Chapter: Home

After Captain Waggoner and his men fought off the Nazis, they had continued through the land. The Fury crew had been put into an ambulance truck. They were transported back to the nearest base camp to be medically treated.

Nayla had been moving around the building and keeping a close eye on the Fury crew. She heard Grady got a mild infection in his leg. The medical staff would need to keep a close eye on his leg so it did not get to the point of amputation. Gordo, Bible, Norman and Nayla were treated for dehydration. As for Don, he was constantly complaining about being stuck in bed with a stab wound through the shoulder.

She walked over to where Don was and saw him upright in bed with an arm sling. His head was leaned back against the wall behind the bed and his eyes were closed.

"Don."

Radiant blue eyes snapped open and were upon her. A sense of relief and happiness appeared in his eyes upon the sight of her, which made her to smile. She made a move to sit on the bed beside him causing him to move a little over to give her room.

Don wrapped his good arm around her and she laid her head onto his chest. She felt his lips against the top of her head. Then he placed his chin on top of her head.

"How is everyone doing?" Don asked.

"Physically, everyone is doing good." Nayla lifted her head up causing Don to pull back and stare down at her.

"Norman?" Don questioned.

Nayla nodded as she thought about the young man.

"Both Norman and Grady. Bible and Gordo are hiding behind a tough mask, but I can see we are all bother about what had happened. It could have been worst if Captain Waggoner had not shown up."

"Yeah, it would have been much worst." Don mumbled, shooting a glare at the doctor who was walking by and open his mouth to say something.

"Don."

"I dare them to fucking say something. You are my woman, we are all hurt and tired. I deserve to have you in my arms. Hell if I could we could be—"

"Do not finish that sentence Collier." Nayla glared at him playfully.

Don smirked and pressed his lips against her forehead then pulled back.

"So, Norman and Grady?"

"Norman is physically, emotionally and mentally drained. Everything he had witnessed and gone through, well I think it is crashing down on him. As for Grady, I think he is nervous over his leg and cannot picture himself without it."

"How is his leg?"

"It is good so far. No infections have set in yet."

"Thanks to a wonderful medic with have." Gordo said while he walked on by with a smirk.

Both Don and Nayla eyes followed after Gordo. They saw him walk up to a nurse, leaning against the wall and began to give the nurse a charming smile. It made Don and Nayla to look at one another and then they started to laugh.

"Seems like he is getting back to his old self." Don chuckled, shaking his head.

"Guess so."

Nayla laid her head back down on Don, and shut her eyes as he began to hum a low tone underneath his breath. He hummed for a good while until he came to a stop causing her to open her eyes and tilted her head back to stare up at him.

"I thought you had fallen asleep." Don said lowly.

"No, I was enjoying the humming." Nayla replied.

She traced her left hand fingertips along his chest.

A hand came to wrap around her own and lifted it upwards. Nayla stared at Don and her joined hands before her eyes flickered up to his, seeing him staring at their hands.

"The war is coming to an end."

"Yes, it is."

"And when it does, does the offer still stand about coming home with you." Don looked away from their hands to stare directly at her with a calm expression.

A small smile graced her lips.

"Do you have to ask, Don?"

A smile came onto Don's lips before he let out a chuckle and bowed his head, pressing his lips against her head once more.

..

..

..

Recovery period was a bit long for both Don and Grady, but they managed to be ready to fight again. Yet when the time came, there was not much more to fight. The allies were taking over and the war was coming to an end. It was a clear sight about them winning and the war ending.

The Fury tank had somehow made its way back in the crew's possession with some needs of repair, and the crew were all together again. They had almost been separated due to everyone was in good conditions, except Don and Grady. But a few harsh and honest words from Don, and Captain Waggoner stuck up for them, the crew stuck together until they were all recovered.

Their mission was to move alongside Captain Waggoner's battalion and to help liberate the camps and neighborhoods. They moved throughout the lands and done their best to help in every way possible, and then one day they got the message about how the Nazis surrendered.

A major celebration spread throughout everyone as the war had finally come to an end.

Nayla smiled as she watched Grady, Bible and Gordo fought over a bottle of liquor, wanting to celebrate as much as possible. She shook her head and let out a small laugh. An arm came around her shoulder and her eyes flicker upward to meet Don's ocean blue eyes.

"Hey." Don smirked.

"Hey to you back." Nayla smiled before she found herself in a kiss with Don.

"WOOO!"

"Find a room you two!"

They pulled back to see Grady and Gordo were the ones to shout and sent a wink at them. Nayla rolled her eyes and Don simply shook his head as Grady began to go off in explicit rant before he walked off with Gordo to go do whatever they do.

Don dropped his arm from around Nayla's shoulder and grabbed her hand. Her eyes flickered to him and her eyebrows rose as he began to lead her away from the loud crowd celebrating their victory. When Don glanced back at her with a cunning gleam in his eyes, she could not help but smiled widely, knowing what was going on through his mind.

There was an abandoned house, where Don pulled her inside and locked up the place. He checked it out and when everything was clear, Don faced her. There were no words exchange, only her walking forward into Don's arms, where they wrapped around each other in a passionate embrace and disappeared into the bedroom.

..

A Couple Months Later

..

"We are all to stay in contact, got that." Don pointed at the crew.

They all stood on the deck of the boat, knowing they were getting closer to docking at home. They had been discussing about what they would do when they got home, and how they would need to stay in touch with each other. They reminisce about what they missed about home and who they missed, especially their family and friends.

"Yeah, yeah, we got it." Grady waved his hand, but smirked when Don shot him a hard look.

The men broke up and Don was off to the side in a conversation with Bible. Nayla noted how Norman walked away from the center of the deck and to the railing, clenching it and staring off at the deep blue ocean water. Slowly, Nayla made her way toward the young man and came to stand beside him, her hands resting on the railing.

"What is going through that mind of yours, Norman?" Nayla asked in a soft tone, pale mint green eyes flickering over to the young man.

"I do not think I will be the same Norman returning home to his parents, Nayla."

Reaching out with her left hand, Nayla laid her hand on top of Norman's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. He looked at her with unshed tears.

"We all saw so much Norman, I do not think any of us will be returning home as the same person we once were before the war. There will be struggles in our lives now, that much is most likely true, and we need to seek out help with whoever or whatever is around us." Nayla explained to him.

Nayla knew war changes everyone, and she was no different. She knew she was a different individual after this war, and she knew there will be struggling moments throughout life. But she prayed for the fact she was returning home to her family and Don. She would pray they would help her when she was struggling, and she knew she would help Don along the way too.

"Norman, Don and I will be around. Gives us a call or letter, and we will be there for you. Maybe you should come visit us on the Island."

A small grin came onto Norman's lips and he gave her a small nod.

"Come here." Nayla said, holding open her arms.

"Motherly side coming out?" Norman joked.

"Yeah." Nayla chuckled and pulled Norman into her arms.

Norman's arms were loose around her but then tighten up.

"I hope you are not trying to make moves on my woman, Norman."

Immediately Norman was out of Nayla's arms, sputtering and trying to get words out to Don. Nayla sighed. She shot Don a glare when Don started to snicker. Realizing Don was messing with him, Norman calmed down and let out a relief sigh. Don slapped the young man on the shoulder before he grasped Norman's shoulder to give it a good shake.

"I'm messing with you Norman." Don told him.

"I know, sir."

"Sir? I believe we are heading home, Norman. Either call me Wardaddy, Don or Collier." Don stated, taking a step back from Norman to stand beside Nayla.

Norman blinked rapidly and opened his mouth, but closed it. He then gave a small grin and a firm nod. Don chuckled and Nayla smiled.

"I will call you by your name when we step onto our homeland." Norman said.

"Sounds like a plan." Don said, slapping Norman on the shoulder and then reaching back to grab Nayla's hand.

Nayla gave Norman a pat on the arm. She clenched Don's hand and together they walked around the ship, enjoying the sunny day and the ocean view.

..

..

..

The scenery flashed on by, and the smile would not leave Nayla's face. Happiness and excitement flowed through her at the thought of being back on the homeland and heading home to her family, especially her little boy Tristan.

The heavy weight on her lap made her to look away from the window of the train to stare at Don. He fell asleep on her lap while she had been running her left hand through his hair in a soft caressing manner. She was happy he would be coming back home with her.

Back at the train station, she questioned him if he wanted to go back to his home and gather anything, but he told her there was nothing left for him. He admitted to her he did not expect to come home. Therefore, he did not care what had happened to anything back home. Now he was home, and he stated he needed to start a new chapter in his life with her.

Turning her head back toward the window, she continued to watch the scenery pass. She was too excited to fall asleep.

The train was moving steadily through the land. It had left the station in Boston about two hours ago. She could tell by certain sceneries they had another hour to go on the train. She could not wait to arrive back to the island, and hug her little one. Her eyes flickered back down to stare at Don, and a thought came into her mind.

She wondered if they would have a child together.

A small grin came onto her lips. She would not mind another little one. A boy or a girl with Don's eyes and his smile. The thought made her grin to widen into a smile. The thought of a life with Don, and a new chapter in both their lives.

For a few more moments, she let the thoughts float around her mind. The grin still on her lips. She blinked quickly to bring herself back to reality, and continued to grin down at Don.

Nayla leaned downwards, and somehow managed to lay a gentle kiss against the side of Don's forehead. When she pulled back, she heard a sharp intake of air from Don. A small inaudible mumble escaped him, and soon he turned onto his back. His eyes fluttered open, and he blinked a few times in a slow manner.

"Hey." Nayla smiled down at him.

"Hey back." Don grinned, lifting his head a little off her lap and laid it back down, adjusting his head against the top of her thighs.

"Did you have a nice nap?"

"Yeah, I did. How long was I out?"

"Around two hours or so." She answered.

Don eyebrows perked up at the time he slept. His face relaxed, and he brought his hands up to rub them down his face. He let out a yawn, and dropped his hands from his face. His eyes were staring back up at her.

"Did you sleep at all?"

"No, I think I am too excited." She smiled.

A low hum escaped from Don.

"You should be." Don grinned before he let out a grunt as he sat up.

Nayla moved her legs a little, feeling the after effect of Don laying on her legs for two hours. She rubbed the top of her thighs, feeling slight pins and needles through her thighs. Wiggling her toes in her shoes, she felt her legs were back to normal. She hated when her legs would fall asleep. The numb feeling of pins and needles was not a sensation she enjoyed.

An arm wiggled itself behind her back, and she held back a laugh when Don pulled her against his side. He pressed his lips against her jawline, and then her neck. He pulled back after the kisses, and pulled her against him until she rested her head against his chest. His chin rested gently on top of her head.

Together they watched the scenery pass by. Their excitement to be on the island could not come soon enough.

..

Two Hours Later

..

Water smacked against the side of the steamboat as it cut through the ocean waters at a reasonable pace.

There was a great amount of exhilaration in Nayla's eyes. But also, her whole posture as she was literally bouncing on the balls of her feet when the island was coming closer and closer.

Don chuckled when she began to mutter about the boat needing to be faster. He wrapped his arm around her, and reached up to turn her head to face him. Her eyes shot up to meet his, and he bent down to press his forehead against her own.

"I need to keep a hold of you. I am worry you will jump into the water and swim the rest of the way to the island." Don joked.

She gave him a playful smack against this side, and leaned up to press her lips against his own. Their kiss began to deepen until they realized where they were. Pulling a part, Nayla eyed him through her dark eyelashes.

"I might swim faster than this boat."

A chuckle escaped from they both, and they lifted their heads away from each other.

"I am just so excited to hug my little one."

"Yeah." Don nodded, holding her close against his side.

..

..

Don stared ahead where the Island of Martha's Vineyard came closer. This would be his new home. This will be his new chapter with Nayla and her family. Being in the war for so long, Don had only a bag filled with a certain amount of attire and a few items. It was the only thing he had left. He did not have a home to go back to anymore. He assumed his parents either left their home they had put on the market when he had gone to war, or they were not around anymore. He did not know.

When he was in the hospital overseas, Nayla and he discussed about their lives together after the war. The result of their conversation was Don would help Nayla's father out with the wine business. He would help with the management and business deals. Nayla made a point to him about being good when it came to strategizing. Thus, he had thought about mentioning to Nayla's father, once he gets to know him better, about opening a brewery too. It would bring even more revenue, especially during the summer when it was tourist time.

The ship entered the harbor, and slowed up until it came close to the sides of the docking area. Nayla practically dragged him away from the railing, and he almost lost hold of their luggage. He chuckled as they were the first ones to stand at one of the few doors to get off the boat.

The moment the ships was docked, the ropes were all tied, and the doors were pulled open, Nayla was off the boat in under a second. Don could only shake his head and walked fast after her, keeping an eye on her through the various group of people. The groups consisted of people waiting for the steamboat so they could board and go back onto the mainland. Other groups were relatives or friends, waiting for their loved ones or friends to come off the boat.

"There they are, grandpa!" Don heard from over the crowd of people.

His eyes flickered around, and he saw a boy sitting on top of an older man's shoulder. Although the boy was soon lowered to the ground, and Don heard the boy yell.

"MOM!"

In that moment, Don smiled and knew this was Tristan. This was Nayla's little one. Don came to a stop, and watched the sight of mother and son reuniting.

"Tristan!" Nayla sprinted toward her nine year old son.

Nayla knelt down on the ground as Tristan ran into her arms. She held him tightly, and began to cry. Don felt himself swallow a bit harder than usual, feeling the emotions building in him.

The reunion of mother and son was getting to him. His eyes flicker up toward the sky, shutting his eyes and thinking how he manage to get his crew home. His head lowered, and his eyes open back up to land on Nayla. He began to think how Nayla came into his Fury crew lives and his, and how much she changed all of them. She also saved their ass quite a few times. But she had changed him, and struck him with her personality and eyes. She was everything he wanted, and he could not believe his luck he had her by his side from now and forever.

There were people around the area who watched the reunion with smiles. Some even got teary eyed.

Don moved forward some more until he came to a stop when he stood about three feet from Nayla and her son. His eyes flickered upwards when he saw two older individuals step forward. Nayla stood up from Tristan, and she was soon embraced in a tight hug by these two older people, who had tears streaking down their cheeks. Immediately, Don knew these two were Nayla's parents.

When they pulled a part, the older woman looked away from Nayla and stared directly at him. He felt himself stand a bit taller, and tried to keep a calm expression. He hoped he did not have a hard and cold expression on his face, the one facial expression he commonly used when he was in the war.

"Is this Don?" The older woman asked with a gentle voice.

Don could see the resemblance between the mother and daughter. The facial structure, the color of their hair and a tone of voice which brought calmness.

"Yes, it is. Mom, dad, and Tristan, this is Don Collier, also, known as Wardaddy from the letters. Don this is my mom, Isabelle or Belle. My dad, Viktor, and this handsome boy is Tristan." Nayla introduced, her hands resting on Tristan's shoulders.

With a steady breath, Don had taken a step forward. He lowered Nayla and his luggage before he held out his hand toward her parents.

"Pleasure to finally meet you."

"Oh please dear, no handshakes with me." Belle waved and stepped forward, pulling Don into a hug.

Nayla let out a small laugh at his surprised look. But soon he chuckled and returned the hug with Nayla's mother, Belle. When he pulled back, he turned and faced Viktor, Nayla's father. Once again Don held out his hand, and Viktor grabbed ahold. It was a strong handshake with a small pat on his shoulder.

When he let go of Viktor's hand, Don felt himself take in another steady breath. He felt the next introduction was the real test. Slowly, he turned on his boot heels and faced his final test. He knelt down in front of Tristan. Don saw how Tristan eyed him, studying everything about him.

"You are with my mom?" Tristan questioned with raised eyebrows.

"Yes."

"You make her happy. So I like you. As long as you keep her happy, I will like you." Tristan smiled.

A chuckle could not help but escape all the adults.

"Smart man." Don grinned and held his hand out to Tristan.

Tristan smiled and shook his hand. When he let go of Don's hand, Tristan stared up at Nayla.

"Mom, can I get a haircut like Don?" Tristan asked.

A smile came onto Nayla's lips, and she glanced away from her son to stare directly at him. Don simply returned her smile, and shrugged his shoulders. He was happy he had got her son's approval, and by the looks of it, so far he had her parents approval too.

"We will see." Nayla replied.

A clap of the hands made everyone's attention to be drawn onto Belle.

"Let us go to the car. I am preparing a nice home cook meal as a welcome back and thank you for your service."

"Dessert too?" Nayla asked.

"Of course, dear."

As Don bent down, and picked up the bags again, he felt a painful tug in his shoulder. He held back a hiss of pain, and knew he would need to continue to do rehabilitation with his shoulder. The stab had been deep. He must have made a face because the next moment, Viktor appeared by his side and had taken the bags from him.

"Sir…" Don started, but stopped as Viktor shook his head.

"Please, I got it, and call me Viktor." Viktor grinned.

Don nodded, and walked after Viktor toward the car.

..

Throughout the whole ride, Don was taking in his new surroundings. He could not believe he was back on American soil again. It felt good to be home. But it felt even better to be back with his lover. His eyes flickered over to Nayla, and he thought how he hoped she would accept with being his future wife.

The thought of her becoming his wife brought a wave of happiness in him. He stared at her with a smile, watching her interact with Tristan. She was holding Tristan against her, and listening intently at everything Tristan was telling her about everything happening on the island and much more.

The sight of Nayla and Tristan interacting began to make Don to think more of the future. He began to picture her holding Tristan in one arm and in the other arm would be their son or daughter, and she would be pregnant with a third on the way. She would continue to be a wonderful mother to all their children. He could picture their children being a mixture of them both. The thought of the future made Don to continue to smile, but also, he held back a chuckle. He could not believe he had these thoughts, but it felt nice. He would have never thought he would have the chance to have these thoughts about a future family. Thoughts of a future wife he love to spend the rest of his life with.

When Nayla glanced away from Tristan and stared at him, she returned his smile before her attention was back on Tristan. Although Tristan stopped talking and looked forward. It made Don to look forward to see a home coming in view after driving down a gravel driveway cutting through the woods.

"We are home!" Tristan exclaimed.

The car pulled up in front of the house, and was shut off.

The sight of the house made Don to hold back from dropping his mouth.

The house was surrounded by woods and the ocean, and there were stone walls around the yard. He could see the backyard was a decent size, but he could hear the ocean behind it. The yard was away from neighbors, and the family had their privacy.

The house was two stories with a farmers' porch wrapped around the front of the house, and along one of the sides to the back. There was another house diagonally off to the side and slightly behind the main house. Don had a feeling it was the guest house. What stuck out to Don about the guest house was the back left corner of the guest house had a tower. He could see good sizes windows at the top of it, most likely staring out at the vast ocean.

When they got out of the car, Don stepped up beside Nayla.

"You weren't lying when you said comfortably." Don mumbled.

Nayla gave him a small grin, and bent down to lift Tristan into her arms.

"Welcome home, Don." Nayla said softly.

Don looked away from the house, and stared at her with soften eyes.

"Welcome home, Nayla."

..

..

Viktor carried the luggages into the house while Nayla, Don, Belle and Tristan followed behind. When they entered the house, Tristan began to wiggle in her arms. Nayla set him down, and he ran after Viktor.

With her parents walking further into the house, Nayla turned to face Don. She grabbed his left hand and stepped closer to him.

"Come, we are not staying in the main house."

"We got the guest house?" Don's eyebrow rose.

"Yes, we are." Nayla smiled.

Viktor appeared before them, and handed her the guest house keys.

"After dinner, I will bring the luggage over."

"Okay. Thanks, dad." Nayla replied, and dragged Don out of the house.

The two walked along the walkway and across the gravel driveway. They stepped back on a walkway which led up to the guest house. She let go of his hand to unlock the house, and push the door open.

Nayla shut the door behind Don when he entered. She turned around and watched him step further into the guest house, looking around the area. Instead of dragging him around and showing him everything within the guest house, she watched him explore his new surroundings. She walked behind him, staying quiet.

The guest house first floor contained a kitchen with an area off to the side to eat. There was a cushion bench built out of the wall in one of the corner of the kitchen. A good size table and chairs on the sides, where the bench was not. Next was the living room and branching off it was a small library area. A bathroom was located near the staircase leading up to the second floor.

She followed Don up the staircase. The second floor had two bedrooms and a hallway bathroom. She mentioned about the master bedroom being at the end of the hallway. She watched him go straight to the end of the hallway, and he glanced at her as he stood before a door. She nodded at him, and he pushed it open.

The master bedroom was the room with the tower built off one of the corners of the bedroom. There were small steps built out of the wall, which led up to a loft area in the tower. There were many pillows in the loft area as it was an area to sit, relax and look out at the ocean.

The master bedroom also had good size window facing the ocean view. The king size bed was covered in a navy blue comforter, and sat between two windows looking out at the ocean. Nightstands were on either side of the bed with their own lamps. There was a cushion bench at the end of the bed.

A bookshelf was in another corner of the bedroom with two comfortable looking cushion chairs. A large bureau sat against the wall opposite to the bed with a mirror over it. There was another door off to the side, which was the closet.

"Nayla, this is unbelievable." Don finally spoke.

Nayla said nothing as she continued to watch Don walk around the bedroom. His hands would brush over items. He came to a stop at one of the windows staring out at the ocean.

She stepped up behind him, and she wrapped her arms around his lower abdomen.

"I hope you like it here."

Don pulled out of her hold, and turned around to face her. He reached up to cup either side of her face and a small chuckle began to escape him.

"Love, it is nice here. Real nice, but what I really enjoy on this island is you."

"Such a romantic…" Nayla playfully rolled her eyes.

A small laughed escaped her when Don attacked her neck with a few kisses. But soon her laughter was quieted, and a small moan escaped her as Don's lips were against hers. His hands were now on her hips, but slid to her backside. He yanked her against her, deepening their kiss. When he pulled back, she let out a small whimper at the lost of warm contact.

"Will your parents come find us?" Don asked.

Her eyebrows rose before a small smirk came onto her lips. She began to understand why he asked this question, especially when she saw his eyes flicker toward the bed and then his eyes were back on her.

"They are pretty smart to figure out we want alone time together the minute we left the house. If you understand what I mean." Nayla replied slowly, giving a raise of her eyebrows.

For a moment, she could see Don thinking about what she said. Then a grin began to appear on Don's lips. He nodded his head as he understood what she meant. Thus, Don leaned back down and continued to kiss her deeply.

Nayla could feel herself being walked backwards until she felt the back of her knees hit the edge of the bed. Don leaned against her, and soon her back met the bed with Don on top of her. Her hands sunk into his hair while his hands began to untuck her shirt from her skirt, and his calloused hands slid up her sides.

There was the familiar pleasurable sensation spreading throughout both their bodies. One by one articles of clothing were being pulled off and tossed somewhere on the floor of the master bedroom. For the both of them this felt slightly different. They began to believe it was because they did not have to worry about being on guard due to the war outside the place they decided to reside in for the day. Instead, they could finally make love to each other without any worries.

They were finally home.
