruto was glad he bought it.
They turned one more corner and their house was in view. Bolt tried to yell for his Mom like he normally does when coming home, but Naruto stopped him.
"Bolt, you have to be quiet, Himawari might be sleeping." Naruto said as he started slowing down, nearing the front door.
"Who's Himawari?" Bolt replied.
"That's the name of your sister." Naruto explained, forgetting they only officially picked the name three days ago.
"Himawari… I like it!" Bolt said with a thumbs up.
"Yeah, me too." He said with a smile, unlocking the door and letting Bolt in first.
"Now she should be with your mother in our room." Naruto said, leading him up the stairs. He gently knocked on the door.
"Hinata, I'm back with Bolt." Naruto said quietly.
"You two can come in, she's awake." They heard her say from the other side of the door. Naruto smiled again, opening the door. He walked in, Bolt trailing behind him, looking at his mother's face. It wasn't like he last saw her. She looked amazing. Her hair was gently swept back, her face was radiant, and in her arms was something wrapped up.
Naruto lay down in his normal spot, while Bolt still tried to peek at what his mother had in her arms.
"Hey there, Himawari, there's someone else we'd like you to meet, his name is Bolt." Hinata said.
"Mhmm, he's your big brother. He's promised both of us that he's going to take really good care of you." Naruto continued.
"He's going to protect you."
"Help you."
"And love you as much as we do." Hinata said. Naruto looked at Bolt, who was still at the edge of his father's side, not on the bed.
"Isn't that right, Bolt?" Naruto asked. Bolt shook his head.
"Yeah…" He said, not really paying attention to what his Dad said, but still, Naruto grabbed him and put him up on the bed to meet her.
Bolt looked at her tiny face. Her tiny face, with her tiny nose, tiny fingers, and her tiny eyes, staring at him.
"Heh… Hey Himawari. I'm Bolt. I hope you like frogs, because I have a lot to share." Bolt said, grabbing her little hand, which grabbed back at his. He let out an elated gasp, looking at his Mom.
"It seems she likes you." She said with a smile.
"Really Mom?" He asked, looking back at her.
"Of course she does, who wouldn't want you as a big brother?" Naruto answered.
Bolt continued to watch her squirm around, making little noises as her eyes moved around the room. Bolt thought that no matter where she looked, she would always focus her glare back on him. He was happy to have a sister. And he hoped she was happy with him, and by the way she kept looking at him, he was sure she did.
"Can I hold her Mom?" Bolt asked, still mesmerized by his little sister. Hinata smiled at him.
"Of course you can, just let Mom and Dad help." She said, straightening her back. Naruto patted the bed farther back, telling Bolt to sit there. His Mom was on his left side, and his Dad to the right.
"Now, hold your arms like this." Naruto said, making a cradle with his arms.
"This?" Bolt asked in his attempt.
"Perfect, just keep the elbow up. Her head needs to be supported." He said as Hinata placed her in his arms. Naruto had his hand under the middle of Himawari, leaning some of her weight off of Bolts arms, and Hinata helped support her head.
"There we go." She said, kissing her son's temple.
Bolt watched as Himawari stared at him.
He could have sworn she was smiling.
Waaaaa there's the end! It's finished, it's finished! And it's also the longest chapter I've written!
Well everyone, this is the end. There's no more But I still encourage you that if you liked this fic, follow me as an author, because if I write something 9/10 it's a romance family something or other because I'm terrible at coming up with action adventures.
Sorry it got super sappy at the end, but the titanic theme was playing and I just couldn't stop.
But thank you so so much for everyone who favorites, follows, and reviews. It means the world to me.
