New story! This is a make up gift for my friend CoolCat0720. Since I've fallen out of my Shall We Date mode for now, she suggested I do another sports anime story for one of her OC's as well as a debut for my new one. Thus is how this story was born. This will take place after the Winter Cup in a new year. Meaning most of our favorite basketball stars will be second and third years.

Disclaimer: I don't own Kuroko no Basket or any of it's characters. Just my OC and I'm temporarily borrowing CoolCat0720's OC.

'Not bad. Not quite like home, but not bad.' Mira West thought to herself as she looked around the gym. Tightening her ponytail before stepping out onto the court.

The crimson haired girl began lightly dribbling as she wandered around. Recalling her self-tour of the school earlier that morning. Kaijo High was an impressive school. Top of the line everything it seemed like. Especially sports facilities. This was her new school. This is where she would remain for the next two years. Whether she liked it or not. Mira set up in front of one of the goals and took the ball up for a shot. Sinking it easily. The swish of the net echoing through the court till the ball hit the ground.

Mira sighed as she went to retrieve the ball. Remembering why she'd been exiled to Japan in the first place. She'd gotten into a shit ton of trouble back home. Ironically enough it had been playing the sport she'd loved. However, while both parties had been guilty she had been the only one who'd gotten into any kind of trouble. So her parents and relatives had made the decision to ship her off to Japan to live with her cousin. Without her consent. All Mira had known was that she'd come home from school to find everyone in her house. Next thing she knew she was on the next flight out to Japan. She smirked to herself as she sunk another basket.

Upon her arrival to the country, her cousin had chewed her out just as bad (if not worse) than her own parents. Talking her ear off during the spring break. But just because she had to live with her pain in the ass of a cousin, didn't mean she had to go to the same school as him. Mira had made damn sure of that. She'd picked a random school that was just far enough away to keep her family at bay, but not too far to commute. That is how she ended up at Kaijo. Easily passing the entrance exams in order to gain admittance to the school. Too bad she'd neglected to tell her poor cousin this. Only telling him that she'd meet up with him later. Mira snickered to herself, wishing she could see the look on his face when he realized she wasn't attending the same school as him.

With her body aptly warmed up, Mira began running through drills. Trying to knock off any rust that had developed in the few months she'd been benched. Gradually growing faster and faster as she felt herself falling back into a comfortable pattern. Music blasting in her ears as she rolled, stopped, faked, side stepped, and pulled off various trick shots. Unaware of anything else except for the basketball touching her fingers.

Meanwhile…

Kise was humming to himself as he came in around the back way. Doing his best to avoid the club recruitment tables. Knowing that his fans would be hanging around the basketball one. While he loved his fans, he wasn't quite ready to deal with them on the first day back to school. He was looking forward to the season picking back up though. Grinning to himself as he thought about facing everyone again. He had way too much energy built up within, so Kise had snuck off to the gym. Wanting to work it out and get himself loosened up for the first practice/tryouts later that day. Knowing that Inter-High would sneak up on them before long. He was pulled from his happy thoughts upon hearing the distinct sound of a basketball hitting the wooden floor.

"Huh? Who's here?" Kise muttered to himself as he peeked inside.

There was a girl with somewhat long crimson hair and tan skin, dressed in a sleeveless shirt that had the cut off parts tucked in and basketball shorts. Focused on her dribbling as she kept her eyes trained on the goal. There was no hesitation in her movements. Moving seamlessly across the court before pulling into a jump shot near the three point line. Kise could tell by the angle of the shot that the girl was off. Moving his eyes back to where she'd been standing moments before, only to see that she wasn't there. Kise quickly located her on the other side of the goal. The girl grabbed the ball while she was still in the air. Taking it up for an alley oop and making the shot with ease.

"She's good." He noted. Smiling to himself as he wanted to know about the mysterious player. "Oi!"

Mira stopped her dribbling, just barely hearing Kise over her music. She pulled one earbud out, looking to see who'd hollered at her. Upon seeing Kise though, she narrowed her eyes in irritation. Clearly already making up her mind that she didn't like him. She popped her earbud back in and ignored him. Going back to what she'd been doing. The blonde felt like he wanted to fall over. He pushed away the irritation he felt at being ignored and headed on to the court. Catching the ball on the rebound. Forcing Mira to pay attention to him. A bit surprised to find out that the ball he'd caught was a guy's ball. Not a girl's.

"What do you want?" Mira drawled. Annoyance in her tone as she pulled her earbuds out.

"You looked pretty good out there. Perhaps you'd like a one on one with me?" Kise asked. Putting on his best charming smile as Mira knocked the ball free from his grasp. Catching it in the air before turning her back to him.

"A pretty boy like you wouldn't last long against me. Save your face from the damage and go find you some admirers." Mira smarted off.

"Don't tell me you're afraid to face one of the Generation of Miracles?" Kise taunted. Figuring the girl knew about his reputation from his days at Teiko.

"The Generation of what?" Mira asked. Nothing but seriousness on her face as the blonde felt like he wanted to fall over again. "I remember my cousin mentioning something like that. But I didn't pay it much mind. There's no way anyone from here could compare to them." She whispered.

"Clearly you're not from around here." Kise laughed. Scratching his head as he brushed it off. "I doubt you could do any major harm to my face. So how about it?"

"Just remember I tried to warn you." Mira said as Kise waved at her. Taking off to get changed.

Mira wore a bored expression on her face as she watched Kise go through the motions of stretching his body out. Once he felt good, Kise joined Mira on the court. She tossed him the ball. Giving him the first chance to score. Not in the mood to argue with the girl who already didn't like him, Kise just went with it. Both sliding into a defensive stance as Kise began dribbling. He would make her regret taking him so lightly.

Gold eyes stared back into violet as the two remained unmoving for a time. Kise took a step, and the game began. Starting out with his usual array of fast dribbles, Kise timed it just right before charging. Blowing past the girl easily as he headed for the basket. Thinking already that maybe he overestimated her abilities as he prepared to take the ball up for a shot. As the ball was supposed to touch his fingers to go up for his shot, he was surprised to feel his fingers touch skin. Glancing down, he watched as Mira's hand swiped the ball away. She pulled the ball back with her and took it up for a quick shot. Kise couldn't believe what had happened. He'd just had the ball stolen from him. By a girl.

"Let's see if you can keep me entertained now." Mira sneered as Kise went to retrieve the ball.

"Heh. Seems like I might have some fun after all." He laughed as their game began again.

What Mira lacked in size she made up for in speed and her reaction skills. Each time he made a drive for the basket she cut him off. Staying on him easily. If he managed to make it by she quickly caught up to him. Forcing him to change his plan of attack. The girl was proving to be a more challenging opponent than he had first anticipated. And if he thought her defense was good, her offense was just as good. Using a lot of similar moves he did and even some that he'd watched earlier that he'd never tried. Making shots that shouldn't be possible against an opponent his size. But the score didn't lie. She was holding her own fairly well against him. Only lagging behind by a basket or so before coming back. Everything about the girl was quick. Her footwork, her shooting, and even her rebounding. As promised, the girl wasn't afraid to get physical. Shoving him under the net whenever they would fight for the ball. Sticking him with her hip more than once in order to get the rebounds. Diving in for jump balls and refusing to let go. Never budging whenever he tried to push her back. Hell Kise had even lifted her off the ground a couple of times during a jump ball.

'Shit. I may actually lose if I keep holding back.' Kise thought to himself as the two took a small break. He glanced over at the red head who took a swig of water before going for the ball again. Picking it up and holding it against her hip. So far, the score was sitting at 11-10. Kise was behind by one basket.

Kise still didn't think she was too much of a threat to use his full Perfect Copy, but he would bring out one or two of his specialties from the move. Thinking about Aomine's and Midorima's play real hard. Mira tossed the ball out to Kise, taking up a defensive stance once more. Kise didn't hesitate in shooting the three. Putting that high arc on it as Mira watched with wide eyes. The ball sinking perfectly into the net as Kise held his shooting pose.

"So, I was right. You were holding back earlier." Mira breathed as she retrieved the ball. "Good. Now I can stop holding back."

Mira smirked. Taking her spot on top of the key as Kise wondered if the girl was serious or if it was all talk. Mira closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and reopened them. Her once wide violet orbs were now narrowed. Kise couldn't believe the pressure he felt coming from the girl as the two stared each other down. Before Kise realized it, the girl was gone. She'd already blown past him. Her already impressive speed had increased tremendously. Kise barely moved in time to cut off her drive. Mira barely seemed phased though. Coming to an immediate stop on the tips of her toes as she dribbled around her back and moved elsewhere. Kise summoned up Aomine's strength and used it to help him keep up with the girl. Almost as if she could sense the change, Mira began calling on her dribbling skills. Using them to put just enough space between her and Kise. Going up for a shot as Kise timed it perfectly. Arm raised to block the shot as Murisakibara's specialty rose within him. Mira leaned past Kise and chunked the ball at the backboard hard. Causing it to bank as she reached the ground first. Pushing off and grabbing it once again just as Kise touched the ground. Before Kise could react though, Mira had already taken up a shooting position. Surprising Kise once more as he watched the hand she shot the ball with. Sinking the shot.

"I thought you were a dominant right?" Kise breathed. Unable to believe what he'd just seen.

"It's just the hand I prefer to shoot with. I'm ambidextrous. I can use each hand as I choose at will." That smirk of her only widened as Kise realized just how much harder things had gotten.

While most players had a limited amount of options, Mira wasn't held by the same limitations. Her options had now doubled. Showing Kise time and time again as she easily kept up with his switching play. Able to stop him for the most part at every turn. Slowly pulling ahead as they neared the end of the game. The two pushing their limits as they kept up with each other. And as much as Mira was loving this play, old habits were doing their best to surface. With each passing play, the two got rougher and rougher without realizing it. Raising a certain instinct within Mira that she hadn't felt since the day that had started all her trouble.

Kise was on defensive. Sticking extremely close to the girl. Feeling the end of his Perfect Copy nearing. The score was at 19-20. He needed to stop her here and now in order to win. Due to his closeness, Mira could feel something rising within her. The need to break free from whatever was hounding her. The need to fight back. The need to defend herself. She turned, her elbow hitting Kise in the chest hard. Mira heard a grunt of pain as she glanced over her shoulder to see Kise falling back. Catching his breath as he did his best to ignore the pain. Quickly catching back up to the girl and getting back on defense. Mira froze. Realizing what she'd done only after seeing the look of pain on her opponent's face. Kise took advantage of this and stole the ball. Taking it up for the final basket he needed.

"Man that was a good game! Hey, do you want to play again later…." Kise trailed off. Seeing Mira grab her ball and quickly disappear through the locker room doors.

_._._

'I wonder what her deal was.' Kise thought to himself. Tuning out the fan girls as he headed through the first year's hall. Rubbing his still sore chest as he did so. He'd have to find the girl once again and ask her for a rematch. Curious about her style of play.

Kise replayed the match in his head. Trying to pin down just what kind of player she was. Recalling how she always seemed able to keep up with him. About halfway through he'd given up on trying to stick to just Aomine's and Midorima's skills. Having to rely on the full strength of his Perfect Copy. The girl hadn't seemed bothered by anything he'd thrown her way. Always having some kind of counterattack in mind in order to keep up. Not to mention her ability to use both hands at will and that impressive speed.

'For a girl, no—for a player, she was extremely strong. I still feel like she wasn't going all out. And why did she freeze up at the end?' Kise pondered as he turned the corner and headed down the hall that would lead him to the stairway leading up to his floor.

"Class, we have a new student joining us today. She's recently moved here from America so please welcome her with open arms." Kise heard a teacher announce. Trying to get the class in control before bringing in the new student. He looked down at the next door, only to see the girl he'd played that very morning. "This is West Mira."

The boy stopped. Watching the girl as she introduced herself before heading to an open seat near a shy looking raven haired girl. She looked different now that she'd let her hair down. It fell a little past her shoulders with slightly curled tips. The right half was held back with bobby pins as the left side had bangs that hung just above eye. Kise found it hard to believe that the girl just on the other side of the glass was the same dangerous player he'd faced earlier on the court that morning. Already feeling the punishment she'd dished out. It'd been a long time since he'd had such a physical match up. And in a way, he'd liked it.

'Wait…Is that a good thing?' Kise thought to himself as he shook his head. Going back to his observation of the girl.

She was slim and stood about 5'6". He knew under her uniform there was a toned body. Most guys on the team didn't have a body like hers. Kise wondered what the girl had done back in America in order to achieve the level she was at now. And the more he stared, the more he wanted to face the girl again. Instead of having to wait for the matchups he desperately craved, he had an opponent before him. One that he could face every day if he wished. He snickered to himself. Already wanting the day to pass by so that he could face her again at tryouts.

As if she could feel eyes on her, Mira turned to see who was watching her. Upon seeing that it was Kise though she stiffened up. Clearly not happy to see him. Of course, the same couldn't be said for the boy. Giving her a big smile and wave. Hoping that he could get on her good side. Mira narrowed her eyes in annoyance before turning away from him. Kise felt his face fall just a bit as he turned and headed out of there before any of the first year girls saw him. Knowing that a riot would ensue shortly afterwards if he didn't head back to his class. Not noticing how Mira's face contorted in anger shortly afterwards.

Kise was giddy the rest of the day. Barely able to wait for the bell to ring so that he could speak to the girl. Wanting to make sure he got his rematch again. Already looking forward to seeing her at the club tryouts later that day. Someone with her skills would obviously want to join a team. Plus she would be a nice addition to their team. Kise looked like an overly excited school girl as he shot up from his seat once the bell chimed. He headed down to the first year hallway in a hurry. He was met by the screams of his fans as he did his best to push through them, peeking into Mira's classroom only to find the girl already gone. He rushed to the shoe lockers and didn't see her there either. Kise wondered where the girl could be as he made his way outside. Finally seeing her crimson hair through the crowd. He pushed through the students, making his way over to the girl. Confusion crossing his face as he wondered why Mira was heading to the school gates.

"Hey, West-chan. The court is this way. Did you forget already?" Kise asked as he pointed towards the gym.

"I'm heading home." Mira called over her shoulder. Not slowing down as Kise quickly caught up to her. "And how do you know my name?"

"You're going to join the basketball club right? With your skills you'd easily make first string." Kise said. Wondering why the girl had such an indifferent look on her face. Ignoring her question completely.

"Kise Ryota was it? You're that famous model all the girls in my class won't shut up about right?" Mira asked as the boy nodded. "In order to join a team, you must have teamwork. That requires all the teammates to get along and trust each other fully on the court in order to get things done. Tell me, how am I supposed to participate in a team sport when I refuse to trust anyone?

With that, Mira left Kise standing there. Heading out of the gates and on her way towards the nearest train station. Only when she was safely on the train did the girl allow herself to relax even slightly. Keeping her gaze focused out the window as her body jostled along with the train.

'If I could still play well with others, believe me I would easily take you up on that offer. Unfortunately, trusting is what got me into this mess to begin with.' Mira thought to herself. Gripping her bag tighter as she headed home. Mentally preparing herself for the ass chewing she'd get from Kagami once she did.

Alright so new OC is Mira West! As you could tell she was a transfer from America this year. The girl is obviously good at basketball, and yes I know what many of you are saying. She can't be that good. But guess what? Most of the players are freakishly good in the anime so why can't she be? It'll all be explained as to how she got so good and what that has to do with her current situation. But for now this is the preview chapter. I look forward to what you have to say!

P.S. to my good friend your OC will appear in the next chapter.
