A/N: I do not own Star Wars: The Clone Wars. I do apologize for the long intervals between updates; Avenging Angel has proven unexpectedly popular, so I've been devoting more time to it. (Give it a read, if you haven't already.)

Now, to reply to some reviews:

.5851: I hope they do. I was never really fond of the Jedi, really; I knew they were all pretty much screwed, so I didn't take much time to get invested in them. (Plus, they treated Anakin like he was a weapon with which to defeat their eternal nemeses, the Sith, not as a person. I can't say I blame Anakin.)

Brytte Mystere: Anakin has proven to be wise beyond his years when he feels like it.

Chiara Ploarix Edelstein: Not a fan of Obi-Wan, huh? Neither am I; he doesn't really deal with things well, plus he lied to Luke. I understand why he did it; he still shouldn't have done it.

Crossing The Rubicon, Chapter 5- An Appropriate Time To Panic

The Jedi Council were stunned.

Obi-Wan had just delivered the news of Anakin Skywalker's…. departure… from the Jedi Order, and several of the esteemed Masters were reeling.

"Bad tidings, this is," Yoda intoned. "Without Skywalker, morale, collapse it will."

You don't say? Obi-Wan thought. Aloud, he said. "I can't say I blame him."

That caused every single head in the room to turn to him. Well… you said it, Kenobi.

"Whatever do you mean?" Luminara Unduli asked.

"Anakin did say that he had seen this war change us, that we were never meant to be soldiers," Obi-Wan said.

Mace Windu nodded. "For once, I find myself agreeing with young Skywalker."

"And," Obi-Wan said, deciding to throw caution (mostly) to the wind. "in light of the trial of Ahsoka Tano, Anakin's decision is perfectly logical to him."

This caused most of the Council to wince. Windu, however, was slack-jawed. "How so?" he asked, his voice hardening.

"If we so readily threw a Padawan under the airspeeder like that, who's to say we won't do the same to a Knight? A Master? Anakin has never trusted any of us; he wouldn't stay if he thought that we would turn on him."

"We would never do such a thing!" Ki-Adi Mundi stated.

"Oh," Obi-Wan said, "But we did- to Padawan Tano. I'm just as guilty of it as the rest of you; I really should have done more." Obi-Wan turned to Plo Koon, "and so should you have as well, Plo. Why?"

Plo really had no answer to that.

"What do we do now?" Adi Gallia asked. "Skywalker has left; how do we replace him?"

Really? Obi-Wan thought. You already want to replace Anakin? Some Chosen One prophecy, then.

"That is something we will have to decide later," Mace answered. "Right now, we must let Chancellor Palpatine know. Skywalker is a close friend; he'll start asking soon enough."

"Shouldn't we send someone to at least try to get Skywalker to change his mind? Oppo Rancisis asked now.

"Change his mind, Skywalker would not," Yoda said. "Stubborn, he is."

"Alright, fine," Oppo grumbled.

These people really don't like Anakin, do they? Obi-Wan wondered. Not for the first time, Obi-Wan seriously considered leaving as well.

"I will go tell Palpatine of what has happened," he volunteered. It'll get me away from you lot.

"Go, then, Master Kenobi."

Palpatine… did not take the news well.

"Anakin did what?" the veteran politician (and closet Sith Lord) snapped.

"Knight Skywalker has resigned from the Jedi Order."

"The effect of this is… catastrophic." My best laid plans, all ruined.

"It is."

"Where is Skywalker now?"

"Anakin has left, presumably to Naboo. As it turns out, he is married. You and I can guess to whom."

"Yes. To be fair, there was talk about how cute of a couple those two would make," Palpatine snorted. "I never truly believed it, of course. The Jedi are… rather strict when it comes to personal attachments, yes?"

Obi-Wan nodded. "Indeed. We do not allow this sort of thing, but since Anakin has left, we really can't do anything about it."

Palpatine was about to open his mouth, when a hologram flickered to life. "Apologies, Chancellor," the head of Clone Intelligence said, "but we received a coded message warning of an impending Separatist attack."

"Where?"

"Coruscant, Your Excellence. Possibly within the next few days."

"Thank you, Commander." As the hologram shut off, Palpatine saw Obi-Wan start to move for the door. Well, he knows.

Obi-Wan, for his part, had heard everything. He really needed to get back to the Council; they needed to coordinate the defense of Coruscant.
